I think acknowledging that even with your own history of trials and adversities that there are people who have it worse shouldnât be taken as an attack on your ego or your very real experiences but a push to better the world around you because if it was bad for you, itâs especially unacceptable that there are people who objectively need more support and have faced greater intensity and frequency of violence, poverty and discrimination. None of us should be treated that way. Thatâs a positive attitude I donât see many have, merely defensiveness.
