BACCANTE by Alkemia

The essence of an untamed spirit. High bush blueberries, wild ivy, Spanish lavender, aged oakmoss, tonka, decaying bark, and forest fungi.

First Impression: This is so green on first smell, it made me wrinkle my nose. It’s unlike any other Alkemia scent I’ve smelled before. I can’t pick out any specific note other than blueberry, but it doesn’t smell artificial? It smells like overripe blueberries that fell off the bush and got stepped on and burst. It’s such a WET smell. Every other note melds together and the only word that comes to mind is GREEN. But, it’s green like moss over dirt rather than leaves & trees? The blueberries are so sweet and feminine. The sweetness toes the line of gourmand, but it’s not quite there yet. This is a very unique forest scent, that teeters on the edge of being edible.

Dry Down: Really impressed at the longevity of the top notes.It’s a pretty forward facing scent and the bottle is pretty similar to the drydown. I feel like Alkemia can fade into a pretty generic powdery scent, but the top notes on this one STAY. I love putting a little oil in my hair and catching whiffs all day.

Wear If: the word nymph feels aspirational to you. This makes me feel like some type of forest deity of springtime.

FALLEN SNOW ANGELS by Alkemia

A paradox of crème de vanille and devilishly dark patchouli frolicking playfully amid a flurry of snowflakes and winter ice-mint.

First Impression: In the bottle, it’s minty, sweet, and I swear I’m getting a hint of almond. I don’t think I’m picking up vanilla, but there is something very creamy about the sweetness that’s coming through. This very much smells like the crème in a peppermint patty, much more cool icing than a frothy cream. It’s a super unique gourmand, and a pretty mesmerizing pick for winter.

Dry Down: The patchouli is making this much more wearable/adult and less dessert sweet, but it’s blended so well into the entire scent. On the drydown, I think this is a more unisex scent than strictly feminine. To me, the mint is more prominent than the sweetness.

Wear if: you want to smell like a sexier version of the White Witch in Narnia.
