it is really weird that acquiring billionaire-levels of money is seen as like, an accomplishment, when at that point its just. slavish devotion to one's own ego. thats more money than anyone can physically even spend in one lifetime so its not doing anything. earning more money has no fundamental impact on a billionaire's life. theres nothing you can do for one individual with 2 billion dollars that you cant also do with 1 billion dollars. or significantly less. its literally just doing braindead Number Go Up idle gaming, except unlike an idle game, its numbers that could actually be used to make positive change in the world that are instead being thrown directly into the trash. actively making the world worse not even for their own benefit, because its literally doing nothing
