Is there an object you are exceptionally attached to?
āMy piano, to name one. It was a gift.ā
"... Is this the piano that is currently in the castle?"
āWhy, yes, dearest. Why do you ask?ā
She shook her head lightly, a smile playing on her lips "Ah, nothing of importance. I had heard from Everard that it was a gift from him to Benedict. I know he enjoys keeping me on my toes, but I didn't believe he was lying about this"
āNor would you have any reason to, considering the nonsense in lying about such a thing.ā And to what end, he wonders. But then Rhoshamandes scoffs lightly, eyes rolling in mild acid mirth. āMy piano was a gift from Benedict. He, despite being rather skilled a player, hardly ever touches it. He much prefers to appreciate my performance as a spectator, instead. He would have no use for a piano of his own.ā
"Of course... I know Everard also plays, did you teach him? How come all three of you play and I have never heard anyone use that piano? I almost thought it was decorative" she giggled softly, approaching Rhoshamandes "Perhaps Everard wishes it had been his idea to gift you the pianoā he amuses himself with his lies, but every good lie has a bit of truth hiding in it"
āNot entirely. I demand discipline in my students, and Everard takes pleasure in displaying defiance, as I am certain you know.ā The corner of his lips crooks subtly at the melodious sound of Biancaās chuckle, the back of his digits brushing softly at the delicate curve of her porcelain skin. āI shall play it for you next time you visit, if thatās something you desire. However, you must understand that even my focus has its limits in the company of a most beguiling presence such as yours, tesoro mio.ā At Biancaās assumption, his demeanor eases into something akin to his usual, unfazed expression, if not for the everlasting warmth in his grey-blue eyes as they gazed at her with tender adoration. āThat sounds quite plausible, in fact. And rather fitting for Everard and his ways. Yet, it does not excuse his poor attempt at deception. I will be certain to inquire him about it at our next encounter.ā
