! Reygante (Oc x Sofia Gigante) ficlet. Little drabble thing :3 !
I’ve been in a Reygante mood lately (as I always am). Just kinda been itching to write them being soft and sweet 🙂↕️ my first piece of writing on here wheee!!! Hopefully there will be more from me in the future :-)
Basically: Sofia wakes up stuck in self pity, only able to dwell on her flaws. Onix helps her out of it.
Sofia woke up in the morning like she always did since she’d been released— heavy. Unable to fall back asleep despite craving just a minute or two more. Nothing much different than the morning before. Just the date on the calendar.
Nothing except Onix’s arm draped over her waist from behind and their fingers tangled loosely together.
The sight of it brought a quiet relief for just a moment before she sat up and removed both the covers and the arm from her torso. She stood up and trudged her way to her bathroom, just as she had the previous morning and every other morning before that.
There, Sofia looked closely at her neck in the mirror, examining her skin as thoroughly as she had for the past week. To her surprise, she saw no scratches. No new ones, anyway. No blood under her nails which meant she’d had no nightmare the previous night. With no new flaws to pick at, though, she turned her attention to the old ones.
In the sleeveless top she’d worn to bed, everything she thought of as a flaw was on display. Slowly, her eyes trailed down her reflection— first to her left shoulder which donned a large, raised scar, then to her chest, and then her upper right arm. When she was done, her gaze made its way back up until she was making eye contact with her own reflection.
All she could do was stare at a version of herself that she hardly recognized. A version of herself that had been stolen from, neglected, and lied to.
She took a deep breath as her shoulders dropped and her eyes bore into herself. And, in the corner of the mirror, she saw Onix arise from her bed.
Onix, tired and leisurely, walked toward where she knew Sofia would be: in front of her mirror. Without an ounce of hesitation or caution, Onix rested her chin on Sofia’s shoulder and encircled her waist in her arms, a soft groan that made Sofia’s heart quietly melt leaving her. Sofia’s brain had hardly caught up with Onix’s actions before she began to press gentle kisses everywhere she could reach.
Onix started at Sofia’s shoulder, peppering the large scar on it with more affection in one minute than she’d felt in ten years. Soon after, Onix made her way up Sofia’s upper body, pressing her lips to her neck, then under her jaw, then her cheek, and then her temple.
Onix’s arms are tight and warm around Sofia’s frigid torso. It brought Sofia to soften her expression as the rest of her softened, too.
Onix then muttered, a little scratchy yet syrupy sweet, “g’morning, my baby,” followed by a groggy sigh.
That, unlike anything else ever had been, was enough to pull Sofia’s eyes off her own reflection. She looked, instead, at the taller woman at her side.
It had been so long since Sofia had seen Onix’s relaxed smile or been in her anchoring embrace or felt the heat of the fire stoked inside her. She’d forgotten how much she missed it.
Ten years ago, Sofia might’ve joked, “oh, so I’m your baby?” She’d chuckle at herself and begin to laugh when she saw Onix chuckling too. Now, however, she has so little humour left.
So she just smiles a barely-there smile and slowly lets herself lean into Onix’s warmth— another kiss pressed to her cheek and a radiant smile to match her own, much softer one.
When Sofia starts to looks up at herself in the mirror again, the first thing her attention is drawn to is Onix right next to her.
She forgets that her scars are even there.
