I’ll give explanations for some, for others I feel like they’re obvious.

Ash - The Avatar (duh)

Kiawe - Fire (duh)

Lana - Water (duh)

Sophocles - Earth

Despite him being an electric type Pokémon trainer, I see him as an inventor so I feel like he’d be skilled at metal bending and making machines. It also correlates with Molayne and perhaps his cousin could even be his metal bending teacher.

Mallow - Water

HEAR ME OUT, again she is a grass type trainer, but earth is more correlated to rock, ground and steel, and there’s the benders in the forest that use water to manipulate vines and plants, so Mallow could learn how to do that.

Lillie - Water

Snowy is ice— but also Water is the element of change and Lillie showed absolute growth throughout the series, and I believe it would be amazing for her to learn how to water bend to show it.

Professor Kukui - Earth

Him being Earth makes sense. He seems very grounded and works hard for his goals. Him being an Earthbender shows he works with the roots of Alola. He’s quite skilled at it too! He even learned a sub-bending technique that he doesn’t show often…

Kahuna Hala - Earth/Non-bender

It goes both ways to be honest for me. Earth makes sense as Kukui’s mentor, but also considering the other Kahunas are Olivia and Hapu who are going to fall under Earth anyway— it gives an unfair ratio to the Kahuna mix-up. So I think Non-bender could also be an interesting choice because he’s a fighting type Kahuna, so he could’ve learned techniques like chi-blocking or something adjacent to the Kyoshi Warriors. He’s definitely a physical fighter though.

Alolan Oak - Non-bender/Fire

idk man— I just don’t see him with a bending style or maybe Fire because of his Kantonian Vulpix?

Gladion - Water

Same reason as Lillie. He started as aloof and alone, but in the end of the series he has friends, he spends time with his family to find Mohn, he befriends Silvally, and gains new rivals. Water definitely suits him.

Team Rocket - Fire

Both Jessie and James are firebenders. I think their personalities fit with firebenders, and with their backstories too. Though I think James leans into lightning bending since LoK witnesses lightning bending used for machinery and James is good with tinkering. Jessie just has that fire so— firebender!

Kahuna Olivia - Earth (DUH)

One of my HCs (which I will flesh out later) is that Kukui, Olivia, Molayne, and Guzma are childhood friends— with Guzma drifting apart from the three. Olivia is a traditional Earthbender who doesn’t use sub-bending like her two friends.

Delia - Air

She’s quite cheerful, and she let Ash go on his journeys too! I think she believes in the art of being a free bird and exploring the giving world of Pokémon

Tupp, Rapp, and Zipp - Non-benders

Lusamine - Non-bender/Water

She’s giving me Asami vibes— she isn’t a bender, but she’s super smart in business and is stylish and savvy with her words! The only reason I believe water is because there’s a fight with her and she can battle

Wicke - Non-bender

Faba - Non-bender/maybeeee air?

I said maybe air because for some twisted reason he somehow figured out spirit-bending and used it to terrorize children.

Professor Burnet - Non-bending/Water

Logically: She has no battle prowess, so she would go in non-bending.

Characterwise: She loves diving, she does scuba diving for research, she loves the smell and the sound of the waves, she MEDITATES ON A SURFBOARD ON THE SEA. She’s from Pokémon New York they’re near the water too

She’s a water bender your honor.

Masked Royal (Kukui pt. 2) - Earth

(who’s the Masked Royal? Nobody knows and it’s certainly not Professor Kukui— hahaha)

He is a master in lava-bending. He uses it during Battle Royals (imagine the arena in LoK but like wrestling). He doesn’t use lavabending without the mask because the Royal donned a special move for his sport that if he uses outside of his mask consider his identity COOKED.

Also him being one of Ash’s lavabending teachers would he cool (I assume another one would he in Hoenn because they have a volcano over there).

Ilima - Non-bender.

Viren - Non-bender.

Mallow’s brother - Water

Kahuna Nanu - Air

He specializes in spirit-bending and understanding dark spirits, he’s a police officer too so perhaps he uses spirits to help with his job.

Acerola - Air

Well because of the spirits mainly

Molayne - Earth

Metal Bending— I explained in Sophocles, Kukui, and Olivia’s desc why.

Mina - Air

She’s obnoxiously carefree.

Matori Matrix (Team Rocket) - Non-bender/Earth

Matori - Non-bender

Gozu - Earth, he specializes in Metal bending— which is how Faba finds out about the Masked Royal’s identity in this AU because they were struggling against a metal bender (because Faba is weak and Kukui basically got every attack throne back and more), and because not many lava benders exist to defend against lava or redirect it, Kukui had to use it to get the victory in that battle.

So he’s a plot point

Pikala - Fire

Either because he’s Hala’s grandkid or because he’s a Decidueye trainer and grass = water somewhat

Dia - Earth

Backing this up with the theory that Dia is Kukui and Burnet’s child in an Alola where Ash never arrived. I think him being an Earthbender fits his stubborn determined personality.

Kahuna Hapu - Earth (duh)

Kahili - Air (duh)

Like the chariot scene it was Glory to the dedicated god, and then when it came to meeting Allison Simms, she tells Annabeth “Glory to Athena” which follows the pattern established the episodes prior, but Annabeth tell Allison “Honor to Apollo”

That got me curious, in what case would be glory or honor or any other term to dedicate to a god

Since when is Thalia, Clarisse’s dad??

I mean she would be a better parent figure than Ares

But this IS INSANE

- Whenever Mars kids visit Camp Half-Blood, they’re either really good friends with the Ares Cabin or try to distance themselves as much as possible because they don’t really connect as a family bond like Apollo and Venus/Aphrodite

- There’s a little part on Olympus where the god-emperors reside under the jurisdiction of Jupiter, but the law is enforced by none other than Romulus himself (Technically Quirinus).

- Additional headcanon: Trial by combat is one of two options if an Emperor disobeys a divine law (a fair trial with non-bias (in which Aeneas and Numa are jury) or a divine duel with Romulus). And the Emperors from Trials of Apollo got crushed immediately.

- Romulus was fairly well alive and didn’t fade due to his sheer popularity, but he decided to stay hidden from Camp Jupiter because his wife was slipping from the brink because no one knows her (except the reason she survived is because her name is Hora so same reason as Nike).

- Lupa has a human form (because in some interpretations of the myth, Lupa isn’t a she-wolf, she was a prostitute at a brothel) and she uses it to go to the city and if someone sees her, she just gaslights them. The only person who knows about Lupa’s human form is Terminus

- The Roman shops do a lot of bargaining and like many cities, if you don’t speak Latin or you’re new to Camp, you’re bound to get scammed.

- Camp Jupiter has a K-12 Education system and a diploma because somehow New Rome High School is a registered school in the state of California but there’s a lot of graduation requirements.

- New Rome University is a registered school but to the public view, it’s a smaller institution that sometimes is mistaken as a school under UC Berkeley.

- Many Romans have jobs in the city. And being Praetor, Centurion, Augur and Priests also counts as jobs because they get paychecks from the City. (Legionnaires below 14 get allowances).

- At funerals they have to remain professional and together as an army because if all the Romans start bawling thats a sign of weakness, so many just have their foot next to their friend and try not to cry and get the little comfort from foot touching.

(A bit of world building headcanons)

- New Rome is a breeding ground for nepotism because many direct demigods lived harsh lives and want the best for their kids and thus the legacies get priority for many educational opportunities because of their parents influences to New Rome life, and so the next generation of direct demigods get screwed over so its a cycle of repeated nepotistic behavior.

- There’s no foster system in Camp Jupiter. There’s an adoption system, but no foster system. That’s why direct demigods even if they’re like FOUR get drafted into the legion and even if they complete their 10 years of service, they have to stay in Camp Jupiter because most likely they don’t get adopted.

- Professor Burnet and Captain Friede are half-siblings because their dad ditched Burnet’s mom when she was a kid and he went to Kanto and started a new family

- Olivia had a really bad clumsy incident during her Kahuna training and as a punishment/trial (to test that she can take care of the shrine without tripping and falling into a void) she was forced to room with Burnet who just arrived to Alola (and is socially cooked because she had a really really conflicting relationship with her mom and step-dad). So the two evolve by rooming with each other.

- Kiawe and Olivia are cousins and his grandpa is siblings with her grandma.

- The Alola Pokemon School is a private school thats why they can legally do random shit without the government being concerned.

- Burnet is smug because when Mohn returned to Alola, whenever the Foundation asked for the professor, they’re almost always talking about her.

- The reason the Masked Royal persona exists is because he accidentally signed up because he could barely hear the owner asking him to volunteer, he agreed and then fully registered it a little too late (then he kept agreeing because he loved seeing Alola so hyped for battling! (and also because that helped with college debts).

- Since Team Skull’s team is made of outcasts. They have a member or two who is really smart, but socially an outcast which led to them being kinda poor at battling because they focus a lot on education and then ran away.

- One of Guzma’s two meal making experiences is making microwave ramen something luxury adjacent.
