I am dead serious: If you are a Walmart employee, at any level and in any store — like if you are a high school kid with a part time job stocking shelves — message me any question you have about unions. Like ask me "What's a union" if you want. I will explain it to you. I am a grievance chair for a white collar union whose workplace only unionized within the last five years and whose management fought as every step of the way, but in the end we fucking won. It can be done, and I can tell you how.
Rb to kill wal mart
Unionizing is our wet dream I promise you.
I like how it’s described as a union could “cripple American Capitalism” when more precisely it’s just that a union would be so powerful as to force WalMart (or any other company) to pay their workers like human beings. That’s not going to break Walmart. They’ll barely notice.
They’ve successfully convinced us that the unions are the greedy monsters. For so many years, the companies have painted unions as “we want you to pay janitors three million dollars a year and if you don’t we’ll set your stores on fire”.
But it’s more like “We want you to take an almost imperceptible fraction of your bountiful profits and use it to make your employees’ live marginally better, and maybe give them medical benefits, y’know, so they don’t die”.
Big companies did not stop hiring ten year olds to work in coal mines because they just woke up one day and said “my god, we’re monsters”. They did it because their workers stood together and said “really, enough of this crap”.
Companies are not going to give people raises unless it’s economically necessary that they do so. Anything they can do to lower their expenses, and raise their profits, they are going to do. And no one person can stop them.
But thousands of people, millions of people? Better chances.
Last year, after the death of Anthony Bourdain I wrote a note on Facebook (Yea, I know – who does that? Hell – who blogs anymore?) about sui
I wrote this to talk about how suicidal ideation feels. I am hoping people find it helpful.

I just realized all the kids growing up with Spotify don’t have to spend money on specific music anymore, so they probably won’t have the memory of saving up money to buy their first CD and having it be something super cringy…like I think I saved up $15 for three weeks to buy the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack at Barnes & Noble when I was 9 and I was really proud of myself for that. Add your first CD you were way too proud of buying in the tags
My first cds were handed down to me by my brother who was an avid collector. I got his duplicate copies of hundreds of great albums from the 80's and 90' from punk, Ska, grunge metal, and etc.
Also, back in my day we had music clubs where you got these things in the mail from Columbia music house and returned them for 15 free cds at a time. You'd get a bill later and never pay it (because you were a child) and after doing this for years under your parents names you had a massive collection of what were ultimately stolen cds.
Ya'll will never know the joy of opening a huge box of cds you chose but never paid for.

No offense but these are absolute classic images
Thinking a lot about how people have liked to meme on late-life Johnny Cash for “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” and his “Hurt” cover but man, I think his last few years were amazing. He was a man who was always on the right side of things, pro-union, anti-prison, and then at the end of his life he just got weird and apocalyptic, looking back on his own life and staring death in the face. That shit rules. He went out with dignity, which can be said about a lot of people, but more than that, he went out with ambition. “You can have it all, my empire of dirt” sounds melodramatic coming from 29 year old Trent Reznor singing about drugs, but coming from a 70 year old man who was one of the faces of his entire goddamn genre, who had fought for change his entire life and never seen any real progress? That’s fucking devastating.
“I wore black because I liked it. I still do, and wearing it still means something to me. It’s still my symbol of rebellion – against a stagnant status quo, against our hypocritical houses of God, against people whose minds are closed to others’ ideas.“— Johnny Cash

These guys mostly work in tech.
White nationalists generally don’t want to look like characters out of American History X anymore. Fashion choices at the convention ranged from Ruby Ridge to Mad Men, but most of the people there looked like you might run into them on Capitol Hill or in the U-District. That said, there is a type. According to my observations, the standard Seattle Nazi is a white male under 30 who either works in the tech industry or is going to school to work in the tech industry. “You’re also a coder? Do you mind if I send you something I’ve been working on?” I heard that more than once.
“That movie Hidden Figures was bullshit,” a guy dressed like John Goodman in The Big Lebowski said out of nowhere. “We never went to the moon, Stanley Kubrick faked all of it.” Water almost squirted out of my nose and it was the closest I came all night to breaking character.
“ Much bleaker is Dr. Johnson’s Seattle-suitable, “secret agent” racism plan. Basically, white nationalists meet in secret at conventions like Northwest Forum while paying “lip service to diversity” at their day jobs. They move into positions of power where they can hire other racists and keep non-whites from getting into the company. Two years ago, this method would have seemed like a total joke, but these guys really do mostly work in tech, and they were doing a lot of networking. When talking about the people he has counseled on the “secret agent” method, Dr. Johnson has written that they include “college professors, writers, artists, designers, publishers, creative people working in the film industry, businessmen, and professionals, some of them quite prominent in their fields.” ”
I wonder when liberals are going to stop pretending racists are just a bunch of rural rednecks and start taking a serious approach in combating racism. And conservatives are outraged whenever they perceive an “Inquisition” like “you can’t hold conservative views anymore in your job:(” gee I wonder why my guy.
Lol I keep trynna tell people seattle is racist but they don’t hear me tho
