Final days in the late Clash history: jamming just for their fans, backstage at the upstairs part of Coaster’s Disco in Edinburgh, April 1985, as part of their “Busking Tour” (photos by Steven Grey).
The band, in the post-Mick Jones lineup and right before their break up, attempted to start out fresh again, so they decided to leave their wallets at home and went on this busking UK tour with no rules, performing wherever the wind would take them and popping up under railway bridges, in subways or car parks, at pubs or even on park benches, surviving on the money thrown into their hats and sleeping on fans’ floors.
Sadly, though there can’t be anything as exciting and exhilarating as such an experience for a band that has done it all, nothing could delay the bitter end…
