epic fail and cringe, but I stay silly :3

So I went to my bank last week to discuss the teens of an auto loan and was advised that my bank was conservative and as such, wouldn't authorize an auto loan with someone who has my credit history (doesn't use credit cards but has an established history of on time rent and bill payments). However, the manager on staff advised me that even with my history most major auto dealers (such as the one I was looking at) would finance me, and that in my situation the best thing to do was to go ahead with the money I had even though it was a smaller downpayment than I wanted to do, secure a car so I could take extra shifts at other company sites, and return to discuss credit building options so I could refinance after a year or two.

I went ahead and did that, especially because I was coming to that conclusion as well. Unfortunately, her high estimate of what I'd be paying was somehow optimistic. I can manage the payments, especially with the additional hours I should be getting, but I'll definitely have to refinance at some point down the line.

As I mentioned in previous posts, the fundraiser has always been to recoup transit + the tow fees for the old car, and ideally some of the downpayment. In practice it's mostly gone towards recouping my transit cost, has made up the loss from towing, and hasn't helped much with the new car payments yet. I'm going to be keeping the fundraiser active to help me cover the car payments in case I see a lean month or two, though I'm hoping to be able to overpay on my monthly installments slightly occasionally so I can get this loan off my ass sooner. Because I have the car im going to be a little less stressed about meeting milestones, though I'm going to keep them at the same amount for now. I'm not anticipating any work on this car super quickly; at most I'll probably need to budget to get new tires around winter time.

A month ago, our soulmate was hospitalized after vomiting blood. The diagnosis that followed was stage 3c stomach cancer, with fluid buildup in the brain.

After talking it through together, they have chosen to focus on quality of life rather than aggressive treatment, and we’re honoring that choice completely. What we’re asking for now is help making the time we have left as calm and steady as possible.

They were working before this, now they’re on disability leave, and we’re both getting by on disability benefits, which doesn’t stretch far. Our water was recently shut off, and we’re about $2,000 in debt from that alone. Groceries and dog care are a daily stress. They need RSO (cannabis oil) every morning and night to manage nausea, and that cost adds up fast. We also need to figure out speaking to a death doula and make sure that we have care set up in that regard.

On top of the day-to-day, we’re facing real transportation costs; trips for pain management treatment, grief counseling, and the practical work of getting affairs in order. None of these things are optional right now.

If you’re able to give, it goes directly toward keeping the lights on, food on the table, and keeping them comfortable and making sure they have the space and time to spend with their siblings and friends.

It's not about being tough on crime, because the absolute toughest most brutal measure you could take against "crime" as a social problem is to alleviate poverty, and increase access to education, healthcare and social mobility.

It's about performing "tough on crime" as an aesthetic by enacting violence against a prop, i.e. minorities and the impoverished, who are fetishized and objectified to represent "crime." They are brutalized as punishment for crime, but never with the purpose of alleviating the problem of crime.

Hey, we're completely broke after spending most of our income on utility bills and rent at the start of this month, and have been struggling to make ends meet since. We're almost out of food and can't afford groceries, meds or other necessities.

We're both having a really hard time right now. We both have almost daily meetings and appointments, and it's getting increasingly harder to stay focused when we're both constantly feeling fatigued and lethargic.
