Beautiful daffodils around the City of York walls with a glimpse of the minster behind. The first walls around York were built by the Romans around 71 AD, small portions of these remain however most of the original wall is now situated under the present walls. The Danes (Vikings) occupied York in 867 and the, then mostly derelict walls, were restored. The walls we see today were enhanced throughout the 12-14 centuries to encircle the whole of the medieval city. you know the warmer nights are coming when the grapevine buds open 😀 this is a triumph delta black grape, usually the size of a thumb nail these babies are so sweet and yummy! the vine is now 4 years old, last year i left 50 bunches on and after several bouts of half-hearted thinning we ate what we could and the rest were crushed and are now sitting in demi-johns in my craft room making some wine 😊 reminds me....i must check how its doing! #homegrown #organic #organicfood #polytunnel #kitchengarden #grapes #triumphdelta #wine #vino #springishere
