Sonic always enjoyed Lancelot's company. He'd turned out to be way different from what their first meeting would have him believe. Beneath the outward layers of a fierce loyal knight, there lay an extremely compassionate soul, and Sonic found himself frequently wanting to peel back every superficial act Lance put up and dig into what he kept hidden behind all his walls.
…Not unlike Shadow, Sonic figures. Of course, there were differences in how both acted, but the similarities were uncanny at times; besides their shared appearance, they both kept a lot close to their chest, and it took a deliberate and consistent effort to get the guy to trust you enough to see his unguarded self.
And if there's something Sonic likes, it's a challenge.
Or, five times Sonic thought Shadow and Lancelot were similar, and one time he was proven wrong.
once again, this was written for the @sonadowexch !! i actively tried to push myself this time, but even so i still went waaaay overboard what i had originally planned out (stories rly do write themselves..) in the end i was rly happy w how it turned out tho, so it was worth it ^^
