Fun little comic (?) strip of some things me n my buddy who’s helping write this are sure is gonna happen in this AU

Uhh so a short explanation of this au is like, instead of TKiY, they have the Lovecraftian god Azathoth (aka the blind idiot god), the sleeping god that dreams of our reality, so if it wakes up, the apocalypse happens. The concept is still rough, but basically there’s a cult that figured out how to enter the dream realm and finds the god sleeping and thinks they can get some great reward if they get it 2 wake up. Uhh if u somehow get in you will gain ✨ the K N O W L E D G E ✨ but like, not exactly a full complete amount. Like they understand our world and how it works, all the people in it, how they live and how they could die, all the critters and how they work and all, but they don’t quite understand the things beyond that, including what this god is. Uhm, but this realm does have a short of guardian, an angel of some sort as suggested by my buddy. This guy or guys ig there could be multiple would trap the cultists somehow n now they can’t find their way out or back to this god, n they need someone to help them. Ugh holy gotta explain how they get there now do I? Shit ok..

It’s complicated, we haven’t gotten a clear idea yet but it has to do smthn with a dream catcher. These dream catchers are sold by a friend of one of the more powerful cultists, who’s somewhat in with their plans. These dream catchers can range in size from a diameter of maybe ten cm so fits in both ur hands, to a diameter of maybe 30 cm. The most important details are the shape in the middle made of string (whose inspired from a book cover for a book ab azathoth) and the size of the catcher. The size will determine how likely it is for u to be transported, the bigger the more likely, and maybe if you do have a desire to enter the realm the chances may increase. The shape on the other hand is the finalization of the ritual I suppose, so if the shape is damaged, there’s no way for u to enter. The shape of the catcher itself tho doesn’t really matter. It could be circular or square shaped or just funny shaped. So long as the symbol of azathoth in the middle exists it’ll work.

Ave’s is a little more generic dream catcher look, it’s prolly gonna b green w/ pink accents. It’s floral to match his love for the outdoors too. Der’s is a little more unique to say the least. It’s bc I think he’d be into antiques (more of that hc is explained in this post), anything old dusty and

filled with little details. It’s more complex and funny shaped so it can more easily catch his attention (unintentional pun intended). Think it’ll b red w/ brown and/or gold accents. I love both these designs 💖

Yay so uhh, at first they got Derek to be the guy 2 break them out. He is a clever guy and is willing to do whatever to help a person in need. And like I said, he’d be into hunting for cool antiques and the seller guy works at an antique store so it’ll be easy to lure him in. But when he made it there (the dream realm), he somehow slipped into the god’s psyche which grants him the full knowledge of everything yay. Including the cult’s true plan and how it can TRIGGER THE DAMN APOCALYPSE. Yea so he refuses. He tries to convince them to just drop the waking the god up plan but they say nah fuck off man n they chose Avery to break them out instead bc he’s very gullible. So then, Derek has to find a way to warn him to not follow through but bc the infinite knowledge, getting up n physically going to Ave’s place is quite an agonizing task, so he writes n plays a song, somehow makes a small music box with his newly acquired knowledge despite the pain and sends it to Avery. That’s essentially this world’s version of the book in SFAWTDE.

The comic thing is of how they met in the dream realm for the first time. Der’s a music guy, believe me I bet one of his other ways of releasing some of the thoughts other than writing is playing music. He has a cello here bc 1 it’s my friend’s idea 2 it makes an eerie melody n I think fits the vibe we were going for and 3 I’ve played one myself so I kinda know how to draw it hehe.

I imagine Der would be the type of person to collect little antique trinkets for fun.

It would come from his mother who’s a freak for old porcelain figurines. Like, when she has extra cash in hand and nothing more to spend it on she’d pay a visit to the local antique shop and get whatever little figure she finds interesting enough that day. Even after having Der she’d keep this habit and even bring him along.

Der on the other hand is less than thrilled about these figures, to say the least. I think he’d hate them, and a lot. It didn’t help that the little apartment they lived in had at least 3 of em on each shelf. It was prolly so bad 2 the point that he’d refuse to leave his room at night so he wouldn’t have to turn around and have one of their eyes on him.

Anyway, from these trips to the antique store where mama hutchins would take ages, he’d wander off to other areas and find little trinkets like old pocket watches, paintings, hell, maybe even musical instruments bc he’s a music guy trust. Anything small with fun details he’d get it. Unless it has a face, he’d hate that. Maybe that’s why his mc skin is faceless.

Speaking of his mc skin, maybe he got his interest in roman history myth and lore from these trips, which later inspired his skin in the first place. I think even as an adult he would have the same habit as his mother before him. I’d imagine his little bedroom having lots of odd antiques here and there, like a whole ass lantern on his desk as a table lamp.

This is an opinion I have on Shelly Fossilian from Dandy' World.

This is not an attack on anyone who has the hc I'm gonna discuss. So please don't attack me for this if you disagree.

I really don't like the hc that Shelly has a dino tail. It's true, I really don't. In fact, I don't like twisted Shelly's design at all. Well, admittedly I do like how disturbing it is, she makes creepy horse-like sounds and the way she towers over toons makes her design pretty effective from a horror standpoint. However, outside of that, I think she shouldn't be a theropod. I am no expert in paleontology, just some high schooler who is very interested in it, but I know for a fact you don't need a degree to understand that an ammonite is not a theropod. They are completely different. Heck, you don't even need to know much about prehistoric animals to know that an ammonite is nothing like a theropod. So I don't know why they chose to make her into one.

Yes there is the argument that she's a fan of dinosaurs, but that doesn't make her into one. Yes I like cats but that doesn't make me a cat myself. I can wear cat ears and make myself a cat tail, but it would never be a part of me.

My main complaint is they made the concious decision to make her an ammonite only to make her twisted a theropod. You gotta choose one or the other, you can have both at once. Why bother making her an ammonite if you're gonna end up making her twisted into a dinosaur? If you want her to be an ammonite make her twisted an ammonite. If you want her twisted to be a theropod then make her into a theropod.

This really truly pisses me off. I’m not really mad at fans who has this hc, it is the devs who are to blame for even putting this possibility at the table.
