The rooftop of Milan Cathedral is almost a monument of its own.
Construction of the Duomo di Milano began in 1386, and its roof reveals the cathedral’s Gothic complexity up close: marble spires, flying buttresses, carved pinnacles, and statues rising above the city.
At the highest point stands the Madonnina, the gilded statue of the Virgin Mary placed in 1774 — one of Milan’s most enduring symbols.

Rip what happened to your cute old selfies
There are two people who could have asked me this question. The first is my ex-girlfriend, who is also the answer to it.
The second should dm me so I can return the flattery
Just had a dream where I drove a girl I used to know to a party (after getting a parking ticket, which was converted to GBP for some reason and multiplied based on past infringements, surely not my job creeping in) and this song came on and she somehow knew it already and sang along.
I hadn't heard this in years, possibly a decade, but it was clear as day and the lyrics accurate. And I hadn't seen or thought about the girl longer than that but in it she looked more accurate than I could have possibly envisioned if you had told me to try to remember her last night. Weird how your psyche can pull things out like that.

FOSSILISED WOOD SPHERE
ISALO II FORMATION, AMBILOBE, MADAGASCAR, TRIASSIC PERIOD, C. 220 MILLION YEARS B.P.
Madagascan fossilised wood is primarily found in the northwestern regions of the island. During the Triassic period, approximately 220 million years ago, this area supported extensive coniferous forests dominated by species such as araucaria. At that time, Madagascar formed part of the supercontinent Gondwana and experienced a warm climate that allowed large forests to flourish across broad river plains and lowland environments.
These trees were subsequently buried by volcanic ash and sediment, preserving them deep within the earth. Over millions of years, the wood remained encased in iron and manganese rich sediments. The gradual mineralisation of the timber preserved its structure while the presence of these elements produced the distinctive and vibrant hues now visible.

I have got to stop drinking at bars by myself, pt II
This time a sixtiesish guy came in, clearly having already been drinking all day and probably 15+ drinks over sobriety, sat down next to me, and started bragging to the bartender about how he'd been banned from the premises over the weekend for getting into a fight with the last waitress he'd had because she was too slow to cash his lottery tickets but he knew the owner wasn't in today so he decided to risk it.
The waitress seemed incredibly confused and decided to serve him but was also wary right from the get-go and started avoiding our area because every time she was within earshot he'd start loudly asking her if she thought the past waitress was a loser and if she'd been fired for turning away their best customer or not.
When she wasn't in earshot, he tried asking me if I thought the Israelis were behind the recent wildfires. Like straight-out, no introduction or feeler to see if I'd be interested in talking to him or anything. Being a non-confrontational person, I told him I didn't speak English with zero attempt to affect any sort of accent and he just stared at me with glazed-over stupified eyes. I can't tell if that contradiction short-circuited his brain or if he saw through the transparent lie yet was still too polite to call me out, but he mercifully turned to the other guy on the opposite side of him and started haranguing him about the insidious nature of fifteen minute smart cities instead.
(Before the drunk came in this patron had been longingly eyeing the food I had ordered, sent his own order back to the kitchen for having something wrong with it, and then demanded to have the same thing as me, which is also weird behavior but ultimately tolerable)
Anyways a male bartender or maybe one of the cooks came out and told him he was cut off after his first drink and he made a big scene before throwing his empty glass on the floor and storming out. They called the cops but I have no idea if they caught up to him or not. I hope they did because this was around 8:30 or so and this particular bar was the only late-night spot serving alcohol after 9PM on a weeknight for seven or eight miles in any direction.
