a change in the movie that we all loved was getting to hear and see alex actually say “history, huh? I bet we could make some” because in the book it comes off as alex flirting and wooing henry in just a very casual yet romantic way, but in this scene it’s literally alex’s way of saying “I love you” in that moment

it’s just such a great way of adding an extra layer to that line cause like. alex is sooooo idealistic and young and bright and hopeful. he wants to change the future of politics and bring about a better world, and henry has had that sort of hope snuffed out of him at such a young age (and in fact can’t politically believe in anything in the public eye) and so when henry says that he wants alex to be included in his history, to be out there with him in the world and, in doing so, change history, literally means the world to alex so like OF COURSE HE’S GOING TO SAY I LOVE YOU IN SOME WAY. HIS LOVE LANGUAGE IS HISTORY AND POLITICS
