The lore of this au is Avery is a minor deity/god being trained by Hastur to become a more major god. But unfortunately for Hastur, Avery gets distracted by going to the mortal realm and Derek exists [Yes this is Slimeknight]

When I made this chart I realized how different Hastur looks compared to Avery
