why was frank out there!! he wasn’t in civilian clothing, he had no real tangible reason for popping out to the ambulance bay and no inciting incident to look for mel like after her blowout with becca. he just went and found her for the love of the game

he pulls out his phone as he’s approaching but like, just looks at the screen for a second before putting it back, which mirrors the break room scene when he was just fiddling with his phone as mel came in but kinda gave up as she approached him. dude defaults to fake a distraction before just giving mel all his attention

the way they just stand there after the conversation!!!! silently, peacefully, not even looking at each other but just settled in each other’s presence.

strangers → co-workers → sibling-like → mentor-mentee → kindred spirits → [beautifully, lovingly] platonic → need each other desperately → friends → technically possible [romance] → best friends → lovers

mind you, they've know eachother for two shifts and are already at the friends + technically possible stages. when we come back four months later for season three they'll be—close to, if not at—best friends (co-dependent ones, and weird as all hell about eachother, to boot).

their development is truly the most impeccable and wholesome i've witnessed in a very, very long time. they're speed-running a slow burn and they're absolutely killing it.
