Andercard Song of the Day:
Hymn to Virgil - Hozier
I would burn the world to bring some heat to you
You are the reason I went through it
The only meaning as I knew it
I can only do my best
I do not do this for myself
I’d walk through Hell on living feet for you
I’ve been listening to this song almost non-stop, and it doesn’t line up with the Andercard vibes exactly - but I love the twisted, affectionate violence of burning everything and screwing everyone over for the one you love, which in my opinion is an element to the Alucard/Anderson dynamic.
I see the refrain from Anderson’s perspective, because Alucard is “his monster”, and ultimately Anderson did do all that he did at the end of Hellsing for Alucard. He knew the Major’s plan and jumped right into it because it was an opportunity to actually kill Alucard.
I also love the ties to Dante’s inferno, with Anderson being Dante and Alucard be Virgil, in a twisted mirror version. Because Anderson does leave Alucard behind, falling by Alucard’s hand - both a representation of what Alucard wanted - to fall by Anderson’s hand - and a gift to escape Alucard’s own fate. And just like how Hymn to Virgil is an alternate universe where Dante decides to stay with Virgil, I listen to this song as an alternate universe where Anderson stays with Alucard, rather than throwing everything away in one final, impulsive act.
Who up angsting their Anderson
Not gonna lie I thought this was inspired by Biting the Bullet by catsvrsdogscatswin

It’s beautiful 🥲
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Recursive: Alucard's perspective of Kaleidoscope.
Bound By Red Threads: Anderson's perspective of The Ties That Bind Us.
Neither Living Nor Dead, Neither Day Nor Night: Alucard's perspective of Neither a Fairytale Nor a Horror Story, But Something In Between.
Error in Judgement: Anderson's perspective of A Trap With Teeth.
Aim Higher –Be His New God: Alucard's perspective of Cupid's Packing a .357 Magnum.
I'll Watch You Burn: Alucard's perspective of There Is No Victory In Strength.
Behold, the long-awaited alternate POV fics! As a birthday gift to me, you should shower them all with lots and lots of comments, lol.
I seesawed on whether or not to include Biting the Bullet, but the way I structured that fic makes it kind of impossible to flip around and still work plot-wise.
HOLY SHIT WHAAAAT
Someone should make an omegaverse au of Dracula
Your Hellsing Ship Is Toxic
The main ships of the Hellsing Fandom
Mentions of Rape, Quasi-necrophilia, Abuse, Slavery and power dynamics.
Being honest here, none of these ships are more or less ethical than the other, and I'm tired of acting like one is more or less okay simply because of the fact that people like them or have an excuse as to why it's 'okay' in comparison. None of these are healthy, every ship in this show is comship or darkship. If we go by laws, literally every ship with Alucard or Seras can be considered rape as they both can't technically consent and can't be considered autonomous, they are owned by Hellsing. Every ship with them would also be quasinecrophilic in nature as they are both vampires. Doing this because I'm no longer a part of the fandom and therefore have nothing to lose. I also don't care if this gets any attention, positive or negative, I just feel like someone had to say something.
This is not meant to be an attack on any of these ships or people that ship them, merely a post that I hope will make people think about their own biases before commenting on the ships in the fandom
I think this is a really important post to have within the Hellsing fandom, and I’m sorry that op had bad experiences within the fandom because they’re right on this fact right here:
Anyone who contributes or consumes content within the Hellsing fandom has NO right to judge ANYONE else in the fandom.
Hellsing is itself a dark fantasy manga with heavy themes of violence, discrimination, sexual abuse, war crimes and unhealthy power and relationship dynamics, with all of the characters being either evil, selfish, morally flawed, or all of the above - with the sole exception being Seras Victoria. Everyone else? Bad people or people who have done bad things (Integra being in the latter camp - I could make a whole other post analyzing her with how complicated her character/situation is), and if you’ve read the manga or watched the anime then you should know this.
Also, HUGE point right here - Hirano is straight up problematic. It’s no secret that he used to draw (and I’m sure he still does, just maybe not to publish) rape scenes in porn manga that involved women, or women who look like teen girls - and who probably were teen girls, in some of his stories. And it’s an influence we see when Alucard kills Rip Van Wrinkle, because it looks incredibly suggestive. So anyone who doesn’t like a ship because it’s got probable grooming in it (looking at you Alucard/Integra haters), just remember that fact about Hirano.
This isn’t to say the fandom shouldn’t exist or that everyone in it are bad people who condone bad things, because of course we aren’t bad people, and in real life we would never condone the bad stuff in Hellsing. Fiction is a grey area, because its domain lies in the human mind and psychology. There are many places within fiction and how people interact with it that are hard to classify, and the Hellsing fandom is fascinating because of that.
I think about it myself often, about what it means for me to enjoy Hellsing, what it might say about me as a person. The thing with Hirano is what bothers me the most, but it doesn’t stop me from interacting from the content - because my special interest in Hellsing ultimately helps me. It’s fun to play with the characters, whether I’m analyzing them, writing about them, or drawing them. It’s my hobby, and it helps me step away from a life that can be quite stressful at times. It’s helped me develop my art and writing skills in ways I didn’t think I could. Do I agree with anything the characters do? Of course not. If I were magically isekai-ed into the middle of the manga as a character in the plot I’d die in five pages or less, because I’m not a person who will stand by and hide when I see something bad happening.
But that’s just me. Everyone else gets something different from Hellsing and its characters, and I have no issues with that.
One final thing, there is something I do disagree with op on: Go ahead and woobify all the characters you want. You wanna make Alucard a sniffly soft baby man? Sure, go ahead. Because making content in fandom is sometimes more about the creator and what they want to get from it. I’ve definitely gone through phases of mischaracterizing a character to fit them into what I wanted, which I think is fine to do. Sometimes you just gotta let people do what they wanna do, and if it’s not for you then just block, ignore, and move along.
