I deeply admire Harrison Ford's unfailing commitment to taking beloved characters out with him every time he leaves a franchise
I wish all closeted LGBTQ+ people a very happy pride month.
idk im really tired of 15-17 year olds who have never interacted with the gay community irl and spend too much time on tiktok trying to act like the authority on all that is lgbt+Â
mean this in the kindest possible way. if you are too young and unsafe to go to your gay community center or pride hereâs some ways you can connect to gay history.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) introduced legislation on Tuesday that would strip âwoke corporations like Disneyâ of special protections enabling companies to hold copyright material for decades.
The Copyright Clause Restoration Act would limit copyrighted material to 56 years and apply the new rule retroactively, meaning Disney and other companies could immediately lose some copyright protections if the law were passed.
The measure is the latest Republican attack on Disney, which last month was stripped of its self-governing status at its amusement park in Orlando, Fla., after Gov. Ron DeSantis took issue with the media company for speaking out against the stateâs âDonât Say Gayâ law, which prohibits the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten through third grade.
Hawleyâs bill goes after Disneyâs long-running list of iconic characters stretching from Mickey Mouse to Marvel superheroes.
Hawley said in a press release that âthe age of Republican handouts to Big Business is over.â
God it's like watching a more morally bankrupt Freddy vs Jason
Hawley said in a press release that âthe age of Republican handouts to Big Business is over.â
So you agree that Republicans have been giving handouts to Big Business prior to this?

more people would be for prison abolition if they just tried to send mail to an inmate even once
for almost a year now i've been trying to send a copy of the literary magazine i edit to an inmate who requested one. his prison prohibits any written materials that so much as mention drugs, weapons, criminal activity, or malicious violence of any sort. i've been poring over what's available of the 95 volumes my magazine has printed over the years, and of those found 3 that might pass inspection. the first two were sent back undelivered two months after i sent them because one had a short story that alluded to a playground fight, and the other a poem that used the word "fist" in a nonviolent context. The third was returned for the stated reason that its contents depicted the use of firearms. i reread the entire issue, there's not a single gun mentioned in all its 120 pages.
while going back and forth with this guy trying to figure out how to get a copy of the magazine in his hands, two of my letters bounced back for unspecified reasons. i learned that inmates are not given their correspondents' original letters, but scanned copies, often poorly reproduced and sometimes illegible. these people aren't even granted the ink their loved ones used to pen their messages, or to hold in their hands the paper their loved ones held, if they're able to receive their words at all.
I finally finished these!! Iâve spent the past week working on several things at once, but finally got my drawing project done~ Out of desire to re-design outfits for some of the Gotham villains, I drew them like fashion sketches (you can google what i mean) complete with modeling poses for fun~
though this took me a while, iâm very happy with how they turned out! I hope you guys enjoy my outfit designs (the only old one being Riddlerâs; iâm kind of settled on it); you can click to get a better look at them! each outfit incorporates inspiration from their canon outfits combined with some sort of âfashion flairâ and were fun to create

Is president shoe laces a thing?
I saw a girl in Starbucks today with rainbow laces so I told her and she said she got them from the president and Iâm so confused
The ancient words.

we shouldnât trust historians to teach us history because they are people with biases. instead we should learn from instagram influencers, who would never lie to us.
Or be smart and donât trust either
iâm going to push back on this because itâs not true. there is a tremendous difference between someone who has gone through years of training on recognizing and mitigating biases and Just Some Guy with a large tiktok following and no accountability.
historians can absolutely be biased and even wrong, but they have to show their sources. there are a lot of problems with academia, but âsystemically incentivized to Lie And Mislead The Populace based on the wishes of the donorsâ is not actually at the top of the list.
This is actually a really good encapsulation of how you get to a post-truth mindset. Because that is what this âtrust no one, always do your own researchâ stuff boils down to.
Like, are you going to put together your own version of history from the Pyramids to today, entirely without relying on historians? Just original sources, for all of it? And youâre also going to learn all the laws of physics from scratch? Youâre going to learn everything there is to learn about biology by observing animals? Youâre going to learn about food safety by testing every food?
No, youâre not. Youâre going to âdo your own researchâ by reading a half full of out of context sources and then deciding whatever you want. Which is probably how those instagram influences got to their bizarre takes.
And, no, the alternative isnât âalways trust scientistsâ. Scientists do fuck up and they have biases and incentives. And if Iâm honest, most historians have probably not had years of training on recognizing and mitigating biases. Itâs not the best research field in that respect. But there is a massive difference between a research field that is biased but still fact-checks each other and pushes out people who do not list their sources, or a social media community where the people who tell the wildest stories are pushed to the top of the pile.
The way we get to a post-truth society is when we lose sight of that difference. When âthere are biasesâ becomes the same as âitâs all liesâ. Or âthereâs a hidden agendaâ. Thereâs just not. Historians donât get paid nearly enough for that. Theyâre just nerds arguing over their blorbos and unfortunately a lot of them are white male historians who argue over rich white male blorbos and who do not seriously question the dominance of that perspective. Itâs as simple as that.
the bravest writers are the ones who make granny characters in scifi and fantasy solely for the sake of having grannies i think there needs to be more old ladies who Fight and Kill
not only because i like the concept of badass oldladies and the destruction of the concept that all girl characters have to be sexually appealing to the audience bc thats fucking annoying as shit, there is literally Nothing funnier than the concept of a granny with a massive sword or death laser. she pinches ur cheek lovingly and then saws someone in half. amazing
mad max fury road granny biker gang my beloved
Bruh, there's nothing wrong with criticizing media, but posting unwarranted "um, actually you're wrong, this thing sucks and here's why" comments on posts praising the movie or just people talking about what they liked about it? That's just straight up pathetic, my dude.
me: *hyperfixating on fictional character for hours before bed* wow, I sure hope Iâll dream about them
my dreams: *spider monster chasing me downtown*

obviously fred varies in personality and interests based on the era and incarnation but idk why people say he's a jock when he's a perfect candidate for theater tech. his main skillset is building and staging elaborate multi part traps. in some of the movies he's also daphne's cameraman which means he also has the different but related skillset of av kid. he's probably a film nerd who loves classic horror movies for the practical effects, he probably makes everyone sit down to watch the thing and refuses to shut up about puppetry the entire time. he probably started mystery inc to make found footage horror movies and accidentally stumbled on a guy in a ghost costume on the way
In fact, the best candidate for team Jock is almost certainly Shaggy.
While other members of the gang have shown an interest in sports at various points, particularly Fred and Daphne, Shaggy is specifically labelled the best gymnast in the school in episode 1 of series 1, What A Night For A Knight. It's one of the earliest things we learn about his character.
In Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School, he gets hired as a gym teacher at a school for the children of famous monsters, and is actually really good at it. Despite being actively terrified of all his students and his surroundings, he still manages to get the kids engaged in sport and even helps them beat a neighbouring school in a volleyball match.
In Scooby Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf, we learn that he's also a gifted race car driver.
In Scooby Doo and the Phantosaur, it turns out that he also has the ability to hold his own in a fight against multiple opponents, and to jump pretty long distances (even if he needs a confidence boost in order to access those his abilities).
And that's not even getting into the sheer amount of physical activity involved in just being a member of the Mystery Gang, specifically in being the guy who always gets stuck on live-bait duty and is at the centre of every chase scene.
Plus, he has a great dane for a pet. So even when he isn't out with the gang, he's presumably getting a fair bit of exercise walking Scooby.
Honestly it's no wonder he's got such a huge appetite. He must he burning through calories like nobody's business.
A Great Dane that Shaggy not just walks, but constantly picks up and sprints with. Scooby probably weighs as much as Shaggy does, and Shaggy still outruns the others while essentially carrying a person.
He doesn't even pick him up most of the timeâ Scooby leaps into his arms!
Shaggy, at any moment, can expect to have a person-sized weight basically launched at him, and not only is he able to catch him in mid-air every time, without staggering, but he's able to launch into a full sprint straight afterwards with no visible difficulty.
Oh, and, when one of them isn't carrying the other? Scooby and Shaggy typically keep pace. Certainly you never see the huge gap that you'd expect to open up between a human and a dog who are both running at panic speeds.
A great dane can run up to thirty miles an hour. For comparison, Usain Bolt's top speed is just under twenty-eight miles per hour. And unlike Usain Bolt, Shaggy is able to consistently maintain roughly that speed over long periods of time during chase scenes.
Yes, I love this because Shaggy was absolutely a jock in the original series. Besides telling us heâs a gymnast in episode one, several other original episodes mention that heâs the fastest among the gang, and one episode mentions that he runs track. Though heâs often the first to run when the monsters/villains show up, Shaggy is much less reluctant when it comes to the more athletic tasks, and he himself volunteers at times to do so, like jumping from the van onto a train car.
Freddie, if anything, is definitely something more intellectual. I like the idea of him being a theater tech geek.Â
i hate when girls feel dumb for trying to see the best in people and then end up hurt or disappointed like no!! itâs those people that were dumb for misleading you. they took advantage of your kindness and generosity, and theyâll rot for itÂ
