who guards the guardians?

I feel like I make this post every month but if you don't like Hank Pym and you aren't willing to engage with Hank Pym as a character you're going to have to get used to and maybe occasionally sympathise with Janet van Dyne is not and never will be the character for you because the vast majority of her comic history is inherently and fundamentally tied to him and vise versa. Like it's not a 7 year thing you can muscle through, she was created to be his partner and other half. I keep making this post because I keep seeing people who don't seem to understand this but if you don't want to read Hank Pym, you are not going to enjoy Janet comics and frankly you are into a version of the character that does not exist.

I always feel like an asshole for saying this stuff but it's genuinely like saying you love Sue but hate Reed. The reality is a version of Janet without Hank doesn't exist. And if you cannot appreciate her relationship with him in all it's complexities and nuances and read it from a perspective not influenced by someone on twitter or Tumblr telling you he's the evillest character in the world then you have a fundamentally incomplete understanding of her character and it just constantly really frustrates me seeing people invent a version of Janet that doesn't exist and then act like the first 50 years of comics are wrong and only Darkhold Wasp or Unstoppable Wasp or whatever the fuck is right. Pisses me the fuck off.
