Senate discussed and ultimately tabled a proposal to codify operating procedures for Appointments Committee, which appoints students to various campus committees and positions from Student Handbook editor to Student Sustainability Coordinator, in its meeting last Friday, November 1. Student Body President Ari Galper ‘14 closed the meeting with the news that a campus gun or weapons policy will be next in the “legislative chute.” Senators also raised an array of other, smaller issues during their committee reports at the beginning of the meeting.

"As a music historian, Bredeson especially enjoys taking old, classic plays that people think they know, and looking at them in a new way.  “Our Town”, for instance, Bredeson says, people generally look at as a “saccharine and simple, heteronormative” story about George and Emily falling in love in small-town Grover’s Corners. However, Bredeson is taking this as an opportunity to represent Reed in a place far removed from the liberal college atmosphere."
