Jack likes to talk to animals he knows won’t understand him because he doesn’t want them to be lonely, Let’s discuss.
ok so jack doesnt really understand his full set of powers when hes new bc like. what’s he supposed do? read?? hes baby.
so hes curled up behind the motel dumpster with his knees to his chest, waiting for the fighting inside to be over, when he sees a raccoon chowing down on an old chinese food container.
and Jack’s like “huh, ok, maybe this Soft Creature can help me”
he realizes pretty quickly that hes getting nowhere with the raccoon, but that doesnt stop him!
sam lingers in the entryway for just a moment, listening to this poor kid ramble on about how he misses his mom to a fucking raccoon and feels his heart shatter into a million fucking pieces
jack doesnt talk to animals unless hes the only one around (or, unless they’re domesticated, which hes learned is socially acceptable, provided you speak in a cutesy voice, and pet them while you do)
THEN jack learns that you can have domesticated animals in houses??? this is something humans do??!?! dean why dont we have one?!??!
jack starts vying for a dog
jack starts bringing home mice caught in traps home in little shoeboxes
he takes home stray cats and dogs and keeps them in his backpack until he can get them to the shelter in Lebanon
he picks up worms off the pavement after it rains and puts them back in the dirt
he holds his hand still enough and lets butterflies rest on him
the boy has a soft heart, and despite Dean’s grumblings, he thinks it’s actually really sweet
jack would REALLY talk to felix when he had him ; ;
he’d just sit on his bed and hold felix or let him slither all over the place and ramble on for hours about star wars or hunting or what scared him or made him happy and it helped him fill that empty space where his soul was starting to erode
