I am legitimately convinced IGN is paid or bribed to give good reviews.

They don't need to be bribed, they're being implicitly threatened. Big name review companies need to get their reviews out IMMEDIATELY (usually long before release) in order to get engagement, and without engagement they don't get influence and they don't get paid. A big reviewer like IGN lives or dies on their access to advance copies of games, exclusive events, and the goodwill of industry contacts. If they give a negative review, that publisher blacklists them. So they can't give big publishers or big games negative reviews ever without risking the future of their company.

This isn't an IGN-specific problem. It's endemic to the industry. All big-name reviewers are beholden to this and can't be trusted. All companies that make their money reviewing big games before (or shortly after) they come out, or giving up-to-date industry or event news, are beholden to this and cannot be trusted. They're not reviewers, they're freelance PR reps for AAA publishers, and the occasional disjointed review like this among a sea of hogwash is the closest you'll see to honesty from any of them.

For those who aren’t getting the brilliance- this couple (?) is streaming World of Warcraft and I think are dressed up as their characters. Two normal sized people, one of whom is playing a dwarf.
