I think as I get older and rapidly approach the oncoming train that is my inevitable death after 643 years of life I realize that the thing I really enjoy in a game is a constant stream of novel levels, particularly sprawling themed dungeons.
Games keep trying to sell me on vast open worlds or renderable arm hair and shit but my most enjoyable experiences in the past year have been Verho, Dread Delusion and Lunacid, with of course dabbling into the various quest and dungeon mods produced for Morrowind.
All I basically need in a game now is to give me a dumb looking sword and put me through a bunch of weird areas esoteric designed by some sleep-deprived freak in their apartment and that lasts me for thirty hours. I don't think there's a more pure gaming experience by the end of it.
