I would pay maggie stiefvater to tell us who adam's first kiss was, because I'm pretty sure it was important to him. not the person per say, but the whole concept, because remember when he kissed ronan, he immediately thought, 'oh damn this was probably ronan's first kiss', suggesting it meant something to him and that he hoped ronan wouldn't regret it.

trc deleted scenes: a masterpost

this is a post born primarily out of personal interest/necessity but i hope it will be useful to other people too. outtakes and cut scenes from trc have been floating around fandom spaces for a while, but they are infuriatingly hard to track down: some of them have been reblogged without tags and are therefore lost in the depths of tumblr, some i did not get to reblog before maggie deleted her tumblr, and some were posted to twitter and subsequently deleted.

so, since i was tired of having to dig through months and months of my trc tag (and often coming up empty handed), i decided to compile all the deleted scenes i could into this post. it is possible that i have forgotten some, and if that is the case, please let me know.

i owe a big debt of gratitude to kelly @harvardparrish for compiling a downloadable archive of maggie’s tumblr; most of the outtakes below i retrieved by browsing maggie’s “how i write” tag in the archive and taking screenshots of the relevant posts. others were screenshots that were posted to twitter by maggie, which i managed to save before the tweets were deleted.

what she means: on page 41 of The Raven Boys it says that some of the books at Monmouth are Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Editions. whose are they? ronan is gay, and generally makes no effort to hide that. i don't recall him ever mentioning a girl in a sexual context. are they ganseys? does Richard "Dick" Campbell Gansey III own copies of Sports Illustrated? how unseemly for a gansey. are they noah's? does noah keep, as one of his very few posthumous earthly possessions, multiple copies of Sports Illustrated?adam parrish would never. never leave something like that at Monmouth, if he had them at all, which he probably wouldn't. who owns these?? who purchased these and keeps them at Monmouth?? the world may never know

adam parrish being just a little villain-coded is so fun to me. it never stops tickling me that the set-up WAS THERE for him to betray gansey in a worse version of the story — he was the rejected member of the love triangle, he was bitter about gansey's privilege, he's methodically ambitious about getting his in a dog-eat-dog world. in TRB, when he stole the camaro, ran off and killed whelk, that COULD'VE been the beginning of a villain arc.

but he loves his friends too much to let them go, and his friends love him too much to let him go. so he's their fucked-in-the-head sly friend who blackmails people with made-up child murder and scams rich harvard students with fake readings and pathologically lies like he breathes <3 something so wrong with him but he's a good guy <3
