NIGHT SCHOOL.
roleplay sentence starters of the 1981 film.
feel free to edit according to scenario / pronouns.
tw: violence, death, paranoia, decapitations, stalking.
that's what you wanna be when you grow up?
ain't you going home, [ name ]?
who is it you came for?
you're going to make somebody a great wife someday.
we were pretty busy last night, remember?
we could have breakfast in bed.
that's all you think about, isn't it?
see how i cleaned up the house for you?
that sounds boring.
how do you want your eggs?
your wit is outstanding.
it wouldn't do you any harm to stay involved.
we could take a long walk on the beach.
it's your day off.
that makes two killings in a week.
no fingerprints, no suspects, no motives, no nothing.
this you're not going to believe.
here comes the bullshit.
that's an odd word to use.
sticks and stones, [ name ], sticks and stones.
scenes like this are a direct link with man's primitive past.
this whole thing must be upsetting for you.
how could anyone do such a thing?
i think you're dealing with a psychotic killer here, a maniac that strikes without rhyme or reason.
i ain't got no degree, but i can give a lecture on that subject.
you're not walking home alone tonight, are you? after what happened?
you scared me half to death!
so what's the answer?
we keep coming back to water.
do you really believe man can go out and kill? just like that?
would you like to know the statistics of that kind of coincidence?
that isn't the way i heard it.
people don't kill just for the hell of it. there's always a reason.
oh, christ! you're not going to have a jealous tantrum, are you?
i'd do anything in the world for you, but it's not enough, is it?
what's the matter? you got the blues?
do you have to flirt with the waitress?
i was just trying to be friendly.
if you believe that bullshit, honey, you'll believe anything.
why on earth didn't you tell me about this sooner?
just get hold of yourself, alright?
would you like to spend the night at my house? that way we can talk and you won't feel so alone.
would you let me clean up, for christ's sake?
don't cut yourself on that glass.
you can't count on help these days.
ah, go to hell.
is there a law that says i have to go to work if i don't feel good?
now, what's this, a hobby of yours?
do you have a search warrant?
they seriously believe that in taking the heads of their enemies, they are possessing their life force.
even the most depraved homicidal maniac wouldn't do that just for fun.
don't get so damn excited.
all you need to be a good cop is a good pair of shoes.
RE-ANIMATOR.
roleplay sentence starters of the 1985 film.
feel free to edit according to scenario / pronouns.
tw: violence, death, murder, animal death, medical.
you idiots! you'll ruin my notes.
i have to record his vital signs!
you killed him.
i gave him life.
charge up the paddles.
[ name ], we have done everything that can be done for this woman.
[ name ], your optimism is touching, but a waste of time.
a good doctor knows when to stop.
don't know why they keep locked doors around here. nobody wants in … and ain't nobody getting out.
oh, i'm sorry, [ name ]. i didn't mean to scare you.
i just didn't know anybody was here.
what were you researching?
this should interest you, [ name ].
i know your work, [ name ].
[ name ] and i would love it if you came to dinner.
i have to go.
be reasonable.
he's out of touch with the times.
that's just the way he is, the world's last living puritan.
back to square one.
what are you doing?
there's not a jury in the world that would convict me.
can i help you?
you're here about the apartment.
didn't we meet this morning? you're ...
excuse me just one sec.
i'm afraid the place is still kind of a mess, [ name ].
does this building have a basement?
i think this will be just fine.
there was no more i could learn there.
do we … have a deal?
we all want to retain our personalities in some idyllic afterlife.
we all pray for some miracle, some drug, potion, pill.
i suggest you get yourself a pen!
how can you teach such drivel?
these people are here to learn and you're closing their minds before they even have a chance!
what are you here for, [ name ]?
it's all right, sweetheart, you can drink up.
i have a study date.
would you join us for a glass of wine?
why don't you study here?
okay, what is it?
look, it's not you, really. it's just a lot of little things.
i told you, he's a little cracked.
i haven't seen him since we got here.
what are you doing in my room?
[ name ], what the hell are you doing in here?
it was dead when i found it.
you couldn't call, or write a note?
what would a note say, [ name ]? "cat dead, details later"?
i think you both better leave, now.
you know, i would not want to see a fellow student, especially one as promising as yourself, be thrown out of school, out of the profession … on moral ground.
that is none of your business.
[ name ], what is that?
there it goes under the stairs, it's under the stairs.
all life is a physical and chemical process, correct?
i've conquered brain death.
you are the perfect person to assist me.
we can defeat death.
you will help me.
god! why does it make that noise?
birth is always painful.
i hadn't expected such nonsense from you, [ name ], but i should have guessed it when you took up with [ name ].
you've involved [ name ] in your insanity?
i think you're being blinded by your emotions.
you gonna be around for a while?
oh, well, what will they do? embalm us?
let's go, we're not going to find anything.
he's been dead for hours.
something should have happened by now.
you can't stop me! i followed you here, and i'm gonna follow you until you listen to me!
i mean, someone could be coming any minute!
is [ name ] in there with you?
help me get him up.
[ name ], we can bring him back to life.
welcome back to life.
who's that over there?
i'm calling the police!
he can't hear you, or see you.
is that absolutely necessary, [ name ]?
please let me talk to him.
i want you to think of me as someone you can come to with your problems.
what did you do to him?
i'll tell you, [ name ], everything.
i don't have to talk to you.
interesting little laboratory you have here.
let us get to the point.
this is not magic, as you say, i am a scientist.
my work is gone.
enough is enough!
i guess i'm just getting paranoid.
you should go away. transfer to another school.
i must say, [ name ] … i'm very disappointed in you.
you steal the secret of life and death, and here you are trysting with the bubble-headed coed, you're not even a second-rate scientist.

daniel tilts his head, but so does armand. he doesn't intend to mirror him, but his statement rouses questions from the elder vampire. did it matter what he built his personality atop of? fear became a survival tactic. and his talent for enduring should have been enough of a testament to his ability perfect it. fear was a durable base and he could scrub the personality like greasepaint and start over. easy. flawless. a game of make believe.
the truth was more like a flicker of light between broken shingles. the whole of his personality sometimes a flash that few witnessed unrestrained. armand was the sum of roles.
❝ the fearless, invincible vampire is a lie. ❞ if honest, he thought he feared and fought death more in immortality than he had while alive. a dishonest smile tugs at the corners of his mouth, however, ❝ like the grateful fledgling. ❞ even the most desperate for the blood would learn its flaws ( the tradeoff isn't always worth it ). what's less comfortable about the conversation is that it exposes his own vulnerabilities. the fearful fledgling, the feared coven master — whoever he was supposed to be now, in the aftermath of louis. he straightens in his seat, shoulders against the back of the chair. daniel calling it a lousy foundation carries a sting that he tries his best to ignore. armand rationalizes his foundation will keep them alive more than an entertaining personality.
❝ look around, daniel. which frightens you more? is it the chaos that has been set into motion since the very second you opened louis's letter? or is it me? ❞
Daniel held Armand's gaze for a moment longer than necessary. That smile of his the one that never quite reached his eyes , made him want to laugh and roll his eyes at the same time. Of course Armand turned it into a philosophical question. His fingers tapped once against the arm of the chair before going still. The room felt smaller whenever Armand started talking about fear, as if every answer came with a trap hidden somewhere inside it. "You keep acting like those are the only two options." Daniel said. His voice wasn't sharp, but he always held some grudge in his tongue. Guess it's the special tone he reserves for all these vampires, erupting into his life after decades. "You keep acting like those are the only two options." The world ending or the vampire sitting across from him. Daniel leaned forward slightly. "The letter didn't scare me." That wasn't entirely true. The letter had changed everything. It had reopened doors he had spent years convincing himself were sealed, he could had died happy thinking it had been a fever dream induced by his intake of drugs and alcohol. But fear wasn't the first thing he'd felt when he saw Louis's handwriting. Curiosity had been. "And you don't scare me the way you think you do."
That dishonest smile was still sitting on Armand's face, and Daniel found himself focusing on it. The grateful fledgling is a lie. The fearless vampire is a lie. One role after another, stacked so high that maybe Armand couldn't see where any of them ended anymore. "Seriously?" Daniel said. "Who would ever be grateful of being made into this? Specially at my age and under the circumstances that transpired." The words landed before he could soften them but he didn't bother trying afterward. And for a second he wondered if he'd pushed too far, Then he remembered who he was talking to. Armand had endured far worse than blunt honesty. Perhaps its what he needs out of Daniel. It seem to him that most of them haven't dealt with honesty in decades. Or centuries. "I always stepped over the line when I was human. I wasn't afraid then, and i'm not afraid now."

R☆ckstar☆ ★ ✮ ★ ☆: Lestat's tongue is laced with the kind of venom that can drop an army. He would like to call the vampling a little, filthy alcoholic. To be a part of the endless, immortal coven? HA! And to have his maker as the monster of the nightly shadows. Lestat can smell the stench of dungeon-dwelling on Molloy, even if the journalist himself carries alternative memories. The rockstar's eyes peruse the author of his nightmare. What a cheap trick: getting rich and famous off of someone else's tragedy. Defiantly raising his chin, Lestat glares at his counterpart through the tinted lenses of his sunglasses. "Truth?" Lestat chuckles, sweeping his hair behind his shoulder with a brush of an accessorized hand. Everyone told Molloy a story he should have sought out in the first place. The original told by a broken-hearted telephone. Anyone on the street could have told Daniel about Lestat de Lioncourt and he would have eaten it up instead of seeking the real fucking thing.
"Your truth is a made-up lie." The rockstar spits flatly. He does not feel remorse for a nosy journalist. "Reap what you sew." A pearly sneer pairs with his stubborn righteousness. Lestat is owed at least that: a recognition that the world is wrong and he is right for being himself. Flawed or not, he gave the world a show to erase the Interview from the face of the world. Was the novel a trap? It certainly caught his attention to change the trajectory of his quiet life in Canada. What a joke.
"You," Lestat snaps. "Chose to become a part of it. No one asked you to chase after us, Danny. No one asked for you to defame me." The vampire points his index finger at himself, gritting his teeth. The more Molloy speaks, the tenser tha rockstar grows, annoying by the circumstances. He still agreed to do a documentary and to step in front of the rolling camera because if a book is going to blacken his name, he may as well create a world full of tar. "As I see it," the rockstar tilts his head, stretching his lips into a wide smile. "You got what you deserved."
Daniel doesn’t answer right away. That was the thing with Lestat; you sort of learned pretty quickly that silence pissed him off more than yelling ever could. He sits back in his chair instead, looking tired more than intimidated. One hand rubs at his mouth while the other keeps hold of the cane between his knees. The old reporter stare settles in after a second. Sharp. Annoyingly calm. “Wow.” Daniel says finally. “Still rehearsing speeches in the mirror, huh?” Lestat gets that look on his face immediately. The one that says he’s about three seconds away from either biting someone or starting a concert tour. Daniel keeps going before he can interrupt.
“You know what’s funny? You always do this., from what I heard about you.” His hand motions vaguely toward Lestat like he’s pointing out bad architecture. “You turn every goddamn thing into theater. Every conversation’s a trial. Every person who looks at you wrong is suddenly part of some grand conspiracy against the great Lestat de Lioncourt.” There is a pause then , adding shortly after another comment as he pulls a pack of smokes out of his pocket. A dry laugh slips out of him. “The world is your stage. And Christ, you make it sound like I hunted you people down with a crossbow. Louis came to me. Twice, actually. First time, I was a kid with a tape recorder and a drug problem. Second time?” Daniel shrugs. “Well, that might had been also my fault. But I hate incomplete work.”
His eyes flick briefly over Lestat’s face behind the glasses. “Louis lied. Armand lied. You lied. Everybody in your little undead soap opera was editing the footage depending on who they hated that decade.” Daniel leans forward slightly. “The difference is I actually admitted when I got things wrong. Which is why I am here to get the other side of this. . .if I count Claudia's diaries, square sided story.” There’s no fear in him. Not really. Annoyance, maybe. Exhaustion. The kind that comes from spending too many years untangling other people’s damage, and he has an inkling that while Lestat might be more easy to get a full truth out of, he might also be his hardest interview to date.
“And defame you?” Daniel scoffs. “Buddy, I didn’t have to do a thing there. You walked into rooms covered in blood and velvet capes acting like the second coming of Mick Jagger. Half your reputation built itself.” He watches the tension in Lestat’s jaw with the clinical focus of someone who’s spent decades interviewing dangerous men. Then his voice lowers a notch, starting as usual, his recorder and notes. “This is your one chance to get it all out. So, should I stay or should I go?”
