Y/n was a brick much more even than the others, sides crisp, though she never cared for that sort of thing. She wasn't as rough as the bricks she'd spent her whole life around either, and that was something nobody had pointed out, due to jealousy.
They'd all wished they could be like her, that wish turning bitter and causing them to lash out. Y/n never had any friends, not even a proper acquaintance in all her time, everyone aware of her image and reputation.
It was another regular day, sitting around without anything better to do than watch the clouds roll by, that Y/n observed the commotion. She'd heard that a group of strange kids had arrived some time ago, and saw their ship land not too far away, but she wasn't very interested in gossip, so that ended up brushed aside.
It turned more than relevant as that same ship fired. Everything seemed peaceful before this, still, regular. In a moment, that stillness turned into a burst of fire and light, an explosion that rattled Y/n out of her spot in a split second frame of uncomfortable movement. Y/n was afraid her perfect sides would be decimated in the blast, lines turning gritty. If she had hands they would be quivering.
She saw the group of newcomers fight through the crowd that had gathered without Y/n's notice, streaming and weaving in a desperate struggle to get back together. They must have gotten split up.
The people that made up the crowd had faces twisted in anger and frustration, some boy yelling about betrayal.
Y/n didn't listen to him, couldn't, with everything else going on around her. Objects were being hurtled and people were being pushed, voices muffled other voices and she sat on the outskirts of it, as always.
This was too far from her regular life, and she wasn't anyone built for the spotlight, despite how wonderful y/n was. Nobody's eyes would be on the brick that was so far outside her comfort zone. And that thought proved correct as the people wove around her, moving about without doing much of anything. Terribly loud.
She was contemplating how she'd get back to her regular place without limbs, when it happened. Something she never would have dreamed about. Someone she didn't get the chance to look at had picked her up, had leaned her back and threw Y/n through the air.
She rocketed through the space without her usual, still grace, orange-tinged brown gleaming in the light. Y/n barely had the time to see where it was she would land, to spot the boy in her way. He had gleaming blue orbs that were clearer than any sky she had seen before, an even, square-ish face with the perfect proportions. He was strong and tall, in a poised, fighting stance, leaning over a girl with brown hair.
Y/n paid her no mind as she stared into his eyes, before she struck right above them and the boy crumpled to the ground.
