Remember the Roaring 20s? A time of partying, speakeasies, and excellent fashion.

Well, welcome to the 2020s, a time of sweatpants, livestreams, and political chaos.

“@The_Great_Gatsby2020” explores the American classic by F. Scott Fitzgerald 100 years later. Through the eyes of Nick Carraway (and his telehealth therapist), watch the world of Gatsby reimagined as an online community of livestreamers. Gatsby and Nick build their brand as gamers while Daisy Buchanan raises her children with her husband Tom on a family vlog. Celebrity gossip, money, and online fame threaten Gatsby and Nick’s new American dream as they pursue the “green light.”

Written by Kat Abdallah and directed by Koda Saunders, Rainy Day Artistic Collective is showcasing the world premiere of “@The_Great_Gatsby2020” for our Fall Virtual Mainstage. Performances will take place via livestream only (so you can participate from anywhere in the world, in theory!) over two weekends: September 12-14 and 19-21. There will be a small stipend of $50 available for all who are cast. If you are interested in auditioning, please fill out a form linked below and include a resume, headshot, and an audition tape of you performing a contemporary monologue (1-2minutes in length).

CALL FOR MONOLOGUES (AND ACTORS)

Join us for a showcase of monologues for our Pride Month event: “[ ]… But Make It Gayer.” The theme this year is taking familiar stories/characters/etc. and adding and/or enhancing a queer element.

If you have a 2-5 minute monologue that works for this event, we’d love to consider it! Submission deadline is 11:59pm PST on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025.
