Jackie: A spine surgeon, recently assumed bisexual, outside the island she sleeps in a pretty nightgown and with a ribbon in her hair. She is Jack, but with even worse mommy and daddy issues. Margo constantly competes with her and gloats not so secretly over her failures. When she was little, Christian treated her like the apple of his eye, but he began to distance himself from her when she hit puberty, becoming strict and condescending. She has a major conflict with her femininity and with being a woman in general, obsessed with being taken seriously and convinced that everything would be better if she had been a man. She recently divorced a nurse who cheated on her with Sarah, a former patient whom Jackie befriended and who he got pregnant.

After her divorce, Christian comes over and takes care of her, just like when she was a child, filling her with hope. But that only lasts a second. He will travel to Sydney again, leaving when she needs him most to do who knows what, and they have a big fight in which she yells at him not to bother coming back. That is the biggest guilt of her life.

Jamie: A con woman, furious lesbian, outside the island she sleeps in a tank top and boxers. If Sawyer is the peak of masculinity that rich wives fall head over heels for, Jamie is the femme fatale who has all the rich husbands at her feet. She hates what she does, how she has to look for it, and every man she is with increases her despise for them all. She ends up in Sydney looking for the man who killed her parents, but she is not deported; she returns to the United States on her own, having decided that she will also kill Hibbs. The first few days after the crash feel like the best thing that has ever happened to her. She feels free, she allows herself to be the butch she always wanted to be, she is feared by others, and she has everything to make them move at her whim.
