Formatting your Manuscript
If youāre planning on one day turning your manuscript in to literary agents and publishing houses, you need to make sure itās formatted correctly. In many cases, your manuscript will be skipped over if it isnāt done to industry standard, so hereās the basics that youāll need if you donāt want to be ignored. Before I get started, please know that this is aimed specifically atĀ fiction manuscripts. If youāre writing non-fiction or a memoir, the expectations will be different, so it would be wise to Google what you need.
The Basics
Make sure your font is 12 point Times New Roman, Courier New, or Arial. These are the only three fonts you are allowed to pick from.
Your spacing should be 1 inch on all sides of the text. This is the default on most word processors, but double check your settings just to be sure.
Your text should be double spaced.
All of your indentations must be a half inch. Do not press indent. Instead, drag over the top arrow on the ruler to have every new paragraph automatically indent.
The Title Page
The top left-hand corner of your title page will have all your personal information. They want to see your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, the novelās genre, and word count.
Your novelās title is allowed to be between 20-24 point font if you want. Bold is also an option, but not necessary.
The title will appear halfway down the title page.
āA novel by [your name]ā will be about three quarters of the way down the page.
The Next Pages
If you have a dedication, it will be on its own page.
If you have some sort of verse or quote, those will also need their own pages.
Do not include a page for acknowledgements.
The Chapters
Chapter titles will be 12 point font. No bolding or italics.
Chapters will start from one quarter to halfway down the page.
An easy way to format chapter headings is to press enter five or six times
Make sure you always start your chapters the same way every time.
When you start a new chapter, make sure you use a page break to bump the new chapter onto a new page. This will keep it in place so that it will never budge, no matter how much you cut out or add to the previous chapter.
Page Numbers
Page numbers will start with 1 on Chapter 1 of your manuscript. Page numbers will not appear on the title page or dedication page.
Page 1 will be labeled in the footer of Chapter 1. It should be centered.
Page 2 will be in the header of the next page.
From page 2 onward, your headers will be labeled like this:
If you insert a section break after the title and dedication pages, it will make it easier to insert the page numbers.
For the most part, this is the most important of what youāll need to know for formatting your manuscript. I used this video as reference, so Iām trusting everything it says is true because it was made by an author who has several novels published, and because it was uploaded this year, it should be up to date.
But just remember, whenever you go to turn in a manuscript, make sure you check the website of the agent or publisher youāre trying to contact. They might have specifications that differ with the ones stated in this video, and you should always do whatever you can to abide by what they want.
Reblogging aggressively. Some publishers will throw your manuscript into the slush pile or, worse, the trash if you donāt follow their desired format. Spec fic publishers are especially strict about manuscript formatting.
Also reblogging aggressively.
they were non-binary... but no one believed them because they had HUGE TITS
there's something so compelling about stories where a character's virtues intensify into flaws that lead to their downfall. loyalty and love becoming so all-consuming that compassion outside of them ceases to exist. duty overwhelming any moral compass until order becomes more important than justice. selflessness so intense it becomes self-destruction. let me watch while whatever saved the hero in the beginning destroys them. let me see them fall to their own worst impulses disguised as what once made them good.

I am a WHORE for āthe love is requited, theyāre both just idiotsā
āThey are STUPIDLY competent at EVERYTHING except each other.ā
Weird peeve time. Calling lab grown gemstones āfakeā is stupid because itās the same shit just not formed naturally. An artificially grown diamond is the same shit as a natural diamond it is the exact same material bro itās all fuckign carbon
Itās carbon itās pretty and it didnāt involve slave labor whatās not to love??? Hi Iām having geology opinions tonight apparently. And Iām right
There is so much bullshit in the diamonds industry to be mad about tbh. It also ties into the bullshit of the wedding industry as a whole but we donāt have the time to unpack all that
not even going to lie, the day i learned i could get like 15 lab grown rubies the size of dimes for $20 is the day i spent $20 on rubies, and i have never once said to myself āman, i wish this cost $1,600 and the lives of eight children to produceā
We are a pro-lab-grown mineral blog here, not only is it massively cheaper but massively more ethical as well in many cases.
another very cool lab grown gem is Moissanite. It has a 9.25 on the mohs hardness scale where diamond is a 10. Moissanote also has a 2.69 refractive index in comparison to diamondās 2.419 and here is the differenceĀ
and the best thing about moissanite? It is all lab grown and it costs only a fraction of what diamond costs. So fuck the diamond indsutry and buy lab grown gems which cost significantly less
Also itās just cool to think of some mad scientist lookin person doing shit against the law of the universe and making pretty gems for you. Like cmon. This shouldnt be allowed probably. But humans really be like on gOD i want some shiny an just started MAKIN em
for years people wanted alchemy, well now we have alchemy and weāre making gemstones out of it and suddenly āit doesnāt countā anymore
Can confirm. My wedding ring is moissanite and even just washing my hands with soap and water make the thing look like a spotlight on my finger.
Ive had jewelers do a double take when I went in to buy something for a relative.
Plus its discovery was an in an impact crater from a meteor by french chemist Henri Moissan.
If that isnt the coolest shit ever. Something from space made this and it looks better.
11/10 will always recommend.
Real lawyer plays Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney
Japanese law doesn't require evidence to be presented for review by both parties. "SURPRISE!!! I have facts you weren't aware of!" is very much a thing there.
The entire game was written to show how messed up the Justice System is there.
Japanese courts have a 99% conviction rate. In essence, if you are accused of a crime you are already considered to be guilty and it is up to you to proveĀ otherwise if you can. Remember in the end of Persona 5, where the person who falsely accused you of assaulting them confessed to everything on national television but you were still in prison until your friends tracked down every witness and got them all the recant their testimonies individually? That was in no way exaggerated.
Also Japanese police have a 90+% rate of successfully arresting aĀ āsuspectā for every crime they investigate. At first this sounds really impressive, how they always track down the criminal, until you realize that they do it through a combination of refusing to investigate crimes which seem hard to solve or are likely to involve organizes crime or politicians (lots ofĀ āsuicidesā andĀ āaccidentsā which are very blatant murder), and any time they doĀ open a case but fail to figure everything out in the first day or two they just grab a convenient scapegoat (usually poor, frequently an immigrant or ethnic minority).
There are also very few restrictions on how long you can beĀ āinterrogatedā for after arrest, or what they can do to you during the interrogation. Almost all the accused confess to everything... eventually. Regardless of whether they were actually anywhere near the incident in question.
Yeah no, death note was also about how fuck up japanese police are. The reason the death note causes people to have heart attacks if you dont put a cause of death is because thats the go to excuse cops use if they dont want to investigate a case or cant solve it fast enough. And giving the death note to the police chiefs son and then exposing that son to be a fuckin freak and mass murderer was very much extremely intentional. The japanese justice system is extremely fucked up
Ok I know this has been said but
Normalize disliking people and avoiding them without starting a conflict and insisting that they're bad people. You don't actually need to be able to call someone toxic and abusive in order to justify that you're not vibing with them.

Azerothian Baseborn Surnames
Baseborn surnames are generally surnames given to bastards or orphans.
Primarily a custom used by cultures who place a lot of stock in bloodlines and surnames, therefore mostly Alliance.
Azerothian custom only, excludes Draenei/Orcs and other alien settlers.
Location based, not race based.
Changes after a deeply altering and traumatic event to place births more effectively.
Provinces/Areas have been grouped into Geographical/Cultural locales for ease.
Some areas are not grouped, generally because of individual significance.

Iām sure someones already said this but I often see Tumblr described as a hellsite. This is fundamentally incorrect.
Tumblr is the faesite. Everybody is super confused and lost, you keep running into random places. Somehow you end up stuck there forever after interacting a couple of times. The people are all strange, everybody simultaneously seems to be from the future and the past as if time is meaningless.
also technology breaks at random, and sometimes you just suddenly feel a thousand years old
everybody has a half dozen names and none of them are their ārealā name.
which name(s) you know gives you different powers over them.
there are Rules but you mostly have to figure them out for yourself.
getting the Rules wrong or breaking them can cost you more than you ever even knew you had.
Maximum Horny at all times
be careful what you wish for or you just might get it

the number of times i think about the full body viking skeleton i saw in the museum is ridiculous like when i say it haunts me i mean it actually haunts me
every time i remember the questions are endless ā what was his name? what did his mother call him? what sounds did he wake up to? what sounds did he die to? how old was he when he died? how old when he fell in love? how old when he first fell out? who cried with him and laughed with him? who cried for him? how many miles of separation can i draw between my ancestors and him? was he kind, serious, jokey? was he sombre or impulsive? was he chatty and good-humoured or a cantankerous asshole? likeā¦i have never stopped thinking about this.
the fact that at one point in time this was a living breathing person. with memories and petty hates and the dumbest jokes. and friends he loved. and the fact that he probably at some point burst out into drunken song or punched someone in an argument or GOT punched in an argument or tripped into the mud while his friends pissed themselves laughing or or or orā¦countless orās into infinity
and the fact that before all of that this massive skeleton was tiny toddler (was he scared of the dark? did he squabble with his siblings? did he have siblings?) who may or may not have hid behind his mother or probably got hoisted onto an adultās shoulders and in his little mind thought this person was the strongest human in the world and that he could hold the whole sky up just by standing there like that and as long as he was up there he was king of the world or could be.
likeā¦what am i supposed to do with this? what does ANYONE do with this? how are you supposed to cope with the enormity of this while at the same time realising just how tiny and fleeting our lives are? there is literally more than a THOUSAND years between us & ALL of it has been pinched down to a glass case not even 2 inches thick likeā¦iām losing my mind.
I got this feeling when I saw some petroglyphs on the side of a cliff like.. a human made those. That human felt all of the emotions I feel they went through the same universal human experience and they each had vivid internal lives and memories. Wild.
ok this is next level and i honestlyā¦i honestly canāt
during my prehistory module we got given Roman pottery and roofing slabs that had thumb prints in the handles and I put my thumb over those thumb marks and cried in the middle of the tutorialĀ
I do pottery, and itās one of my favorite things about the medium: that you can often see the shape of someoneās fingers in the surface. I love it when someone just shoves a finger somewhere while throwing, and leaves it there as a place for YOU to put your finger. Little thumbrests on top of mug handles is a fave. āHow did you make those ridges like that on the outside? How did you make that spiral on the bottom?ā āWith my fingers.ā
All of this.Ā
At Wells Cathedral in England the stairs down from the chapter house have had dips worn into their stone by centuries of human feet taking the most direct route up and down.Ā
Thinking about the immense distances between the stars makes me panic, but looking back into human history gives me peace.Ā
Reminds me of when we got to see this exposition on ancient egypt.Ā
I was like,Ā āWow a real life papyrus!ā
but then my mom said, clearly moved, āWow, thatās someoneās handwriting.ā
That moment when History becomes People.
āWhy study History? If you donāt like knowing the models of every airplane and gun ever made for ww2 thatās how history nerds areā
Oh there is so much humanity reaching out to us to take us by the hands and say
āWe dreamed of you and hoped you too would be!ā
This why I became an archaeologist ⤠Reconstricting past human behaviour will always fascinate me
I love this stuff so much. I love being reminded that humans evolved as social creatures. So much so that we feel an intense desire to belong to each other, both long after theyāve passed or before theyāve been born. We have so much love and hope for the people of the future but people seem to forget that we are the subjects of hope and love that our ancestors had for us. We are the future they desperately hoped for, wished for, out of love for us as a concept. Because weāre still human. Still like them. And every time Iām reminded that they sang and danced and loved and made and justā¦were. Just like I do. Every time I walk along a river or stream in a quiet forest, I feel the beat of a long-forgotten ancestorās heart in the drum of my footsteps. Every time I touch my forehead to someone elseās while clasping hands or forearms, Iām reminded of a primal need to be with my fellow man. Just like they did. Every time I get excited by a rustling in the bushes or a colorful critter or the trill of a familiar song, the latent tug at my heart reminds me Iām another in a long, long line of people who did just the same. People who found pleasure in the same things I do, who felt home and community in the ideas of all of us. Past, present, and future. That everything we do, someone did before. That weāre never alone because our ancestors walked the same path years and years ago. And feeling that little tug in your heart, it reminds you that theyāre there with you still, walking that same path again because humans arenāt meant to walk alone.
