we all know how Sprouts scarf is some how alive in twisted form. So what if his scarf just took Sprouts place since Sprout was struggling with being separated from Cosmo?

His scarf is connected to his body by Ichor and flesh, and kinda just caries the head around, that way it still looks like sprout bc it’s his body, his scarf kinda keep him all together as one in a way. 

Since his scarf is alive bc of the Ichor now, you can kinda treat it as a two headed snake and could also be Sprouts loyal pet in a way. Not only that but with the scarf also being a source of flowing bodily Ichor, it could also be a reason as to why most of that Ichor is circulated mainly in his arm to not distort the body much more then it already is.

With the scarf wrapped around where his neck is, it acts as its own mouth for the body since the head is no longer attached. But the head is still alive. And probably when he catches other toons, either by the tentacle thingy or by himself, the scarf kinda just tosses sprouts head aside and just eats the toon. That or bake them into Tooncakes.

Charred sprout (more in-depth) 

Twisted sprout becomes charred sprout in blackout’s. He does this by setting his own head on fire (technically his scarf doing this but whatever) using his tail, and is uses his head as a lantern to see, but this ultimately scorches the whole body including itself (the scarf). Think of him as a walking lantern or beacon. And including the currant update for twisted sprout, he does this as a way to make finding twisted Cosmo on a black out floor much easier. 

This also plays info why is tail is on fire. The reason his tail is on fire is bc he was baking and his tail got stuck in the oven, and you know them ovens be catching on fire with Sprout. but he can’t really feel it so he uses it to set himself ablaze. 

After a blackout, he just shakes off the charred outer layer like shedding and goes bout his business.
