Some artworks I made in 2025!
I couldn't draw as much as in past few years but I'm still so happy of my progress 🩷
I had an idea for a Son of Mors au which is just a Pure Crack.
Basically, what little of Eos' consciousness remains decides "I'm going to ruin this guy's entire career prophecy".
Bahamut: *preparing to announce the next king*
Eos: *body checking him so he flies off the screen*
Crystal-Eos: Hail Vitale Lucis Caelum! Hail King of Lucis!
Regis and co: *extremely alarmed wtf expressions*
I mean it's can either be a Pure Crack (because a 5yo on the throne) or a Pure Angst (because a 5yo on the throne) and in this case I think I would prefer the first. Especially since Regis would have no idea where to even start looking for Nyx and also would be expecting somebody near his age and not a flipping kindergartener.
*shoos angst bunnies back under the bed*
Okay this is funny. And dramatic. In the over the top drama way one cannot help but laugh at.
On a meta level just... Bahamut used - something - to bind Eos. And it took her many human generations to scrape together enough power to jump on the opportunity presented to her. She takes the power of the human souls nestled within her heart, and speaks.
(That is just background meta for myself, because I need to have this make some amount of sense in my head. XD)
So
Regis is about to get the blessing of the Crystal as each new King does before the coronation. It should just be a formality, as it has been for nearly 10 generations already. Since there hasn't been more then one Lucis Caelum child per generation.
But then.
The Crystal surges and announces a name no one has ever heard of.
"Vitale Lucis Caelum, the Hidden."
No one knows what to do with that.
The coronation gets put on hold. Obviously. An announcement is made. The Gods have spoken and who is Regis to deny them? (He's secretly very relieved that it's not him who has to be King. Up until he meets the new King, that is.)
It's the scandal of the century.
Mors Lucis Caelum had another son. Someone fucked Mors Lucis Caelum of their own free will. At least Regis dearly hopes that's the case.
(It was totally a hate fuck. But very much consensual.)
And then come the shenanigans of trying to find Vitale Lucis Caelum.
@raven-6-10 @ertrunkenerwassergeist
I really like this idea! However, consider: What if this happened in the Crowe Morsdaughter 'verse, and Eos prompted the Crystal to proclaim [Crowe's Lucii Name and Title], Queen of Lucis!
...there would be - fascinating implications for putting a neglected almost-orphan on the Throne of Lucis. Not to mention how would they even find her in the first place? Unless the Witch sent a conveniently worded message to Mors (extremely unlikely) - Crowe has no birth certificate, no-one knows that Mors and the Witch fucked that one time (except for the parties involved and I don't see them sharing that information) - yeah. Unless Crowe does something to Get Herself Noticed, I think it would take pretty much divine intervention.
Also I'm not wondering about Crowe's Lucii name? Cornicula? (Latin for 'crow'.) Ales? Avis? (bird, winged creature, augury, omen). Raravia? (corruption/slurring of 'rare bird'). Leucophryia? (part of the latin name for the Willy Wagtail, a bird I have heard characterized as being incredibly angry and willing to tackle birds five times its size).
As for her Lucii title - I have to admit that I was headcanoning it as 'The Hidden' as well, but wouldn't be fun if it was something like 'The Forsaken' or 'The Nameless'? That would get any number of people very concerned very very quickly.
Okay, so Regis is going to go into this thinking his sister is his, like. Peer. Or older than him. He is not expecting a child. He is actually extremely upset that they shoved a child on the throne when he is a trained adult who could do it instead.
His first thought: What the FUCK did you do, Dad?!?!?!?!
And we know that the Prophecy was going to fuck Regis himself over badly but he doesn’t know that yet. It might have been announced on his coronation and that’s why Eos could intervene, it was the Moment when Everything Would Be Set In Stone and fuck that.
So Regis might find out about the imminent Prophecy coming for his son and come to the conclusion that the gods confused Crowe with her older self, who had been self-sufficient when the Prophecy came to pass. And he’s got to give them credit, they did do it to save his future son. But this has been very awkward and, more importantly, it’s fucked over his baby sister, who is a child.
He’s clearly got to do the Prophecy work himself to spare his kid and his sister. As soon as he figures out how.
@ertrunkenerwassergeist @raven-6-10 @becauseforoncethisisme
Ardyn, who is potentially the only non-Astral/deity individual who knows exactly what happened, is raising his wineglass in Eos's direction. Well played, grandmother. Well played.

Thought: Nyx-son-of-Mors and Crowe-daughter-of-Mors in *the same universe*. Regis has a younger brother AND sister. (And a mental breakdown. More then one woman /voluntarily/ slept with his father?!)
aepifghdageajo#
The sheer sibling engergy Nyx and Crowe wield is unreal. Of course, upon being told that Crowe is his younger sister (he's got two now!!!) he'll conclude that she'll be an Ulric just like him.
If we have Regis finding them while they're still kids that is.
If they're all adults and living in Insomnia, they're still going to be leaning into the sibling thing so hard. And they're so glad that they have someone to have an identitiy crisis with.
Libertus can feel himself aging 10 years when he learns just how caotic Lucis Caelums really are.
@ertrunkenerwassergeist @hamelin-born
Mors met Alyxa while trying to investigate the stories about the Witch of Galahd. It took quite some time to confirm that yes, such a person exists and has some actual powers. Long enough for Mors to have his spite-rage relationship with Alyxa and a son.
Eventually he does manage to secure a meeting with Kraja, which is where he trades his unborn daughter for an unspecified boon. (Which may or may not be connected to his investigation into Cosmogony, the prophecy and Ardyn)
***
I wonder if it would change anything about Crowe's circumstances once Kraja decides to abandon her. Does she still dumps her with a random Altius? Or does she send her to Mors' mistress.
After all, Alyxa is still a Galahkar, so there's no concern about Crowe being too disconnected from her roots like it would have been if she was send to live with Regis.
In that scenario, Crowe might grow with an actual family who wants her and an older brother who's absolutely ecstatic to have another little sister. And she can be Ulric too!
Hmmm, this might be the au where Nyx knows Ilias was his stepfather, if not who exactly his bio-father was.
@hamelin-born @raven-6-10
Crowe would be sent to Alyxa in this case. Nyx is her brother-in-blood after all. And the girl can then teach her brother about magic in exchange for staying there.
In this case, I think it would be interesting to have Crowe be the reason why Nyx knows that Ilias Ulric was not his birth father. Not that that really matters in Galahkari society.
But Crowe gets a real home and Nyx learns about magic.
None of them are really interested in the man you took part in bringing them into the world. They're both much more interested in the jungle around them, spending hours upon hours outside.
Nyx is delighted. After learning they shared a father, he decided that they shared Ilias as well and so he is determined to make her an Ulric as well.
And no, neither of them will know that Mors is their father until Regis shows up.
@ertrunkenerwassergeist @hamelin-born
Aaah, but is it "Regis shows up looking for the sibling that was chosen as the king" or "after mission gone wrong, Regis thinks Glaive Ulric might be Family"?
@ertrunkenerwassergeist @hamelin-born
Does this mean that Crowe is officially Crowe Ulric here? Because that would be lovely.
How about 'Regis finds Alyxa's note swearing Mors out for leaving him to raise two of his kids', and goes absolutely nuts?
Oh my, it's this time of year again! Happy Lantern Rite in Genshin Impct! Here is my favourite character from Liyue - one and only lord Rex Lapis!
I do not need a ffxv/stargate crossover.
But if I ever wrote it, The Misunderstanding would be hilarious (for me) (not for sg teams)
Remember the episode where Carter and O'Neill got stranded in Antarctica (:
Because it's kind of relevant to my idea (:
For Maximum Drama it should be entirely from Earth's pov.
So the reader can figure out what's going on but the sg is very much Outsider-pov-blundering in the dark.
@charlottedabookworm @starofthemourning @aniseandspearmint
Please, tell me more.
@hamelin-born
As you wish!
@charlottedabookworm @starofthemourning @aniseandspearmint
You see, you have the semi-standard plot of an SG team exploring a new planet of the week.
From the MALP scans and the previous scouting missions they know it's uninhabited but the 'gate is located in the basement of Ancient facility of some kind. Which on it's own is a great find but this one looks to have a working geothermal power tap and intact - if heavily passworded - database. Which the SGC really really wants.
Enough that the brass authorises a set-up of a semi-independent outpost similar to Alpha Site. A detachment of scientists, medical personnel and soldiers on rotation. Maybe forty people tops.
And since the address came from the Ancient Database via O'Neill so there's no danger of Goa'uld showing randomly. So really, easy-peasy mission.
Even if some people have a weird feeling like they're being observed.
@raven-6-10 @charlottedabookworm @starofthemourning @aniseandspearmint
#meanwhile the glaives get a briefing from cor#who heard from his hunter contacts#that some of them spotted traces of people moving in the forest north of leide#on that one penisula#so of course they gear up to check this out#and sure they find a military operation there#and maybe they don't look //exactly// like the nifs#but it wouldn't be the first time they hired a mercenary band#time to pry them out of that solheimr ruin#ffxv#stargate#sg1#my ideas
Oh, I like it! The SGC's tendency to make assumptions is coming back to bite! Toss in the fact that Eos can 1) Be labeled a Death World (meaning that the poor SGC group might end up being rescued by said Glaive+Cor group) and 2) Has, in some respects, a greater technological prowess then earth in the initial SGC-period and 3) A population with, to all intents and purposes, direct descent from the ancients (see: MAGIC) -
And you have the potential for a bunch of very interesting, very rapid revelations and Consequences.
Plus - and this is always a favorite scenario of mine - the SGC might be croggled at the fact that the Lucian government (AKA Regis) might regard them as interesting, but not a priority. He's got a prophecy to work with, a war taking place - the SCG doesn't have anything that he/Lucis wants.
@hamelin-born
@raven-6-10
Oh, the WILDLIFE ALONE is gonna be interesting for SG teams to handle, most worlds don't seem to HAVE much in the way of large wildlife.
I can't remember if there's ever an watsonian reason given for the doyalist 'cant afford extra special effects and want to limit the amount of dogs with glued on horns' reasons.
But i generally like the idea that large wildlife on most worlds tend to avoid the gates by a wide margen because there's annoying frequencies or something like that.
Anyway, with the gate being far underground on Eos, that might not be a thing here?
And like, the large wildlife on Eos is several magnitudes larger than anything someone from earth might expect. Eos has GODZILLA wildlife.
@hamelin-born
I'm gonna be honest, it will either be a No Prophecy au or it got derailed so hard in the past it's not even relevant by the time SGC stumbled on Eos.
Because I'm not juggling those plots.
@aniseandspearmint
Sure why not, the gate comes with that ultrasonic noisemaker to scare away wildlife and teenagers.
It probably won't work on demons, tho. But there might be other defences keeping them away.
Or maybe demons are less of a problem here.
@charlottedabookworm @starofthemourning
Ok, I had about five hours of sleep. Not enough but there are naptimes in my future.
For now, back to worldbuilding!
@hamelin-born @charlottedabookworm @starofthemourning @a-world-in-grey @cactusprisms
To get you up to speed, my convo with @aniseandspearmint from comments, that's relevant to this idea.
aniseandspearmint powiedział(a):
Maybe ancient alteran tech shields can keep out demons? Something something they’re responsible for the havens too? (And probably at least partially responsible for the scourge tbh given their actions elsewhere)
raven-6-10 powiedział(a):
@aniseandspearmint Ok I should probably clarify that SGC is //wrong// about the ruins. Sure they //look// like Ancient architecture but that’s because Solheim was copying the look.
And the havens are entirely magical and the work of humans in the generation post Astral War. Because I’m Done with Everything Is Ancient Tech Or Derived From It thing that stargate verse has going on.
aniseandspearmint powiedział(a):
@raven-6-10 Oh okay, yeah that makes sense! That does irk me too with everything in the stargate verse originating from the ‘four great races’. I was just thinking that if this IS an alteran research base, then they probably meddled you know? …. If its not alteran in origin, why is there a GATE there tho?
raven-6-10 powiedział(a):
@aniseandspearmint Why not? There’s shitton of gates all over the galaxy, some of them on worlds that are otherwise uninhabited. They could have left it there just in case. Or maybe a small group of them retreated to this part of the galaxy after the fall of Atlantis and relocated a gate for easier access. Who knows? Not me certainly.
Unless you mean the base in particular. Which was probably Solheim studying the thing tbh.
aniseandspearmint powiedział(a):
@raven-6-10 Yeah, good point. A lot of people fall into the mistake of HAVING to have answers for things there just might not be answers to! Its like, the og ring on EARTH wasn’t in its original place? And still isn’t! Its on an entirely different continent now! And the alterans were popping them on every planet they visited like flags so sure, there could be one on Eos without a deeper reason
Plus Solheim were presumably as curious about it as the military and scientists on earth were! So maybe this is a very similar set up to what happened on earth with the gate, except things derailed before they managed to figure out how to turn it on?
Yeah, so basically the Solheim Empire got their hands on a gate, managed to get past the outer casing to figure out: 1) it's a really high-tech thing inside; 2) doesn't match any of the known human cultures on their planet; 3) made to contain a stupid amount of energy for some purpose.
So they moved it and the DHD to a facility away from anything particularly important, and put it in the lowest levels so if it blew up on them it hopefully wouldn't take the entire countryside with it.
Why does the SGC think it's an Alteran facility?
Because I think it took place really early in the series, like between Jolinar and meeting the Tok'ra early. So they didn't actually see that many examples of Alteran architecture or tech. Their biggest finds were Heliopolis - which had that medieval castle aesthetic going - and that one ruin with the Archive.
So if they see a high-tech facility that's none-the-less several millennia old (and they didn't carbon date it exactly, either) and the address comes from the Ancient Database, they of fucking course are going to assume it's an Ancient place.
They are going to have a nasty wake up call (:
***
Back to Eos, I think this is a No Prophecy verse.
The thing with Somnus usurping the throne still went down, but a little differently :)
Like, Ardyn-never-arrived-at-Angelgard different :)
Like, there-was-actual-fucking-research- into-a-cure-to-the-Scourge different (:
So there are butterflies all over the place, even if I'm placing some nets so we have a mostly recognisable Eos to play with.
@hamelin-born @cactusprisms @aniseandspearmint @charlottedabookworm @ertrunkenerwassergeist
The biggest question is when should SG-1 show up.
Do they arrive before the Glaives raid the place and get caught with everyone else?
Or do they come and find an empty base, which has signs of recent combat everywhere?
Choices, choices.
@raven-6-10 @hamelin-born @aniseandspearmint
Ohhh. This idea is wonderful! Love it!
Personally, I like the idea that the SG Team finds signs of recent combat all over the ruins. That would give it all a fair bit of tension. Because what kind of weapon would leave these marks? (Magic. The answer is magic.)
Science guy (I think his name was Daniel? It's been years since I watched Stargate SG1) at one point says he's not sure if this is really an authentic Ancient site, but no one really listens to him.
(Another fun idea, but based on my own headcanons so entirely optional: some of the traps and security protocols of the building have been recently activated. Which was done by the Galahkari, because they are able to speak and read Sol and some of them can figure out reasonably quickly how the tech works. So now the Team might also think that some kind of Ancient(s) is also running around.)
@hamelin-born @ertrunkenerwassergeist @aniseandspearmint @charlottedabookworm
Ok, without getting too deep into my Galahd headcanons, yes they do speak Sol and yes, they reactivated the systems.
Not all of them obviously. They don't have clearance for that or passwords. But the power tap is drawing more power than before, there's actual lighting and not the tiny emergency lights from before, and the doors engaged the electronic locks where before they were just kind of shut and then shut down so could be forced open with a crowbar. The internal sensors and monitoring are also up-and-running.
So SG-1 is in for some wake up calls and mysteries.
@hamelin-born @ertrunkenerwassergeist @aniseandspearmint @cactusprisms
No idea how long it would take for the team to figure out that they were wrong about the planet being uninhabited. Probably more than few hours but definitely less than few days.
Like, I want them to leave the base at least for a little, to scout the area and try to figure out where everyone disappeared to. Because between having three soldiers in the squad it shouldn't take them long to realise the attack patterns point to attackers having come from the outside. So they would definitely want to confirm that.
Though, they would have likely expected a ha'tak has landed on the planet or something like that, and then they - whoever it was - had sent people in to assault the base.
Which would result in them wanting to at least check if the ship is still on-site, and if it's possible to mount a rescue operation.
At which point they probably run into the Wildlife.
@raven-6-10 @ertrunkenerwassergeist @aniseandspearmint @charlottedabookworm
SG1 are probably gonna have to be rescued by Cor+the glaive, aren't they?
Quite frankly, in your FFXV/SG1 crossover/fusion, I'm just *waiting* for the Terrans to speculate that they've *finally* found the furlings.
. . . and now I have to recheck the timeline for season 2. Because I'm not entirely sure if they even know Furlings are a Thing.
Like, this is after Heliopolis and the Ancient Database episodes. So they know about the meeting place between the four species and about the Asgard and the Alterans, who were two of those.
But when the hell do they learn about the Furlings? Actually, did they even met the Nox at that point ?
@ertrunkenerwassergeist @cactusprisms @aniseandspearmint
@hamelin-born
Update: yes, the SGC met the Nox (it was in season 1 actually).
They are also aware that the Furlings are a Thing. In that they have the writing from Heliopolis, one (1!) example of possible technology from the weather machine episode and O'Neill heard about them from the Asgard.
So they might possibly assume that the various high-tech ruins around Eos are due to the Furlings living there in the past. At least, until somebody says no, that was actually still us before we blasted ourselves back to the Iron Age.
@ertrunkenerwassergeist @cactusprisms @aniseandspearmint
I looked it up and canon says 'Ifrit turned on Solheim and so the other Astrals joined the conflict to brin Ifrit down'.
This might provide another layer of confusion because saying 'oh yeah, a God betrayed us and then we and the other Gods fought him and Solheim was destroyed in the process' gives me Goa'uld revolt vibes.
@raven-6-10 @hamelin-born @cactusprisms @aniseandspearmint
@raven-6-10 @ertrunkenerwassergeist @cactusprisms @aniseandspearmint
This is starting to sound like it's going to be just one interesting misunderstanding after another.
Also, imagine SG1 trying to do their whole 'these are fake gods' explanatory spiel, only for the Eosians to blink at them in confusion? It would only take one Galahdian to tilt their head back and yell for 'grandfather' to 'get your stormy ass down here already'.
It's a bit hard to equate gods with go'auld when said gods are fifty feet tall at minimum and look absolutely *nothing* like humans.
...although come to think of it, the Galahdian propensity to call Ramuh 'grandfather' might lead to yet another interesting misunderstanding.
Dick: Ah Uh You- random guy- come with me!*grabs Danny's wrist and pulls him along*
Danny, shrugging: Sure okay.
Dick, pausing: "Okay"?! This is Gotham! Don't just listen to weirdos who randomly grab you off the street.
Danny: But whatever you were doing seemed way more interesting than meeting my weird godfather for dinner.
Dick: Regardless- have more respect for your life!
Danny: *snorts*
Dick: Now let's go!*starts pulling Danny again*
Danny: Ok then. I am going to follow you cuz this is already a much nicer Kidnapping than what my godfather has done in the past.
Dick: the same guy who you we’re supposed to get dinner with has kidnapped you before?
Danny: yup first time was when I was 14. We get along a bit better now but anytime I can be a pain in the butt to him I will.

Danny, while experimenting with his shapeshifting (ecto changes form depending on intent and he's half alive so), got stuck in a form. Then he got caught by a sleezy freakshow/circus owner.
The form he's stuck in is a merman form. But it's not, like, a typical merman form.
He'd been trying to see if he could reshape his ecto while he was in human form, and he had! But he'd also gotten overenthusiastic in experimenting, added too many features unique to his ghost form, and now he can't shift into either form.
Human or ghost.
He's stuck.
He's stuck as a merman with his human features, his ghost-form eye color (it glows), his human form hair (tinted with glowing green-ish white), deep blue scales on his tail that fade into that seem glowing greenish white, and fully functional gills.
He also cannot use his ghost powers. He knows that they're there, but for some reason his current form will not allow their usage. Maybe...maybe he's using too much ghost energy to keep up the transformation?
Regardless, he got captured by some sleezeball and thrown into a traveling freakshow. Highly illegal, and he's slowly losing hope that he'll be able to escape, because he just. Can't. Shift. Back!
Then the sleezeball makes a stupid mistake; he puts the freakshow up in Metropolis.
Danny goes to sleep one day closer to a mental breakdown.
Danny wakes up to Superman floating in front of his tank, in the process of restraining Aquaman from quite literally murdering the sleezeball.
After a moment, Superman took over "restraining" the circus sleezeball, much to Danny's disappointment, and Aquaman came over to see Danny. Danny wasn't in the worst shape, but he certainly wasn't in good shape either. He was literally the only thing in the tank, it was too much of a hassle for the sleezeball to clean, and he clearly had no idea what kind of food to feed a merman. Really, it was the few kinder more human members of the circus that prevented Danny from going septic or starving.
Aquaman's mouth was opening and closing like he was trying to speak, but Danny actually couldn't hear anything through the glass. He tried to signal that, even tried to talk himself to get the point across, and it seemed to work. He seemed to get it and found the opening at the top of the tank.
Danny came up to him so he wouldn't try to get into the water, and sure enough, Aquaman frowned in disgust at the state of Danny's water. He looked at Danny and said something in a language Danny didn't recognize.
"Sorry, I don't know what that means?"
"I see." Aquaman's face fell in utter devastation. "That's alright. We'll get you out of here and back to the ocean in no time."
Danny tilted his head to the side. "I'm not from the ocean?"
Aquaman looked Danny up and down, from his hair to his tail and seemed to notice something off. "No?"
"Pulled him out of Lake Eerie." Slzeeze personified shouted from where Superman had him. "That means he ain't yours, king of the ocean, so you can't take him!"
Superman twisted the guy's arm to shut him up, which Danny appreciated.
"Ah of course! The Great Lake Tribes." Aquaman nodded, "That's why you didn't understand Atlantean. I was worried you'd been captive your whole life."
Danny kinda shrugged and maybe cringed, because that was kinda debatable. He wasn't part of some merfolk lake tribe, and he had technically been captive almost the entire time he's been stuck as a merman.
Danny didn't want to ask for their help with ghost stuff -he's pretty sure being a ghost is at least a little illegal and the Justice League was at least partially under government control- but if they took him to Lake Erie and he didn't know whatever underwater language they spoke, he might have to come clean about being a ghost anyway. But, it'll probably take them a while to get him over the the Great Lakes, so if he can figure out how to transform again before then, he'll be fine! What's the worst that could happen?
Arthur watched the boy swim around one of the pools at the Hall of Justice specifically designed for Atlantean guests. He was grateful that horrible circus stopped in Matropolis so they could get Danny into a better place almost immediately. A few days and he was already doing much better with clean water, real Atlantean food that doesn't fall apart in water, plenty of space to swim freely, and a small artificial reef to play, hide, and sleep in. Danny was gaining weight, his skin looked less sick, his scales became more vibrant, and his clumsy swimming was getting better. But that was the thing wasn't it? Little details that confirmed Arthur's worst suspicions: Danny has spent his entire life on land.
Danny never confirmed he was from the lake-folk, he simply never said otherwise and Arthur could see the look on his face at the assumption. So, he sent Kaldur to the Great Lakes ahead of them to ask around. Arthur doesn't expect there to be a missing person matching Danny in the least; he questioned it the moment it was even implied. Bioluminescence is a rare trait, less than a fraction of a percent in the ocean people, and he's personally never heard of it manifesting in a lake-folk. Erie is the smallest and shallowest of the Great Lakes therefore having the smallest population and it would be easy to notice someone missing, bioluminescent or not, there would be public record of it. That bastard Benedict Showenhower lied about where he got Danny, likely to hide that he actually got the adolescent from, uhg, "fish" trafficking.
Danny doesn't talk much about anything before being "caught" by Showenhower. He mentioned that his parents were scientists, but didn't say what kind. What names he gave for his friends and family were all human names. even Arthur recognized they're not lake-folk. Arthur doesn't point any of it out, he wants to wait for the right moment, when Danny's strong enough to talk about a life he's trying so hard to hide.
And when Kaldur came with his report, of course it confirmed their suspicions. He and Arthur sat on the lip of Danny's pool with the boy bobbing in the water, a courtesy so he can hear them. ...Danny knows no underwater language.
"No one has been bioluminescent in the Great Lakes for eight generations." Kaldur simply stated. "And there are no other missing person reports that match Danny's age."
Danny sank slightly in the water, the action of a child caught in a lie.
Arthur spoke softly, "Danny, do you know for certain where you came from?"
"We're not upset or angry at being lied to." Kaldur added, "You won't be in any trouble, we just want to help get you home."
Danny flinched for some reason, he looked like he was bout to dive. Yes, they were faster than him, but this isn't something they could chase him down and make him talk about.
"I can't." Danny's voice was so quiet, they wouldn't have heard it if not for the echo surface water causes.
"Can't?" Arthur prompted and Danny started sobbing.
"I'm not- I was human-" His words were hard to make out, but Arthur got enough of them. "parent's big experiment" "illegal but fun" "stuck like this" "can't go home or they'll kill me".
Arthur knew it would be bad, but he didn't think it was this bad. Many humans have tried to make artificial merfolk for their own selfish desires. It is as illegal as illegal gets, both on land and in water and almost always ended in death. Arthur dropped into the water and pulled Danny into a tight hug and promised no one was ever going to hurt him again.
just gonna put this here…
Why do so many Japanese urban legends seem to involve a dialogue tree that you need to follow very carefully?
It's just the interactive element that seems characteristic. Like I hear a claim that, at some point, "everyone dreams of a village littered with blue corpses, and if they trip and fall then they will die in their sleep and become one of them" and ai just immediately know before I even check that, yes, this urban legend originated in Japan.
"Am I pretty?"
"I don't know, you're wearing a mask."
"How about now?"
"...I'd say you're a definite four--" (*remembers that four is bad luck in East Asia because it sounds like death*) "FIVE! I meant five! Definitely meant five!"
According to Wikipedia, that could actually work according to some versions of the legend
"You're kinda mid, tbh" or "I don't have time for questions" are both valid responses
Maybe chuck some Werther's Originals at her for safe measure

"Is this yours?" he asked. "May I borrow it?"
"You want to be a seal?"
"No, but when I take it off, I'll be a woman, right?"
"My heart, you already are," the selkie said. "That skin is mine, but I can help you find yours."

Trying to escape military service like: "Poison Seller, I require your weakest poisons."
it's actually so amazing she helped save the lives of the honorable men who did not wish to fight, while killing the most vile men, that is so fucking based
Yesterday my little brother told me something very sweet and touching, that when he was a kid and had nightmares about monsters chasing him or whatever he would be able to end the nightmare by finding me in the dream and I would protect him by fighting off the zombies, or carrying him away. This is adorable, and makes me feel like the greatest older sibling in the world, but the hilarious thing is that when I was a kid I had nightmares of needing to save him from zombies and such. so many dreams where he was in trouble and I needed to save him. Like my nightmares began where his ended. Low key I think he mastered the ability to psychically transfer his nightmare to me as a child and I'm kind of annoyed with him.
