Doing nothing to Severus S-Snape this w-week is a perfectly v-valid plan, P-Prongs.

She shrugged. Whether it was just the conversation dampening her mood or her lack of cigarettes in her pockets the snake didn’t mind dropping the conversation there. “Alright. Sorry. I didn’t mean it anyways…” she mumbled the last part mostly because she didn’t know how the boy would react to her sudden change in mood. A moment passed and she took out her wand and casted a spell on the black mark she made on the floor, it vanished and she put her wand back down. “Look, I didn’t mean to be rude to you. I suppose its just a horrid habit I have.” she continued after a beat. “And yeah, most of them are acting out of fear, they just don’t say it. Probably won’t ever.”

"I-i-it's fine." Peter replied, his burst of confidence suddenly vanished. "I have h-habits too, I suppose." Counting. Cleaning. Staring. Peter shook off this thought too, just like had shook off his cravings for a cigarette. Being shy. Not speaking up. Stop it, he told himself fiercely, but his mind kept whirring. Peter felt twitchiness overtake him, the urge to move, to get out... "I-" he began abruptly, "I've got to...go. I think someone's... waiting for me." Peter was vague in his excuse, still distracted by the persistent throbbing in his head. "Sorry?"

We had five compulsory years of Astronomy—Cygnus is the name of the swan constellation, which is basically the only reason I suggested it, because of the swan thing. Anyway, cheer up, mate; what makes you think he wouldn’t blame me, stud?

He wouldn't like it, puns or no. And I flunked Astronomy, remember? I have to take class with the 5th years. And he'd blame me because...because you're a girl and Sirius has old-fashioned morals sometimes.

"Its not because we want to be like this, it's because we were raised like this." She snaps back quickly. Anger raised but not at the boy of course, but at her family. No, she could never live a ‘normal’ life because of her last name. Because of her family. Because of her house. Because of her blood. She begins to speak again, more quietly, more gently. "And our parents were as well. For generations and generations. Blame the Dark Lord not us, most Purebloods just don’t know better. Brainwash is well just, brainwash. And no, I can’t talk to you without calling you dirty because its a habit. A horrible habit other Purebloods and I pick up from our parents, so I am sorry about that."  She pauses not knowing if she should continue, so she doesn’t. She leaves it at that and waits for the other boy to reply.

"I never..." Peter suddenly felt the craving for a cigarette, but shook off the feeling quickly. "I never said...anything about it being their fault. But adults should...they should know better. It wouldn't be as bad if they were just acting out of fear of the Dark Lord... but some of them... actually believe it. I don't really... mind horribly... but you shouldn't take it out on Lily Evans. Or, y'know, anyone else. It's not fair to them." He absent-mindedly reached into his robe's pocket, finally retrieving a single bent cigarette. Peter leaned further against the wall and lit up.
