    ”Yes well it does take everybody’s minds off of whatever crazy thing is going on during that moment. Not to mention the absolute thrill it is to be in the air. Have you ever got someone to teach you? You might be really good at it if you kept working with it.”

“First year, flying class. I nearly killed myself. Failed the class because I have zero coordination. Kind of a shame, but I suppose I’ll survive. And this year all of the teams are good. Really good. Even if I could play, I’m positive I’d be a liability.”

“I keep it to myself. And I didn’t realize we were on first name terms, Fortescue.”

“I didn’t realize I couldn’t call you by your n a m e.”

I could a-always take you to visit The Giant S-Squid, that’s always f-fun. Are you sure you don’t have anyone to go with, Alice?

You promise he won’t try and drown me? 

“I find incessant lovestruck excitement intolerable. There are ways to be happy without being obnoxious about it; most of the school just seems to be incapable of finding them.”

“How do you be happy, Bella?”

I k-kind of do. I don’t want to be alone.

I don’t plan on going. On the night of the dance we could... Study? Or something? Not- Not quite as fun but like... But at least it wouldn’t be as many people.

“I’ll say! I grew up with JP and I’m mates with the Marauders, so believe you me, I can handle the masters, but that was just ridiculous.”

“Embarrassing younger students for no good reason is just... I don’t understand what’s so funny about it.”

“I find that intolerable.”

“What? You find happiness intolerable?”

There’s a d-dance?

Even if Remus, Sirius, and James want you to go, you don’t have to. 

    “Well I know Slytherin’s next match is the Friday before the dance and we’re playing Ravenclaw. For Hufflepuff I think it’s this two days after? I’m not quite sure so your might have to check in with someone else. — You interested in watching?”

“For Hufflepuff, that seems about right. — I love Quidditch. I just can’t play it to save my life, or remember dates for anything. Even Quidditch. But overall I’d call myself a fan. Not massive one, but I do really like- I like going to the games and watching.”

“Because whenever there’s a dance, the other students become even more intolerable than usual.”

“I wouldn’t call them intolerable, just excited. Or happy. Or sometimes love struck.”

“Good, because then you probably won’t do that! Did you see what the prat was doing?”

“Unfortunately yes. As much as I like pranks, some are taken too far.”

    ” —— It’s fine. The only thing is that everyone keeps swooning over it and it gets annoying. But talking about something else, well —- that’s okay.”

“I can understand that. It is certainly the buzz of the castle. For a change in subject, do you know when the next Quidditch match is? —- For either team.”

   When he heard a voice he didn’t even have to look up to know who was calling out to him. The sweet and innocent murmur of a kind hufflepuff, Alice. Quickly looking up at her his frown turned straight into a large smile. “Hey Alice. What you doing? —- Oh yeah it is. I’m just having some trouble finish it.”

The corners of her mouth were tugged lightly upwards when she saw Frank smile.  “I w-was just...” She shrugged what she hoped to be nonchalantly, pointing her finger over to the bookshelf she was previously hiding herself in. “Nothin’ much.” Alice took a few more small paces closer to him, standing just behind the chair across from him. “I’ve finished it, if you want me to help you. But only if you want to.”
