I FOUND THIS IN CLIP STUDIO PAINT BY ACCIDENT BUT OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS PROGRAM SO MUCH WOWOWOWOWOW OKAY

It’s under the Edit menu and is called “Convert brightness to opacity” and I didn’t even know it was an option until I was trying to edit a thing I was working on and hit it accidentally!!!!

Okay, so today I want to talk about anti-aliasing in CSP because it’s kind of a lifesaver? 

But also I have a super hard time remembering how to do it or that it exists so here we go. 

Basically, anti-aliasing helps you color line art without going outside the lines. Here’s a gif of me coloring with my mouse so you can kind of get an idea of what it is we’re talkin’ about here: 

So how do we do that?

 First, select your line-art or sketch layer in the layer panel of CSP. Click on the little lighthouse icon at the top of the panel. When you click off there should be a little lighthouse on the side of your line-art layer! This icon means that is now a reference layer!

Step2:

Go into your brush settings and click Anti-overflow! Click “Do not exceed reference layer” to make it work, tweak the other settings till you’re happy. These are the settings I used in the example below to get a cleaner coloring style

Step 3: 

Add another normal layer below you line art! Make sure it’s selected and color away! Here’s what it looks like with the settings above:

the velocity section!! When I found out what it does I loved it!! (and I use it with almost all my pens but it isn’t something extraordinary =v=)

So you might be saying: Lion why a guide on drawing black people? Well young blood it’s because a lot of people cant…seem…to draw…black people..Amazing I know. 

Racist (caricatures) portrayals of black people have been around forever, and to this day people can’t seem to draw black people like they are human. If your artwork resembles any of the above even remotely your artwork is racist and offensive. If you try to excuse that as a stylistic choice you’re not only a terrible artist, but racist too!!! Congrats.

Whitewashing is also a problem. A lot of people refuse to draw black features on canonly black characters. While this example isn’t colored, lightening the skin-tone of a character is also considered whitewashing. So lets start with features!

Now all black people have different noses thats a no-brainer, but black noses tend to have flatter bridges, and wider nostrils. Please stay from triangular anime noses and small button noses. Your drawings should not depict black people with abnormally large noses. (Especially if you do not draw other characters this way)

If you feel like the way you draw lips on black characters is offensive or resembles a caricature,it probably does and you should change it. ABSOLUTELY AVOID PLACING LIPS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FACE. 

Hair is so diverse! Please get used to drawing braids, locs,kinks and coils! If you can learn to draw ringlets and long waves you can learn how to draw black hairstyles.

Add clips! Learn how to draw baby-hairs and never be afraid to add color Pinterest and Google are free my dudes! Also try using square brushes for blocking in coils.

A random leaf drawing tutorial I decided to make~

To get the most depth and believability when drawing plants/leaves, make sure there is overlap with the leaves, curled and floppy bends, and imperfections like knicks and holes (from insects). There are perfect looking leaves in nature, yes, but those are boring! Also make sure that leaves grow out from all directions on branches - this goes for branches on tree trunks as well. The most common error is drawing all the branches shooting off from either side - don’t do that!! No tree in nature will ever look like that. Also, this may be for a generic leaf, but the same rules apply to most/all other leaves.

to make my pixel art larger without quality loss, in photoshop i increase the size by even 100%s (usually 300%) and select “Nearest Neighbour” for image resampling!

Again this is my personal take on color! It really depends on the situation and what you personally value, and in the end practice is your best friend.
