You know how mad Iâd be if this happened to me in real life?

I love Zuri already! canât wait!!!
This gotta bring awareness to things that really matter. Representation DOES matter! The only people think it doesnât, are people that are represented plenty. There gotta be a lot of Black People in cartoons for kids, and it doesnât take much critical thinking to see why. We need Black Educated Successful Pride role models here.Â

Guys this is Really Really ImportantâŚ.
Keep your Stick in your PantsâŚ.
Not all that Glitters is GoldâŚ.
They exist in Haiti. Thats how my great great great grandfather died.
Wait hold on someone explain this to me Iâm so lost lol
The belief is Haiti is that certain women can live under water and will lived there for years⌠These women are extremely beautiful and men being men canât stay away from a good looking women are seduce and then dragged under water and are never to be seen again⌠My great grandmother was one of these women⌠One day her mother sent her to go get water from the river and she never came back 10 years later they see her come up the road in all white with beautiful jewelry all around her body sing up a storm.. When her family asked her where she was she told them she was under water⌠thats the story my grandma always use to tell me growing up

Sounds like daughters of Yoruba goddess
I love African and African Diasporan mythology.
we call them âriver mummaâ in Jamaica
I NEED MORE MYTHOLOGY INVOLVING BLACK CULTURES IN THE DIASPORA.
We call the âmammi waterâ in Nigeria
Iâm quite intrigued & in love with this
The gag is that Iâm at the heaviest weight Iâve ever been because of stress and my ED but my blood pressure is the best itâs ever been, my heart is fantastic, and other than the bad ear infection and the accident I had in April, my doctor is completely unconcerned about my overall health. Iâm young and strong and comfy.
But Iâm sure the fatphobes on here donât care about that.
I bumped into an old love yesterday. Extremely random. We didnât end on bad terms, we just grew apart. We werenât even intimate, we were way too young at the time lol. We walked passed each other and I knew that face looked familiar, by the time I turned around he was already walking back towards me, laughing with his arms wide open. Heâs changed soooooo much. I was blown away. Iâm so proud of him. Even the way he stands is different. Heâs a man now. He couldnât get over how much I changed either.. ahh lmao we were so geeky when we were younger wdf man.
He said something that stuck with me, during that time, we didnât realise how much our connection would impact our lives. He told me that I inspired him and he reminded me of a few conversations we used to have and how weâve both stuck to goals up to today etc. He used to have the craziest ideas, he inspired me to always think outside of the box and to not fear my truth or ideas. He gave me confidence man.
Itâs crazy to think, how lead by influence we truly are. It had me thinking, how much of my thoughts are uniquely mine?? or which ones originally stemmed from past encounters??
Anyway, Iâm not allowing him to slip through my fingers, heâs a great person. Definitely gonna keep in touch. I love shit like that.
Jay-Z went from âfaggots wanna talk to Popo?â to this. We love GROWTH and ACCEPTANCE.

How to have a conversation about a topic youâre not interested in or donât know anything about:
Listen to what the other person has to say about the topic.
Ask a question about what they said. Asking them to clarify or explain something you donât understand is great, but any question will do. All else fails, ask them to explain what they like about some part of the topic.
Listen to their responses and go back to step 2.
Do this until 5-15 minutes has passed, then change the subject to a topic of your interest, unless you are actually interested in learning more on this subject, in which case, go on for as long as you like.
Sometimes, they will say something like âIâm sorry to blather on about [topic].â This is an attempt at a conversational dismount. You can either say âno, it was fascinating, thanksâ and then bring up your own topic, or you can say âno, itâs fascinating, please keep goingâ if you want to keep hearing about their topic. Note the tense difference (past -> moving on, present -> keep going).
I just thought Iâd write a script for this, because someone who canât / wonât do this came up in a Captain Awkward column, and listening about topics you have no interest in is a really useful skill to have and not often explicitly taught, particularly to boys and men.

stop telling mentally ill people that no one is gonna love them if they donât love themselves thatâs actually really fucked up and you need to reconsider why you think someone whoâs been brutalized into hating themselves doesnât deserve love
Okay so Iâm gonna insert some commentary here. When I first heard that it was from a tennis coach, weirdly enough. My self-hatred showed in everything I did no matter how much I tried to hide it, so my tennis coach picked up on it. At the time I had no idea what he meant. But over the years Iâve learned that when someone tells you âIf you donât love yourself nobody else willâ theyâre warning you about society. A lot of people see that their friend/family member/partner hates themself and over time they distance themselves bc they feel the friend is âtoo negativeâ and they canât handle it. This sounds like nonsense to empathetic people. I mean growing up every single one of my friends that had any serious problem came to me bc they knew I could be a support system to them.. Iâm finding that there are not a lot of people who can do that. Just the other day this girl told a group of us âcan you imagine me having to listen to other peopleâs problems?â. And the whole group agreed (except me obviously).. And thatâs what we are dealing with like IF YOU ARE LUCKY you can find wonderful support systems, people who love you and help you get through every day.. But a lot of us wonât be that lucky. So I think when someone says âif you donât love yourself nobody else willâ they are trying to warn you about whatâs to come if you are unable to love yourself. Theyâre not saying you donât deserve love.. theyâre saying ppl might find it hard to love you⌠which is like a sad reality of being mentally ill So anyway Iâm hoping that we are all lucky enough to find the right ppl who wonât feel that liking us or being in any relationship with us is a hard task
donât date someone who looks at a kid crying and rolls their eyes. more than likely theyâll do the same when youâre crying.
donât spend time with anyone who thinks children shouldnât be in public. kids live in the same world we do, they have a right to go see (age appropriate) movies the same as any adult.
donât be that asshole who insists children are terrible when youâre terrible to them, too. kids have a right to not like people who treat them poorly. they donât have to be polite to you because youâre an adult.
donât be the dick who thinks of children as a hive mind or as having the same personality. kids are people⌠theyâre just as varied in their personalities and opinions as any adult.
if you donât want to be a parent, thatâs fine. parenting is the heaviest responsibility in our society yet itâs treated as a societal expectation. but just because youâre certain you donât want to raise kids, doesnât mean you get to treat every child, who are people deserving of respect, like theyâre less than human in any shape or form.
children are people and they deserve respect. my god, i canât believe that i have to say it, but some of y'all apparently donât know.
