Summary
Kara took Jimmy's advice but she can't say it was going so well. It's been a few months since she's been trying to see what's out there as he suggested and so far no one has caught her eye. Which brought her to a club, which brought her to a bar, which brought her to a table across the dance floor, staring into the green eyes of a woman who bought her a drink. Her name? Lena Luthor. Which she felt was important for some reason but no time to think because Lena was talking her and smiling at her!

Weekly dose of Supercorp - Week 20
(AI-generated kisses)
Inspired by my own fanfiction:
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
finding our way (pt 2)
Supercorp Word count: 2664
Kara lets out a low whistle as she crosses the threshold of Lena’s apartment. “This place is…wow.” Her eyes sweep across the space before settling on the floor to ceiling windows. “It’s like five times the size of my studio.”
Kara admires the city. Lena admires her. It’s strange having her here. Having her in Boston. In her head, Kara lives against a permanent backdrop of National City. Maybe Lena’s imaging it, but the sunlight hits her differently here, like someone adjusted the saturation on a photo. It’s still her Kara, but also different.
Lena’s not entirely sure why Kara’s here. All she said was that she was going to be in town and wanted to see her. Lena was not inclined to pry that particular crate open in fear of what she’d find inside. Instead, she graciously offered Kara her spare bedroom and didn’t ask questions about what Kara was doing in Boston prior to her appearing at Lena’s doorstep.
“I get why you don’t want to leave,” Kara muses but all Lena can think of is how the view at her windows never looked better than this exact moment with Kara obstructing it.
“Come on,” Lena says, deciding she can’t stomach the sight anymore. “I’ll show you your room.”
The room is just down the hall from Lena’s, which feels far too close and not close enough. It’s really hitting her now just what she’s agreed to. That Kara’s going to be in her space for the weekend and that’s not something she’s experienced in a long time. Suddenly her apartment doesn’t seem as large as Kara’s made it out to be. Lena stands in the doorway, watches Kara drop her duffle bag on the bed. A bed that Lena meticulously made up, positioning the pillows just so, and washing the sheets that morning so they’d smell fresh when Kara tucks into them later that night.
“So what’s the plan?” Kara asks, eyes sparkling. As if they’ve ever had a plan. As if they haven’t been freefalling through life for all the years they’ve known each other. It’s getting to the point where the ground is coming up quick and Lena can’t find the parachute cord.
Lena leans a shoulder against the door frame, arms folded over her chest. “Depends what you’re in the mood for.”
“You know me.” Kara wags her eyebrows. “I’m up for anything.”
Anything. The word sinks in Lena’s stomach like a hot piece of lead. Lena shakes it off. Clears her throat. “There’s a really good Ramen place around the corner. We might have to wait a bit for a table but it’s worth it.”
Kara smiles that smile that’s always felt like it was just for her. “Let’s do it.”
***
“I’m seeing someone,” Kara blurts out as Lena’s blowing on a clump of noodles.
Lena freezes, chopsticks suspended over her bowl. “Oh.”
Kara nibbles on her bottom lip. “Yeah, Alex and Kelly set me up with someone from Alex’s work.”
Lena stares down at her bowl, mourning her appetite that’s vanished. “That’s—that’s nice.” She pokes at the noodles with her chopsticks. “A doctor?”
“RN.” Kara slurps down a mouthful of noodles. It almost feels like a betrayal that the admission doesn’t make Kara queasy. “Her name's Nicole.”
Lena feels something climbing up her throat. Acid reflux. A scream. It’s not like they both haven’t had relationships before. But they’ve never sat down and conversed about it over a shared meal. There’s always been the buffer of time and distance between them for that. The most Lena’s had to confront over the years is the occasional picture on social media. But Kara, for some incredulous reason, has chosen this exact moment to break years of precedent. “And you’re…are you happy?”
Kara’s brow furrows like it’s a question that requires careful consideration. Lena doesn’t know how to feel about that. Her stomach tightens.
“Yeah,” Kara answers hesitantly, “I mean it’s early on, but, yeah.”
Lena forces herself to take another bite, if only to have an excuse not to respond. She chews slowly. Swallows down her pride. Forces a smile. “Then I’m happy for you.”
Is it still a lie if she wants to mean it?
***
They go to brunch with Jack and Sam, which in hindsight was a terrible idea. One, because it’s one of those places that does bottomless mimosas. Two, because it’s Jack and Sam. And they’re adamant on flipping through the rolodex of Lena’s most embarrassing memories from their gradschool days.
“Do you remember the time you got so pissed at the bar and took your shirt off?” Jack is telling stories in a way that Lena finds endearing when it’s not at her expense. With charisma and exaggerated flourish and a champagne glass in hand.
“Shirt and bra,” Sam adds, unhelpfully.
Jack laughs. “And what’d she say when you tried to get her to put it back on?”
“If men don’t have to wear shirts, then I don’t have to wear shirts!” Sam exclaims, in a decidedly terrible impression of drunk Lena.
“A feminist icon,” Jack drawls, raising his glass to Lena. “Really breaking down barriers for women everywhere.”
Kara is delighted by the story, hanging on to every word. “What’d you end up doing?”
“I snagged a fleece vest off of a finance bro and wrestled her into it because it was snowing outside and we still had to walk home,” Sam explains.
“Hoes don’t get cold,” Jack mutters into his glass.
“Right,” Lena finally interjects, cheeks flushed. “As much as I’m loving this trip down memory lane, I’d like to remind you that I have blackmail worthy stories on both of you.”
***
“I like them,” Kara says on the walk back home. Both of them are a little tipsy and their shoulders keep bumping since neither of them can keep in a straight line. “I like that you have people who care about you here.”
Lena likes it too. Sam and Jack were the only thing that got her through that first year of grad school. They filled in the empty spaces of her life so perfectly. But it’s also difficult. Having people in two places that you love is like a never ending game of tug-a-war on your heart.
***
Back in Lena’s condo, it’s just them and the daunting stretch of an empty afternoon. If Lena were sober, or smart, she would’ve suggested they go literally anywhere else. Somewhere where the rest of the world couldn’t fall away like it always did with them. Alone in her space with Kara—who has a girlfriend, she keeps reminding herself—feels like Lena’s very own gauntlet of fire. Because Lena is a little drunk. They both are. It’s hard to moderate when the waitress keeps topping off your glass before you’ve had a chance to finish it. Impossible to know their actual levels of consumption. It’s enough for Lena’s skin to be humming. Her head caught in a pleasantly floaty space. Limbs loose and deliciously heavy. Then there’s Kara beside her, drawing her into her orbit like the sun. Nothing but blinding heat.
“I’ll make us some tea,” Lena blurts. It’s a good excuse to disappear for a bit. To put some space between them. She goes through the motions, filling the kettle, pulling two mugs from the cabinet, loads two infusers with some loose leaf jasmine, and squeezes a generous dollop of honey into Kara’s mug because she knows she likes it sweet.
Back in the living room, Kara’s settled deep into the sofa, lazily scrolling through whatever streaming service she’s stumbled her way into. Lena places the steaming mugs on the coffee table. Internally she’s smacking herself on the forehead for prepping a hot drink that she has to wait to cool before she can busy her mouth with it. A foolish oversight on her part. Now she has to sit here in a thick blanket of silence that itches against her skin.
“Watch anything good recently?” Kara asks.
Lena rolls her head to the side. Kara’s still scrolling, eyelids so heavy that her long lashes nearly kiss her cheeks. Her lips are full, a little dry from the cold weather. Kara must feel her gaze, because she turns and she’s closer than Lena initially registered. A severe miscalculation. Her depth perception impaired by her intoxication. At least that’s what she tells herself. Their eyes catch, two magnets finding each other. Lena’s swimming in a sea of blue, or maybe the room is just starting to spin. She feels flushed all over. When Kara licks her lips, Lena’s eyes trace the motion. There are two halves to Lena’s brain—the rational half and the caveman half— and they’re having an all out cage fight. Unfortunately for the former, it’s getting absolutely pommeled to a pulp, and Lena is a biased referee. Lena doesn’t stop. Just keeps leaning into Kara’s space and over that line they drew in the sand without every really talking about it and—
Kara’s phone rings. It makes them both jump. Kara cycles through phases of confusion, clarity, then hesitation as she stares down at the caller ID. For a moment Lena thinks she’s going to send it to voicemail. That, maybe, just this once when they reach that fork in the road, they’ll go left instead of right. Then at the last minute she answers.
“Hey, Nicole.”
Lena’s brain takes an emotional cold plunge and resurfaces painfully alert and sober.
“Yeah, I just got back to my room. Yeah, of course I’ve got time.” Kara throws Lena an apologetic look and then stands, if a little unsteady, to scurry off to the guest bedroom. “How was your shift?”
Lena tries to keep herself busy but there’s only so much to distract herself with. She tidies up around the apartment, starts a load of laundry, lights a candle to mask the smell of her shame and desperation. When she runs out of practical things to do she drifts back into the living room, eyes immediately zeroing in on the two full mugs of tea gone cold. Something thick tries to claw its way free from her throat as she pours them into the sink, watching the liquid slowly disappear down the drain.
When Kara finally emerges two hours later, she’s changed into a pair of sweats and a loose t-shirt. She looks soft and sleepy. Her hair is a little mussed and there are pink lines pressed into her cheeks. Must’ve taken a power nap after wrapping up her phone call. She smiles at Lena, slow and sheepish. “Figured we’d stay in tonight.”
Lena swallows thickly. “Sure. I can make us something?”
Kara smiles. “Only if I can help.”
“Says the woman who can barely boil a pot of water,” Lena teases.
“Hey! That was college, okay? A lot has changed since then.” Kara means it lightheartedly, but it claps like thunder between Lena’s ears.
They work side by side. Lena does the actual cooking while delegating simpler tasks like detailing the shrimp and chopping the mushrooms to Kara. She stirs the orzo, happy to keep her hands busy and letting the heat of the stove distract her from the what ifs rolling around in her brain like loose marbles.
They have dinner at the dining table, which Lena can count on one hand how many times she’s used since moving in. She normally takes her dinner on the sofa but it seemed like a responsible choice to have a table between them. That is until they’re seated at said table with their nicely plated meal, color draining from the sky casting a soft glow in the apartment, and the candle she lit earlier flickering beside them. Lena can’t help but think the universe has pulled a fast one on her.
Kara moans loudly when her lips wrapped around her first bite. “This is the best thing I’ve ever eaten.”
Lena allows herself to be flattered by the complement. Even if she only half believes it, not because she questions Kara’s sincerity, but because the woman eats so much food she doubts she remembers half of it. “Thank you,” Lena mumbles anyway.
They both leave their glass of wine untouched still coming down from day drinking, or maybe for some other quieter reason neither of them will say. “Your flight’s at ten AM?”
Kara nods, swallowing down another bite.
“The flight back is always longer,” Lena says for the sake of saying something. “Tell Alex hi for me when she picks you up?”
Kara wipes at her mouth with the side of her hand. “Oh, Nicole is actually picking me up.”
Ah, right. Nicole. The thorn on the rose Lena keeps pricking her finger on. But that’s not really fair is it? Lena’s not sure what’s fair between them. Lena would have to know what game they’ve been playing at all this time in order to know what the rules are.
“But we’re having dinner with Alex and Kelly tomorrow night, so I’ll pass the message along.”
Lena wonders if Kara knows her words are a knife the way she says it so carefully like it makes a difference how gently they slip through Lena’s ribs before piercing her heart.
***
After dinner they wind up on the dreaded couch again, both seemingly reluctant to be trapped by it once more. Lena puts on some sitcom that she knows they won’t pay attention to and, after they politely endure one or two episodes, they can part ways into their separate bedrooms.
“This was fun,” Kara comments offhandedly.
Lena wants to laugh. Disney World is fun, a trip to Cape Cod is fun, but this—this weekend with Kara—has felt like an act of cruelty. Lena can’t remember why she agreed to it before. Why she thought she’d come out of it unscathed. Why she’s put her hands on a burning hot stove and now has the nerve to be shocked when they come away burned.
“It was.”
“It was good seeing you here. Seeing your life here.” Kara drifts for a moment, eyes going somewhere far away. Lena wonders what Kara’s seeing. If she’s trying to fit herself into the shape Lena’s life has twisted into. What it would look like if she were a main character in it and not a one-off guest appearance. Lena’s imagined it more than she’d care to admit. Kara blinks. Her gaze focuses on Lena again. “I’m turning in for the night. I’ve got a bit of a headache and I still need to finish packing.”
“Of course.” Lena can’t deny that she feels a little relieved they’re time is coming to a close.
***
Later in her bedroom she hears Kara puttering around in the guest bedroom. The door opens. The hall light flickers on. The pitter patter of barefeet down the hall. The sink in the bathroom starts running, an electric toothbrush hums. Then it’s deadly quiet again. Those footsteps carefully make their way back down the hall as if not to be heard. But instead of stopping where they should, they get closer, until they’re slicing shadows through the light spilling under Lena’s door. Her heart thunders in her chest. Her hands fist against her comforter. The silence becomes a blaring siren. The walls vibrating. Lena has a ridiculous urge to hide underneath her bed. But then the footsteps get further away again. The hall light flicks off. The guest bedroom door closes with a sense of finality. Lena’s not sure how long she stares up at her ceiling before falling asleep.
***
When Lena wakes in the morning, Kara’s already gone. She leaves a handwritten note on the coffee table explaining that she wanted to get to the airport early and didn’t want to disturb Lena. Lena looks around her empty apartment, which suddenly feels haunted, with the spirits of almost wandering up and down the hall. That night, when Lena lies down in her bed, she swears she hears footsteps outside her door.

A Super Assistant - Chapter 9
Part 1, Prev, Ao3
“I didn’t realize all of this was public,” Lena says, making eye-contact with Winn over her laptop. He whistles innocently and busies himself with his own computer. Kara had brought him up that morning, after Lena had suggested pooling their information about Roulette. She hadn’t realized that would involve inviting a fidgety little man to take up residence on her white couch.
Kara laughs anxiously, “Winn’s very good at digging stuff up. You know, nothing’s ever really disappeared online when he’s around.”
Lena raises an eyebrow.
AU - Lena Luthor Saves Krypton
Lena is somehow sent back in time and finds herself on Krypton 30 years before the planet explodes. Kara doesn’t exist yet. Krypton has no idea what’s about to happen to them.
Lena realizes that with her knowledge of what’s to come and intellect to devise a solution, she can do two things. One, she can save an entire species from near extinction. Two, she can save Kara from ever having to experience the pain of losing her family, her home, and being abandoned. Kara could live a happy life and never know the burden of Supergirl or being the last daughter of Krypton.
So instead of trying to find a way back to Earth, back to her own time, she settles into life on Krypton, becomes fluent in Kryptonese, and sets about with a spectacularly single-minded focus of changing the future - to save this dying world (and Kara).
She succeeds…mostly. They can’t fix the damage that’s already been done to the planet. Their sun will die and destroy Krypton still, but with Lena’s help they’re able to locate a barren planet in another system that has a white star. It’s brand new, strong, and will live for untold trillions of years (provided Kryptonians didn’t try to harness its power again).
They terraform the planet and create “New Krypton” using the dome concept that Zor-El invented fused with Coluan bottling technology. All Kryptonians are instantly transported to their new home that’s identical to the old one save for one difference - the white sun grants them god-like powers that are beyond what Lena ever saw Kara and Clark capable of on Earth. Kryptonians are overwhelmed en masse by these powers. Some go power mad and attempt coups and form radical sects. Others realize the gift they’ve been given and, with Lena’s guidance, Kryptonian society develops under a new mission - to travel the galaxy and offer help to all those in need. Not just offering knowledge and technology this time, but themselves with their newfound powers.

Lena could feel her pulse in her throat. The truth was staring her in the face, sitting across Catco’s expansive office floor behind panes of glass in her office. It was so obvious yet it took this to make her realize.
When she’d first noticed that her best friend had become distant and standoffish, she let it go. She had to
(because any Kara was better then no Kara)
because Lena Luthor didn’t do half measures. She didn’t, couldn’t afford to, have a wide circle of shallow friendships. When she let someone in, she let them all the way in, and Kara Danvers had practically stormed the castle with her lunches and brunches and the way Lena would catch her looking at her.
She’s forced herself to ignore that, especially when Kara turned up dating “Mike”.
You want to talk drama? Lena Luthor has drama. She was in love with her best friend, a straight girl who fell head over heels for the living embodiment of “I can be a better ‘boyfriend’ than him” who also cheated on her with Supergirl, and spearheaded an alien invasion.
That’s leaving out the part where he abducted Lena to breed her and apparently let his mom watch.
(It turns like out that being abducted for breeding with an alien fuckboi isn’t as fun as those books make it out to be)
So yeah… Kara needed space.
Then something odd happened.
Kara began doing her job. She was in her office most days. The bizarre excuses stopped. The mysterious absences tapered off. She was becoming a dedicated and seriously employee. She was no longer taking advantage of Lena’s frankly rather obvious crush.
Something odd happened at the same time. Supergirl wasn’t as visible anymore. Her cousin was randomly showing up in her town and when she was out and about, he was always with her. Lena took interest and noticed something. Supergirl wasn’t fighting as hard. She was almost hiding behind Superman sometimes, and that was the most odd thing.
Then she came to Lena’s balcony one night and Lena saw through it immediately.
It wasn’t her. It was the Martian, pretending.
Oh, “she” had the looks. The lean muscles and big veiny hands, the soft, almost innocent sky blue eyes and tumbling locks of unbound honey blonde hair and broad shoulders, the ripped abs and rock hard butt under that skirt and a throat begging for soft kisses and little nips and nibbles, and… it looked like her but she was all wrong. The bravado and sadness were gone, and “Supergirl” didn’t look at Lena the way she always did. Her eyes didn’t sweep Lena’s body and noticeably linger on her chest for a moment before a subtle blush turned her cheeks pink.
Lena wasn’t even wearing a bra and Supergirl didn’t notice!
Finally Lena put two and two together when Kara showed up at work, glum as ever and wearing a baggy blouse. It didn’t matter.
She couldn’t hide the bump.
Two things happened at once; Lena thought “oh God she has no one to take care of her” and “oh God Supergirl disappeared because Kara is Supergirl and Kara is pregnant.
Before she knew what she was doing she was half running to Kara’s office. Once she was inside she closed the door and flipped the switch that turned the glass walls opaque for privacy, which Kara never used.
Lena pulled over a side chair and sat down. Kara stared at her with alarm, wringing her hands. Lena gently took them in hers. Unprompted, Kara began to cry silently. Lena waited. She looked small and waifish, and somehow unkempt. Her hair needed a wash, she wore no makeup, and even her outfit seemed careless.
“It’s his, isn’t it?”
Kara nodded.
Lena licked her lips.
“Has it made you lose your powers?”
Kara looked up sharply. Lena squeezed her hands hard.
“It’s okay. I’m not angry with you.”
“I feel so stupid,” Kara choked out. “He lied to me and tricked me. I wouldn’t have let this happen if I’d known he and his mother wanted both of us to be his… his brood mares. I feel like such an idiot.”
Lena looked around, found a box of Kleenex, and wiped the tears gently away. Kara leaned into her.
“You’re really not mad at me?”
Lena shook her head. “Of course not, Darling. We all have our secrets.” She licked her dry lips.
Secrets like silently longing for your best friend, yearning for her touch, daydreaming silly domestic scenarios and exhausting herself at night on fantasies about Kara coming undone beneath her…
“How can I help you, Kara? What can I do?”
Kara nuzzled into Lena’s neck.
“You don’t have to do anything. Just don’t leave.”
“I would never.”
Kara breathed a sigh of relief.
It hit Lena all at once. The memory came back to her. A movie night, she’d been invited by Kara to join her sister and friends. Someone picked the first Star Wars movie and she saw Kara tense. When the Death Star was about to blow up the planet Alderaan, Kara suddenly had to use the bathroom and looked shaken behind a false smile when she came back.
“Mike” had been too busy checking out Alex and staring at Lena’s tits to notice.
When the gathering broke up and he smacked Kara on the was a surge of jealousy and possessive rage made her wish for a Lexosuit.
She couldn’t help but hold Kara tighter. She’d been through so much, lost so much.
“I want to take care of you.”
Lena knew what she was doing to herself. She would wreck herself on the rocky shores of Kara’s heterosexuality and she’d do it gladly.
She told herself that.
Lena Luthor had a pattern recognition problem, believe it or not.
It would take her a while to realize why Supergirl looked at her like that…

There is a mention of suicidal thoughts, but nothing in detail.
I'd like to place an order for Supercorp please.
Just a little something to wrap up femslash february😉
Kara plays the part well.
She smiles at the right moments, lets herself be pulled into tight embraces, laughs in the way she’s supposed to. She tells Alex she’s fine, tells J’onn she’s okay, tells Nia she’s happy to be home.
And they believe her.
They want–need–to believe her.
Lena is the only one who doesn’t.
She sees the way Kara’s fingers twitch at her sides when she thinks no one is looking. The way her eyes keep darting to the shadows, searching, flickering, doubtful. The way she smiles but it never reaches her eyes.
She sees it all.
And it terrifies her.
So she stays quiet. Watches. Waits.
And when Alex finally pulls Kara away, murmuring something about rest, about taking it easy, Lena lets her go.
Because she knows.
Knows that Kara is going to break.
And when she does—
Lena will be there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s late when she goes to Kara’s apartment.
She hesitates for only a second before she knocks.
For a long moment, nothing.
Then—soft footsteps, a slow turning of the knob.
And then Kara is standing there.
Her hair is damp, curling slightly at the ends, like she’s just showered. She’s in sweatpants and a hoodie—one that looks too big, swallowing her whole.
Lena’s chest aches.
Kara’s face is blank. Her eyes unreadable.
“You shouldn’t be here,” she says, but there’s no weight to it.
Lena ignores it. “Can I come in?”
A pause.
Then, finally—Kara steps back.
Lena steps inside.
The apartment is dark, save for the moonlight spilling through the windows.
Everything is where Kara left it. A sweater draped over the couch. A book left open on the coffee table. A mug resting beside the sink.
It looks the same.
But it feels wrong.
Empty.
Like a place abandoned.
Kara stands in the middle of it, arms wrapped around herself, as if bracing for something unseen.
Lena watches her for a long moment.
Then, softly— “Kara.”
Kara’s breath hitches.
She shakes her head. “Don’t.”
“Kara—”
“Don’t.”
Lena stills.
And then—Kara laughs.
But it’s hollow, sharp, wrong.
“You know what’s funny?” she says, voice thick. “I thought coming back would feel good.”
Lena doesn’t move.
“I thought—” Kara lets out a breath, shaky, uneven. “I thought I’d open my eyes and I’d just be me again.” A pause. “But I don’t—I don’t feel like me.”
Lena steps closer. “You are you.”
Kara shakes her head, fast, desperate. “I don’t—I don’t know how to be. I feel like—” She swallows, voice breaking. “Like I left parts of myself back there.”
Lena’s throat tightens.
Kara lets out a short, sharp breath, pressing her hands against her temples, frustrated. “I don’t—I don’t even know if this is real.” Her voice cracks on the last word.
Lena’s heart shatters.
She closes the space between them, hands reaching out—but Kara flinches.
Lena stops instantly.
Kara looks at her with something frantic in her eyes. Something terrified.
“What if this isn’t real?” she chokes. “What if this is just—just another trick? What if I wake up and I’m still there?”
Lena’s vision blurs.
She needs Kara to know.
So she reaches again—slowly this time—hands ghosting over Kara’s arms, waiting, waiting.
“Kara—”
Kara sways toward her.
And then she falls.
Into Lena’s arms. Into warmth. Into something solid, real, safe.
A broken, gasping sob tears from Kara’s throat, her fingers curling tight into Lena’s sweater, clinging.
And Lena—Lena holds her.
One hand in golden hair, the other rubbing slow, steady circles on her back. “I’ve got you, darling. I’ve got you.”
Kara shakes.
Her breath is sharp, uneven, frantic.
Lena presses a kiss to her temple, then another, whispering, You’re here. You’re safe. This is real. I am real.
Slowly—so, so slowly—Kara’s breathing evens out.
Not steady. Not even.
But better.
And then, after a long moment—
“Stay?”
The word is small.
So small Lena almost doesn’t hear it.
But when she looks down, Kara’s blue, blue eyes are pleading.
“Of course,” Lena breathes.
Kara swallows. “Will you—” A pause. A breath. “Will you hold me?”
Lena softens.
“Oh, darling.”
She presses another kiss to Kara’s temple, so, so gentle.
“Of course I will.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They lie together in Kara’s bed, tangled close.
Kara is pressed against Lena, her face tucked into the curve of Lena’s neck, their legs entwined, bodies blurred together until neither of them is sure where one begins and the other ends.
Lena runs her fingers through golden hair, slow and steady, grounding them both.
It’s quiet.
Kara’s breath is warm against her collarbone.
For the first time in months, she feels warm.
Safe.
Real.
And then—
Kara shifts.
Sits up slightly, leaning on one elbow, looking at Lena.
Moonlight catches in her eyes, turning them into deep, endless pools of sapphire, glistening with unshed tears. Tiny reflections scattering across her lashes, fragile and shimmering—like distant stars trembling on the verge of falling, like the universe itself is holding its sorrow within her gaze.
Lena reaches up, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “What is it, darling?”
Kara hesitates.
Then, barely above a whisper—
“I thought I’d never see you again.”
Lena’s heart aches.
She reaches for Kara’s hand, intertwining their fingers, squeezing gently. “But you did.”
Kara’s breath hitches.
She swallows hard, gaze flickering over Lena’s face, searching, memorizing.
Like she’s afraid this moment will slip away.
Lena brings their joined hands up, presses a kiss to Kara’s knuckles.
Kara swallows again. Then—soft, hesitant—
“I thought I’d never get the chance to—”
She stops.
Bites her lip, breath uneven, scared.
Lena’s thumb strokes gently over her hand. “The chance to what?”
Kara’s eyes shimmer.
She exhales sharply, blinking fast, lips trembling—
And then, in a voice so small, so fragile—
“To tell you I love you.”
Lena’s breath catches.
Kara looks like she might break apart, eyes darting down like she regrets saying it.
But Lena won’t let her.
She reaches up, cradling Kara’s face, guiding her gaze back.
A soft, trembling smile.
“I love you too.”
Kara shudders.
A tear slips down her cheek.
Lena catches it with her thumb, brushing it away as gently as possible.
And then Kara is leaning in.
Slow, hesitant, searching—
And Lena meets her halfway.
The kiss is soft at first. Just a press of lips, just a breath shared, just confirmation.
But then Kara makes a small, aching sound—a sound like relief, like hope, like something that has been waiting to be felt again—
And Lena deepens it.
Kara’s hands find her, fingertips brushing over Lena’s jaw, holding her close.
Lena sighs into her mouth, fingers threading into golden hair, pulling her in.
And Kara—
Kara lets herself feel it.
Lets herself fall into warmth.
Into love.
Into something real.
And when they finally break apart, Kara presses her forehead against Lena’s, breath still uneven, fingers still curled tight into her sweater.
And Lena just holds her.
Lets herself be held.
Lets herself fall.
Kara exhales, slow and shaky.
And then Lena is pulling her down, arms wrapping tight around her, whispering it again and again—
“I love you, baby. I love you so so much.”
And as Kara buries herself into Lena’s warmth, breath hitching, fingers gripping tight—
She finally, finally believes that this is real.

In Lena's office
Kara:(angry) I don't like her ok. I don't care how successful or pretty she is, you shouldn't be going out with her.
Lena:(confused) what is this about?
Kara:(tears forming in her eyes) it's about your choices. They are not good ones.
Lena:(expressions hardening) what do you know about my choices? I am not going on a date with Ava. She's just a good friend and I don't believe it would have been an issue if I was going.
Kara:(shouting) of course it would have been an issue, you are married to me. I am your wife, no one can come close to you except me. (Realising what she said while Lena is stunned)
Lena: Wh.. what, what do you mean?
Kara:(trying to leave) I..I need to g..go.
Lena:(stopping her immediately by holding Kara's wrist)what do you mean married?
Kara not looking at her while Lena squeezes her wrist and pulls her closer
Lena: I asked you something, KARA.
Kara: the bracelet you gave me on my birthday, put on my wrist. That means marriage as a Kryptonian, Lena. We don't use rings. I know you didn't knew but .....
Lena:(pulling away)I forced that on you
Kara:(cupping her cheeks)Zhao, not your fault. I should have stopped you but my biggest wish was becoming reality Infront of me, so I didn't. Now I am trapping you.
Lena: wish? Kara, do you love......me?
Kara:(smiling sadly)more than anything.
Lena:(pulling Kara into her arms)we have been married?(Kara nodding in her neck), for a month?(Kara nods)and you don't have any issue with it?(Kara shaking her head) You are my wife, mine?(Kara nods)
Lena: Alex is right, we are dumb.(Pulling away to kiss Kara)
Lena:(breaking the kiss, making Kara whimper) Fuck you are mine.(Kara blushes)
Kara:(hiding in Lena's neck to whisper) there are other things too, I need to give you a bracelet as well and then.....
Lena:(pulling the back of Kara's head by her hair to make her look) Then what love?
Kara:(surpressing a moan at her actions) con.... Consummate this marriage.
Lena:(pulling her into another kiss by her waist) give me my bracelet and leave the consummation to me. I NEED to make you mine, we will also have another ceremony for everyone. Is this ok baby? (Kara nods against her lips and smiles shyly)

Even before Lena opens her eyes, her mind registers just how warm she is. Lena blinks her eyes open, adjusting to the dim light of the room.
She knows she shouldn’t let herself get used to this, but who is she kidding, she spends more nights at Kara’s than she does her own now.
There’s always an excuse, like it’s getting late, or Kara’s apartment is closer to Lena’s work, or they’re getting breakfast together in the morning so Lena should just stay the night.
Lena never refuses, just follows Kara into her bedroom, where a drawer full of Lena’s clothes have accumulated, where she has space in the closet and a toothbrush in the bathroom.
Lena always tries to remind herself that they’re just friends, but the lines have been blurring more and more lately and Lena doesn’t have the strength to stop it.
Kara’s close, their legs tangled together in sleep. Lena doesn’t move, doesn’t want Kara to stir, not while she looks so peaceful in sleep.
Lena’s eyes travel over Kara’s face, slack with sleep. Right now, she’s not the award-winning journalist, she’s not the hero that has the weight of the world on her shoulders, she’s just Kara.
A Kara that not many people get to see, a Kara that Lena knows she is lucky to have in her life.
From this close, even in the dim light, Lena can see the freckles scattered across Kara’s cheeks and the little scar on her forehead.
Lena lets herself have this moment, lets herself look, lets herself enjoy the warmth of Kara next to her and pretend that this is something she gets to keep forever.
She’s so distracted by her own thoughts, she doesn’t notice the change in Kara’s breathing, doesn’t notice that she’s awake until it’s too late.
“Were you watching me sleep?”
Lena’s cheeks heat as blue eyes open to meet hers, striking even when she still looks half asleep.
“No.”
Kara’s mouth ticks up. “Liar. It’s okay,” Kara continues. “I’ve definitely watched you sleep before so we’re even.”
Lena bites her lip as she tries not to smile, and she doesn’t miss the way Kara’s eyes glance down.
“Are we talking watching me sleep Edward Cullen style where you sneak into my room and watch me sleep, or…?” Lena asks, struggling to keep a straight face as she does.
Kara huffs out a laugh. “I never should have shown you those movies. And no, I’ve never snuck into your room to watch you sleep.”
“Noted.”
Kara gives her a little shove, more awake now. It makes Lena acutely aware of just how close they are, but Lena can’t bring it in herself to move.
Kara looks so soft in the morning light, and Lena wants nothing more than to snuggle closer, to wrap her arms around Kara, bury herself in Kara’s warmth and never let go.
“Did you sleep okay?” Kara asks after a long moment, eyes still crinkled with sleep.
“I did,” Lena nods. She always sleeps better when she’s with Kara.
“Good. Now, since I hardly ever get the chance because of how early you usually get up, I’m going to make you breakfast in bed.”
“No, you don’t-“ Lena starts, but Kara’s having none of it.
“Nope, I never get to treat you, you’re always buying me things, so this time, I’m going to treat you. You’re going to do nothing but lie here and rest while I go and make us some breakfast, and that’s an order.”
The look Kara gives her says there’s no room for arguments.
Lena wonders if she argued for Kara to snuggle in bed a bit longer, if Kara would do it.
“Okay,” Kara says, suddenly more awake, an excited glint in her eyes. Lena wonders if she should be worried. “Stay here.”
Before Lena can even register what’s happening, Kara leans forward and presses a quick kiss to her forehead. Time slows down after, however, as Kara pulls away, looking worried.
Kara bites her lip. “Was that okay?”
Lena feels like she can barely breathe, and the lip bite isn’t helping.
“Yes,” Lena nods, a smile slipping onto her face as she fully realises what Kara has just done. It’s more than okay.
Kara visibly relaxes. “Okay, good.” She hesitates for a moment before she leans back in, placing another quick kiss to Lena’s forehead, this time smiling as she pulls away.
She’s out of bed a moment later, Lena missing the contact immediately. “Don’t move.”
Lena smiles. “I won’t,” she promises.
She knows they should probably talk about what’s going go between them, because they’re crossing more and more lines every day. But not today, today she’s going to enjoy Kara bringing her breakfast in bed, and maybe tomorrow she’ll finally tell Kara how she really feels.
