dreams;
I have not been on tumblr for the longest time and I have not written anything/ any journal in an even longer time. but i needed to get something out of my chest.
i had a dream about my dad. he passed last year. it has been slightly over a year. in my dream he was still frail and forgetful. it was as though he was at the initial stages of his dementia. he was going out or was trying to go out but i stopped him from walking out the front door.
i have been thinking about penning down my thoughts about my dad's passing ever since he passed. but i just couldn't put my thoughts down into text.
i miss him at times. especially when i see a frail old man on the street or when a show talks about dementia. which i realise its starting to happen more often now.
my dad has never been an outspoken person, he was quiet but he was probably our biggest supporters. my favourite memory of him was when i told my parents that i wanted to get a tattoo (my first one!) and my mother was hella objecting it but he just firmly said that tattoos are a form of art. i have never knew before that that he viewed tattoos as such. from then i remember thinking that i have such a cool that. for reference, no one in my family has a tattoo at that point, i was the first one to get one.
i guess i just wanted to say i miss him.
When I’m missing you.
It was definitely no easy feat for him to plan surprises. Especially not when most of his schedule was known national wide, Oikawa had to bribe so many people to keep this matter of absolute secrecy. Silently, he pushed the front door, smiling as he saw the familiar pair of worn shoes still there. He dropped his bags by the couch, tip toeing his way into the bedroom.
He was not expecting the sounds that grew louder as he drew closer to the room. It has been years since he heard that music. Heart racing as he heard the lyrics. The bedroom door was left ajar and he did not want to break the small enjoyment.
“It’s a lonely ride on the midnight train…”
Oikawa leaned against the door frame, crossing his limbs as he indulged himself further. The soft melody from the guitar making him smile even wider. It brought back memories of nights along busy streets and awkward conversations.
“Summer’s so lost when it’s rainin’ in June… That’s how it feels when I’m missin’ you…”
Just as he was enjoying himself, the music stopped. Oikawa pouted but brought his face up. “Iwa-chan, mean! Why did you stop?”
“You’re home early, shittykawa. Isn’t your flight in two days?”
“I was afraid my Iwa-chan will be bored and miss me too much, so I flew straight home after the match was over. I didn’t even attend the after party. I was worried Iwa-chan would be loney without me.”
Hajime, as if on cue, rolled his eyes and backhanded the volleyball player. “As if.” He strolled past the other, his guitar already back in its case by the bed. “Iwa-chan, mean!” Oikawa eyed the black case and was tempted to ask why his lover never plays it as often anymore but held back his question because now, he had more important issues at hand.
“When I flew back early…” He pouted, throwing his arms over Iwaizumi’s shoulders. Eyes glancing at the digital clock, he grinned. He still had time. Leaving a soft kiss on tanned skin, he breathed in his lover’s scent. “Happy birthday, Hajime.” He didn’t need to look to know that Hajime was smiling softly despite his words. “You didn’t have to rush back just to celebrate.”
“I do, because you’re what’s worth it.”
“Stop saying such embarrassing things.”
“Make me.”
“Tooru.”
Oikawa smiled widely, hugging his shorter lover closer. “Happy birthday, Hajime. I’m glad you were born.”
“You’re an embarrassment.” Iwaizumi didn’t even try to hide it as his smile started to spread across his face. “Idiotkawa.”
