I'm not saying I'm Manic, but...

Briar was originally a pop troll. During the escape from Bergentown (she was about eight), her mom didn’t make it out of the tunnels. She went gray from this, but unlike Branch it manifested more as anger and aggression. The happiness from the other pop trolls felt like they were rubbing her loss in her face, and any advice they tried to give her only made her feel worse. She eventually left pop village to travel on her own. Due to her being reckless and quick to anger, she picked up a few injuries on the way.

Eventually she (about 10) made her way into rock troll territory, where she came across a younger king Thrash and his band rehearsing. She was intrigued by their music. It was loud and harsh and angry, but it resonated with her in a way no other music had since she lost her colors.

Distracted, she was spotted and grabbed by Thrash’s band. Initially they were suspicious of a pop troll being in their territory, but after hearing that she had abandoned the pop trolls and was out on her own, Thrash took pity on her and took her under his wing.

Rock music started to bring back Briar’s passion for music, and gave her an outlet for her negative feelings that pop music hadn’t. She started playing instruments again, but still refused to sing in public (though Thrash did sometimes hear her singing quietly at night).

This all culminated in her (now 12) picking a new name (Barb) and Thrash putting on a debut concert for her, officially welcoming her into the rock trolls. She had been playing backup guitar for Thrash in his concerts, but this time she would have a song all to herself.

She performed in front of the entire kingdom, finally fully connecting to the rock string and to her inner music. She had a transformation similar to getting her colors back, except it also changed her genre to rock and her appearance to match.
