Reverse Hallmark movie where a culturally Christian woman who’s struggling to make ends meet to support her deadbeat conservative husband delivers Chinese food to a pretty Jewish woman on Christmas Eve. And they fall in love and she converts and they get married under the chuppah on the following year’s Christmas Day. And it becomes their lesbian anniversary and they never celebrate Christmas again. Is this anything
It's something I desperately want, so yes.
You hate the Israeli government because you hate jews
I hate the Israeli government because I love my fellow jews and Palestinians. I want israel to be a better country both in domestic and foreign policy, and for there to be a peaceful two state solution. I want the best for both jews and Palestinians.
We are not the same

people will really come into kink spaces and say you can't forcefem women like there wasn't a feature length movie about an elderly gay man forcefemming a woman as part of scheme to thwart an elaborate assassination attempt before the killer even determined their target
What... What movie is this.
ain't no way in hell this post even breaks 500
i was trying so hard to remember the nonexistent assassination subplot in My Fair Lady
Esther: Haman is trying to genocide my people!
Ahasuerus, who gave Haman permission to do that four chapters ago:
Okay but in his defense when he did that he didn’t realize it included Esther, who is hot.
“I didn’t realize my evil vizier would try to kill MY wife”
hey so you actually cannot meaningfully separate jewish ethnicity from jewish religion. yes there are non-religious jews but even the secular aspects of our culture are inextricably linked to our spirituality, ritual practices, and mythology. you cannot claim to support jews if that support ends the minute we express a connection to our ancestral customs.
maidens if you are going to flee dramatically from my castle in the middle of the night once i reveal my true nature to you please leave your candelabra on the little ledge by the portcullis we are running out of them
starting to think these maidens are stumbling in soaked through from the rain just to steal my beautiful gowns and homewear are any of you actually lost
At the checkout in Home Goods loading the belt with nothing but candelabras in all shapes & sizes while the cashier watches sympathetically and asks if it’s the maidens again

like if a Jewish person is telling you you’re being antisemitic and your response is “I bet they’re a Zionist” then you are probably antisemitic sry
yes conservatism is on the rise yes tradwife content is as popular as ever yes pink jobs and blue jobs are fucking stupid BUT there is still such a big change in how straight women are talking about relationships online.
they're talking about how they're no longer interested in dating because their female friends treat them better than boyfriends do. they're realizing that being single is always better than being in a bad relationship. it's becoming a lot more normal and fun and hot for women to be single at any age. the women who have settled down with truly good men in truly happy relationships are encouraging other women to not take any shit because the right man won't need to be "trained". they're talking about how their mothers and grandmothers warned them to get a job and not get married, and they followed the advice.
tradwife content is performance. it's propaganda. there are so few women actually living that life. but we know for a fact that more women than ever are educated, working, and single. and all I see (admittedly in my woke ass algorithm) is women talking about how they're done settling for mediocre relationships. and I love it.
Magneto was Right, X-Men: The Last Stand
Ofra Haza in the 1970s.
A lot of people hate to hear this, but they in particular really need to understand it.
If you were raised in the US, and you weren't specifically raised as a specific religion other than Christianity, then you are culturally Christian. Yes, even if you were raised atheist. Yes, I know you hate that idea. People who were raised in specific other religions in the US are usually still influenced by it, just not as thoroughly.
But specific Protestant values and attitudes have worked their way so far into US culture that we do not ever think about. (They've gotten into US Catholicism, too, Catholics elsewhere are frequently WTF at US Catholics, or so I'm told.) The "Protestant work ethic" is one of them, that "manager in your head" you should kill. Purity as a principle. The nobility of suffering (very Calvinist specifically). The prosperity culture (again, very Calvinist). A whole list. I'm honestly not good enough at Christian history to list it all. After all, I wasn't raised Christian myself. But I can see and acknowledge that I was raised in a culture with a Christian hegemony. If I pay attention, I can see where it's affected how I think. And when I do pay attention and look at it, I can change it. I can root out those patterns in my head. It's a lot of work, but it's well worth doing.
Denying that you are culturally Christian on the basis of your absence of Christian upbringing, or absence of Christianity now, just shows that you don't understand what cultural Christianity is. It is the culture that you have marinated in all your life, if you grew up in the US. The same way you've marinated in racism, classism, sexism, right on down the line (and generally they are all one thing). All of that affects you, and the only way to fix it is to acknowledge it and work on it.
This isn't a "hot take". It's just a fucking fact.
I'm posting at 10:30pm US Pacific time on a Sunday night, and fucking nobody is going to see this. Or reblog it. But I feel better having said it.
Do NOT leave this in tags!

Anyway adults saying “I don’t know isn’t an answer” is part of the reason I learned to lie and bluff so well.
Really though, what was that about? I don’t know is a valid answer. It communicates very clearly that the child cannot answer your question, and therefore maybe needs more help understanding the question/situation. Why do you try and push them to give an answer they don’t have? That stresses them out and it makes them feel like they’re being punished for not knowing something.
i thought i was the only one with an “i don’t know” problem because my parents made it seem it was the strangest and also most horrible thing in the world. i genuinely didn’t know and they got angry and that only blocked my thoughts more which meant i didn’t know the answer to anything else.
THIS ^^^
Also “I don’t know” is a commonly used sentence for children with ADHD/Autism. We DON’T know why we can’t do our homework. We DON’T know why we can’t eat certain foods sometimes. We DON’T know why we forgot to do a chore. It’s really distressing when you genuinely don’t know and people think you’re just lying or indifferent
And honestly even as an adult, saying “I don’t know” is the proper choice sometimes because it also sets the example that sometimes not knowing a certain thing is normal. Not learning to accept when you don’t know something stunts growth.
under-discussed part of dealing with antisemitism, besides the obvious (because it’s hateful and the libels lead to real world violence) is that it also just makes you feel messy.
like, idk, if you don’t really have conflicts with people in real life or about a lot of things, but you’re still constantly put in this fight-or-flight situation, that affects you. it can be traumatic absolutely, but it can also just make you feel like a mess, like you have too many conflicts, like you don’t have it together enough.
intellectually you know that’s not the case because this is one of the few things you actually have consistent conflict over. so it’s not your fault. but it can still feel like it.
