RIP Paul Motian...

Paul Motian is one of the great american jazz drummers that played in one of my favorite and most beloved trios lead by Bill Evans in the Bill Evans Trio.

Bill Evans, Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian was an amazing grouping creating one of the most legendary live recordings at the Village Vangaurd in NYC.

sad i never got to see him play...

I posted this last night (smaller poster)

...and upon further investigation and while looking for a better image (larger photo)

i realized that shepard fairey actually changed the poster in response to an ows organizer...

the email exchange between the two can be read here on shepard fairey's obeygiant.com website...

it's an excellent exchange and makes me respect ows and shepard all the more...

this is all really amazing.
