Perfectly Imperfect

He knew the wall in Sam’s mind was too good to be true. He knew it would’ve come down eventually — that it had already started to come down, back in Season 6, before Cas did anything. And he knows that Cas didn’t inflict Hell on Sam in the first place. Sam did it to himself; Sam chose to throw himself in the Pit, to sacrifice himself and all that came with it. Even Dean knows that. (Lord knows, if Dean can find a way to blame himself for something he’ll do it, but he doesn’t blame himself for Sam’s Hell!trauma and he doesn’t blame anyone else for it either.) So listening to Cas say, “it’s all my fault”, blaming himself for others’ choices, for things that were out of his control, it’s gotta be like looking into a mirror for Dean, at the man he was not too long ago.
