I’m dissappointed in the Uglies. But tbh I low key expected that to be way overthought and that the main idea will be… in the background. It was so focused on the main character, that they ignored some plot holes, and mostly, ignored other character’s feelings and insights into the situation. It was rushed, yet, we were left with an open ending.
The vibe? A mixture of The Maze Runner, Divergent, Equilibrium and every other dystopian movie/book with female lead. I’m sorry to conclude it was unoriginal.
Netflix, tua season four was really disappointing and depressing. It felt rushed, there wasn’t enough dialogue and fight scenes, just boring montages, Luther had way too much screen time, Five deserved better and what the hell did you do to Klaus?
You just killed everything you’ve made so far. Truly, horrible season.
How the hell does this work. One day I think that world is the most beautiful place to be and that nothing can be that bad. The next day I’m like: it is that bad, I don’t want to live anymore bye.
Okay, so, when I saw Inside out as a kid I couldn’t relate. I always knew that something was missing, or there were somethings more than they should. Now after Inside out 2 I feel completely fulfilled, yes, everything made sense, it was those new emotions that were missing in Inside out, it was that personality tree that Riley developed it was Riley who controlled her emotions not emotions controling her. It was everything I could’ve imagined. It was perfect. I loved it. And I say that Inside out was unnecessary.

I have a confession.
Netflix recommended to me Julie and the phantoms recently. I binged it. AND THEN FOUND OUT THAT THEY’VE CANCELLED IT? NETFLIX HOW DARE YOU RECOMMEND ME SOMETHING THAT YOU CANCELLED? WHY BE SO MEAN?
We don’t have enough lesbian side characters with side romantic stories.
Hey, I’d like to know if there are other people who call Coruscant from Star Wars croissant. Just me? Okay.
Nothing hurts more than finding potentially good tv-show that got cancelled after one season leaving you with cliffhanger.
Magnifico wasn’t a villain, Rosas were just dumb enough to willingly have monarchy instead of democracy and then were surprised that king didn’t care anout their interests.
Magnifico and Amaya are the ones who founded Rosas though? I highly doubt Magnifico was like "okay guys do you want a democracy" when he was building the place.
You're assuming people had a say in what the Rosas government looked like, when nowhere in the movie does it imply that's the case.
No, I am reffering to those tourists on the beginning that saw what he does with wishes and were like “ooh that looks interesting, lets join this kingdom”. These people did have a say in this. And yes, I assumed that more citizens in this city did a similiar thing. Magnifico and his wife couldn’t build a community without people willing to join that community.
Immigrants don't get to control the entire government. Sure, these people might've picked Rosas over another kingdom, but that's based on what they've heard about it. And what would they have heard about it? That it's a country where your dreams can come true. That might sound better than other options.
It's kind of like how people immigrated to the United States in the 1800s because they were told it was a place that if you worked hard, you could get what you wanted/needed out of life. But then, once they moved here, their life was just as hard as before.
Just because Magnifico is good at advertising his kingdom as a place you want to go to doesn't mean that people have a say in how he rules. Just because his kingdom looks more appealing than nearby ones doesn't mean it's ideal for people, either. It means it's the best when comparing to other options, not that it's the best when compared to some ideal country in our heads.
Also, look at their clothing. This story takes place long before democracy was commonplace. So they'd be choosing which monarch would be the most likely to treat them right. Democracy wouldn't even be an option.
Well, those are all really good points. But still, it bothers me that all citizens acted like victims. Like yeah, what Magnifico did wasn’t ideal, but come on, if I had a wish for example to play guitar I would’ve just learned how to play by myself and not hope that someone will magically teach me it in a few seconds. It isn’t that hard. And about the lady that wanted to fly, I mean, yeah that is impossible to do by yourself. However, in the end, she didn’t get that wish fulfilled she was just told - yeah, here is some Peter, try to figure that out together, idk. And she was okay with that. They were all suddenly okay with their wishes not being fulfilled. So… I don’t know anymore. The whole plotline just has so many holes. It isn’t really thought through.
I don't really see them as acting like victims. I think they're acting hurt because they feel betrayed. Magnifico promised to keep their wishes safe and that worthy wishes would be granted. When they find out he lied, yeah it makes sense they'd be upset.
Also, I think most of the wishes aren't really something you choose to give up. It's not like ... any old wish. Like I wish for more money, but that wouldn't be the wish Magnifico would take because it's just something I want, it's not a deep part of me. The wishes Magnifico has seem to be something that drives someone, more like someone's biggest aspiration in life.
So for Asha's grandfather, that'd be his wish to inspire people. Music was how he thought about inspiring people, but it wouldn't have been the only way he could do it. It's like ... more like a lifelong goal or something that affects how your whole life would go.
For a lot of people, these are wishes that their children will succeed in life. A lot of the wishes we see or hear about are things that people can aspire toward, but not actually do on their own. For parents, they can do their best, but their children's success is dependent on the child's choices, not just the parent's. Even some of the ones that Magnifico grants aren't things people could actually achieve on their own. Being the best seamstress? That's not something you can really just do. Becoming a seamstress just takes some work. Being the best, most well known, most renowned, etc? that's more than hard work. It requires some luck. It requires that you make things that aren't just useful, but popular. It requires that other seamstresses aren't as good at following fashion trends as you.
I also don't think they were mad that he didn't grant their wishes. They were upset and hurt that he wasn't even planning on granting many of them, but had led them on. So they're happy at the end because they have the chance to make the wishes come true on their own. If Magnifico had been honest and returned wishes he never planned on granting, I don't think people would've been upset, or at least as upset. It's about his lying and keeping them from the chance of pursuing their wishes. It's not about him just not granting wishes.
Okay, but those aren’t wishes anymore. Those are dreams at best. This leads me to whole movie title being misinterpreted. I mean, when I hear “wish” I imagine a genie, a bottle, and three wishes. Three wants, that are usually physical. People wish for thing. They wish for some change in their life. Their wishes change over time, just like people. If we are to talk about something that influences out whole life, our sole existence in this world, then I would choose “soul”, or “inspiration” or “desire”. Not wish. This leads to many misinterpretations and misconpeptions. Sure, when you put it like that it does make sense, but when you look at it like genie-wishes, it doesn’t really make sense. And I did that and I don’t think that am the only one who sees wishes like that. I mean, yeah, english is my second language, maybe I am missing something.
And about Magnifico not granting wishes, I still think that it was unwise to give the wishes to him. Like he granted one a month. Only one a month. And how many people were there? Even if he did consider the wish unharmful, their chances are still pretty slim. And the more people joined the kingdom the smaller chance they all had. Why not keep it and try to persuade it yourself? Most of them were doable. Life isn’t that easy, you do have to work for things, and when you they are given to you, you don’t appretiate them as much. Actually if you really think about it those people were lazy. Yeah, i know, some wishes are impossible to grant, therefore those people are understandably exceptions, but still.
Magnifico wasn’t good, but I can’t say he was bad. Selfish? Yes. Narcissit? Definitely. But what I was surprised about was the fact, that he did keep those wishes safe for.. i dont even know how long. How old was he anyways? I understand that couple of centuries? Idk it wasn’t really explained. Nothing really was, the more I think about it. While I’m at that- why all the animals in the forest wished to speak? Like none of them wanted to idk be a different animal or ressurrect their parent (Bambi) or something else? Yeah that wasnt really thought through.
Where was I? Magnifico protected those wishes for years, never gave them up, and after Asha learned how he sees them all as a threat she was all like “oh no hes a vilian”. However, It was understandable. Every monarch or dictator fears for their high position and eventually becomes paranoid. It happened to Stalin. It happened to all of them. So it is normal that Magnifico feels like that. Actually if she stopped and thought about it for a moment she may have realised that he needed psychological help. But no. Hes a villian he doesnt care about his citizens. No real king ever did. So, Magnifico was actually better than real kings. And since it is a prequel to all fairytales (i suppose) that Magnifico is real-life king and not fairytale-one.
After he used the wishes to create that magic stick it was just this problem escalating and eventually led to his madness.
While we are at his mental state- it was really mean like his wife betrayed him. Yeah he was losing it, but those are the times we need help the most. She could’ve tried to reach out to him more, maybe even take his book and other things idk, so he couln’t use them. I mean… did she even love him? At the end she was so quickly over him. I get it she had to be strong for citizens etc etc but she didn’t even mourn or cry or anything.
And actually Magnifico himself wasnt that bad, it was the dark side of the magic (sorry i dont remember how they called it in the story) that made him worse. The same thing happened to Anakin. (Okay, that is not ideal example, but the trope exists).
And, tbh I am starting to like our phylosophical depate about fiction characters, please, do continue. (And I don’t mean it sarcastically, like, I really do like a good conversation.)

I want to go to Disneyland and spray somewhere word “fuck” so they can’t let small children in and the whole place is left for me.
Yall did any of you notice Rick Riordan in first ep. sitting in the background when Percy is in principals office?
