Ultimately, you're getting a book either way. The question is, would you like something satisfactory that you can look back on fondly for the rest of your life, or do you want something that the author rushed out over the course of a bunch of sleepless nights that reflects the quality of those working conditions?

Each clan is considered a family because each one is often made up of 1-2 main family lines at a time, usually most cats within the clan ARE family, either through blood, adoption or marriage. Of course there are a few cats who occasionally join with no ties, however they are still family because they serve the clan just like any other!

Oh also young/single cats are encouraged to explore outside the territories and meet new cats for the chance to find a mate outside the clan to bring home (or just a possible parent to their kits w/ no ties if they don't want to bring back a mate)
