To the Off fan community in Japan
I'm still in disbelief about what happened in Shibuya and meeting so many of you. It felt like a dream. It was an incredible moment; I didn't expect so many of you to be there, or to be so invested in my game's universe. Thank you so much for that, but also for your kindness, and for your involvement. I'm also truly sorry to everyone who couldn't get a ticket. I hope to return to Japan someday and offer you another gathering, perhaps on a larger scale.
Thank you also so much for all your letters, illustrations, and handmade goodies. I took the time to read everything carefully, and I was very moved and happy to receive all these messages. I will treasure them forever.
I made this little image to thank you. Like many of you, I also used Google Translate to write the text. I hope it's correct!
Rainbow dragons
A pair of dragons I drew in a pad of black paper I was working to use up, I also wanted to draw something that wouldn’t require a bunch of preplanning like I usually do. Done with colouring pencil.
The soundtrack of the first chapter of my Noelle and Dess fic, Broken and Winded, is complete. It'll soon be avaliable on my Bandcamp gallery. This is not the first time I've done music based on a fic, or "transformative music", as I call it, though I'd say it's the first time I've done music that fits specific scenes I've written.
Samples and motifs used (because if that dude sampled Giygas, I can go beyond):
Tsukasa Masuko - Title/Terminal/Neutral (from "Shin Megami Tensei", Atlus, 1992)
Hidehito Aoki - Actual Feeling… You (from "Majin Tensei", Atlus, 1994)
Kōji Niikura - Dark Premonition (from "Clock Tower", Human Entertainment, 1995)
Kōji Niikura - The Return of Scissorman (from "Clock Tower", Human Entertainment, 1996)
Howard Shore - TV Passions (from "Videodrome: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack", 1982, Varèse Sarabande)
Gary Spinrad - Unknown (Unused)/Home Intruder (from "Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh", Sierra Online, 1996)
David Rovin - Twin Juniper Garden (from "Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix", Eidos Interactive/Kronos, 2001)
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Architecture and Morality (from "Architecture and Morality", Virgin Records, 1981)

day 253 - BB is now on the Switch and PS5!
Wow, I can't believe in 22. How the heck am I still alive?
And, uh, I'm thinking about that stupid Spider-Man comic that insulted people who enjoy Deltarune decades before the game was even released.
How so? Well, in the infamous "One More Day" story arc, Spider-Man sells his marriage with Mary Jane to the devil, aka Mephisto. Yeah, because for whatever reason (lazy writing), nobody in the Marvel Universe can heal a bullet wound and Peter Parker is written as a brat who can't bear losing Aunt May and he wallows himself in overdramatic despair as he shouts "it's my fault she's dying!" and "I'd do anything to see my aunt get better".
And this is why he sells his marriage to the devil, but before that, Mephisto has the audacity to talk about alternative timelimes in which Peter Parker doesn't get to live with MJ. In one of them, he is a nerd asshole who talks shit about people who enjoy escapist fiction. It's a middle finger to all comic books fans, but that also includes videogame fans, novel fans, tv series fans, anyone who enjoys fiction to be fair.
Here, I'll share some couple of panels just so I'm not making any of this up, and because this was published too.
"Oh, but those places don't really exist"... "There's something missing"... "Because things didn't turn out the way they were supposed to be"... What a load of ass. Also, kind of ironic to have a fictional character who dismisses escapist fiction so hardly when most superhero comic books themselves are escapist fiction.
These panels offended me when I first saw them, and Linkara also got angry at them too, and, uh, why am I bringing this up? Well, I have no idea, I was going to just share a fanart of Susie that I drew on my birthday, and another one that I drew days later, they look great, but I felt like commenting a bit on the nature of transformative works. You know, I'm not just an artist, I'm a person too, who does stuff for free on my free time based on my free thinking.
These characters I'm drawing aren't real, sure... I'm not seeing a Susie walking around the street asking people if they know if Master Bates is a pianist or some other horrid pun... And that would be hilarious in a twisted way, yeah, but anyway, these characters aren't real, but we make them be with our imagination. Like, I just deliberately summoned in your mind the picture of a purple lizard amusing herself with shit talk thrown at randoms just because.
Why? Well, I can do that, and I felt like doing so to prove a point. And the point is, uh... I don't have a text ready to be sent, I'm sort of improvising at this point, but whatever... I draw things because that makes me feel things in a world that treats people as less than, well, people.
There is meaning in the stuff that I do, that you do, that we do, that they do... Transformative works allow people to express themselves in a myriad of ways that people often aren't allowed to due to restrictions and audiences and ratings and all of this nonsense that some of us desperately try to make sense of.
Think about how many characters aren't allowed to be gay or trans or enby or lesbian or all the colors in the flag in their respective canon, but people out there are like "NOW KISS! NOW HUG! NOW FEEL LOVED, YOU DESERVE IT!"
Or how about characters who die, people are like "NOW LIVE! NOW SEE YOUR FRIENDS! Don't have any? Well, THEY ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND NOWS AND THEY HUG AND KISS AND THEY CARE FOR YOU BEFORE AND AFTER YOU DIED, BUT NOW YOU LIVE AND NOW YOU ARE BEING LOVED ONCE MORE!"
Or how about characters who are often mistreated by their friends? *Looking at you, 2019 Moominvalley's handling of Sniff* Well, people can just be like "HEY HERE'S MY OC HE IS BEST FRIENDS WITH X! HE LIKES THEM! HE DOESN'T JUDGE THEM! HE LOVES THEM!"
Thing is, games aren't useless. You are not a loser for enjoying escapist fiction. To "escape" from reality by reading a book that you like or watching some animation you really enjoy or even drawing some doodles of that favorite character of yours in a paper or a drawing tablet or even your skin doesn't make you a coward.
No, there's something wonderful about wanting a character to be alright after they went through the worst.
There's something quite powerful about wanting to give a happy ending to someone who has a million reasons to earn it... And doesn't get it. But you get to have them get it if you really want it.
There's something inherently human about doing things that make you and other people feel good because feeling good or finding a source of goodness in your life that makes you feel good FEELS GOOD.
So, uh... One More Day is a bad story, and I'm really enjoying the kinds of artworks that I'm doing, they make me happy, they make me sad, and they make me feel things, lots and lots of things.
And I'm drawing comics at a regular basis despite my job schedule suffocating a lot of my imagination, but hey, I'm still living, and I'm willing to live by each day, and I have no idea if this rant makes any sense, but it's what came to mind with little to no revision. Happy Easter! Here's some artwork of this deltaAU I'm working with.
welcome back spring! i've really missed you.

for a-mouse-ment only!!
greetings all,
Official Announcement that Anthology Of The Killer is coming to Switch and PS5 in the near future!! This has been in the works for a while, Glasgow company Hairy Heart are handling the porting and have thankfully not been throwing things at me for my suboptimal code. I think the game looks cool on the bright screen of the Switch. And it'll be an important qualifying step for Mario And Sonic Meet The Killer At The 20XX Winter Olympics, which will be announced pending delivery of several letters made of cut up magazines. Keep your eyes peeled for more news about enjoying the act of killing in your immersive home entertainment environs.
