how to ask your parents to use the right pronouns on you when youāve already come out and theyāve just been ignoring the fact youāre trans
my mom has a friend who has a failed program-service dog and heās literally my favorite creature
Heās a really smart lab, he learned all the commands, but he just has an affinity for doing them whenever he wants
So this ladyās dog literally turns on-off lights, opens doors, opens the fridge, etc⦠at his own wishes.
Her house looks like its baby-proofed, with kid safe locks on everything and stuff, but really she just has a dog thatās learned all the mobility service dog commands but has a mind of his own.
Chaotic Good Boy
Of all the strange things to happen in 2017, Smash Mouth explicitly supporting trans people during pride month is by far the most pleasant. Hey now, youāre an all star.
Half of me is convinced that the āsoft gentle uwu trans boy mlm beanā thing is partly trans men not coming to terms with being men, and using feminine presentation and nb identity as a way out of being a man, because āMen are Badā. Itās a sort of āIām a guy but Iām a Good Type of Guy because Iām soft and not ā100% a manā and donāt present or look like a manā kind of mentality. Itās a āneuteringā of the self to seem less dangerous. And that kind of distancing from manhood and gay male experiences is whyĀ āMLMā discourse and opinions and spaces are so bad, and have so little idea of what actual gay/bi male spaces are like
I was a lot like that, I think. Way back when, whenĀ āfemme ftmā was a thing, I grasped onto that as aĀ āway outā of being a man, because I was ashamed of that. Later on it was non-binary identities (ādemiboyā,Ā ānan0boyā,Ā āmagiboyā), until I realised I could just be a man, and that didnāt make me any worse of a person. Like, if youād asked me at the time why I presented femly, Iād have said it was because I liked it, but that was false even though I didnāt know it
If someone asks me I will always say I'm a man. But at the same time I challenge the social norms about being a guy around here (emotionless walls I guess you could say) and I never think it's any less than being manly

how to tell your friend not to call you your birth name when you use only your chosen name and talk about hating the birth name all the time but she still has no clue
its not even a hundred years from WW2 where nazi ideology & white supremacy quite literally got millions of ppl systematically murdered, and some ppl still act like nazism isĀ ājust an opinionā and thatĀ āeveryoneās entitled to an opinionā as if it was something akin to a favorite color or food preference instead of a violent, manipulative, dangerous propaganda
how to appear completely androgynous
Something I wish more people would understandā¦
Whatās her name?
Her name is Jane Elliott. She was a former schoolteacher, now sheās anti-racism activist, feminist and LGBT activist. Sheās tiny, mean, and boss as fuck.
Sheās known for her āblue eyes-brown eyes experimentā where she divides a group of volunteers from the blues and the browns. The minute the people walk in, the blue-eyes know theyāre not welcomed. She makes them wait in a separate room, gives them shitty chairs, bad food, and shows them less respect. And (obviously) it causes all sorts of discomfort and rage, but thatās precisely her point. It doesnāt help that most blue-eyed volunteers happen to be white as well. Sometimes they get the message, sometimes they donāt and leave, sometimes crying or screaming. And Jane Elliott says thatās exactly what minorities want to do everyday of their lives, but they simply cannot do.
Did I mention sheās boss as fuck?
Note that the blue eyes-brown eyes experiment started with her students. I think she taught third grade, so 8 and 9 year-olds. Thereās whole documentaries on the experiment and what the kids learned and how it effected them later in life. Her expirement is one of the few things I actually remember from my high school psychology class.Ā
This is from the Wikipedia article on Elliott:Ā
āFirst exercise involving eye color and brown collars[edit]
Steven Armstrong was the first child to arrive in Elliottās classroom, (referring to Martin Luther King, Jr.) he asked āWhyād they shoot that King?ā After the rest of the class arrived, Elliott asked them how they think it feels to be a black boy or girl. She suggested to the class that it would be hard for them to understand discrimination without experiencing it themselves and then asked the children if they would like to find out. The children agreed with a chorus of āyeah"s. She decided to base the exercise on eye color rather than skin color in order to show the children what racial segregation would be like.[2]
On the first day of the exercise, she designated the blue-eyed children as the superior group. Elliott provided brown fabric collars and asked the blue-eyed students to wrap them around the necks of their brown-eyed peers as a method to easily identify the minority group. She gave the blue-eyed children extra privileges, such as second helpings at lunch, access to the new jungle gym, and five extra minutes at recess. The blue-eyed children sat in the front of the classroom, and the brown-eyed children were sent to sit in the back rows. The blue-eyed children were encouraged to play only with other blue-eyed children and to ignore those with brown eyes. Elliott would not allow brown-eyed and blue-eyed children to drink from the same water fountain and often chastised the brown-eyed students when they did not follow the exerciseās rules or made mistakes. She often exemplified the differences between the two groups by singling out students and would use negative aspects of brown-eyed children to emphasize a point.
At first, there was resistance among the students in the minority group to the idea that blue-eyed children were better than brown-eyed children. To counter this, Elliott lied to the children by stating that melanin was linked to their higher intelligence and learning ability. Shortly thereafter, this initial resistance fell away. Those who were deemed āsuperiorā became arrogant, bossy, and otherwise unpleasant to their āinferiorā classmates. Their grades on simple tests were better, and they completed mathematical and reading tasks that had seemed outside their ability before. The āinferiorā classmates also transformed ā into timid and subservient children who scored more poorly on tests, and even during recess isolated themselves, including those who had previously been dominant in the class. These childrenās academic performance suffered, even with tasks that had been simple before.[6]
The next Monday,[2] Elliott reversed the exercise, making the brown-eyed children superior. While the brown-eyed children did taunt the blue-eyed children in ways similar to what had occurred the previous day, Elliott reports it was much less intense. At 2:30 on that Wednesday, Elliott told the blue-eyed children to take off their collars. To reflect on the experience, she asked the children to write down what they had learned.[2]ā

Your abuserās trauma does not justifiy them abusing you. Your abuserās disability does not justify them abusing you. Your abuserās gender does not justify them abusing you. Your abuserās illness does not justify them abusing you.
For everyone that needs to hear this: there is nothing you could ever do thatās punishable by abuse, and there is NOTHINGĀ anyone could ever say to justify the abuse you experience(d).

This is Taliesin Myrddin. Ā He was 23 years old. Ā He passed away last night in Portland Oregon along with another hero while defending two muslim girls from hateful abuse from a white supremecist on the MAX train. Ā The media has a lot of information to give you about the asshole that took their lives, but I want to share Taliesin and eventually the other hero too. Ā They are the ones who deserve to be known, they are the ones who literally died to do what was right. They are the true spirit of Portland Oregon, not the evil man who did this to them. Ā
I'm a trans psychology student. About the identity forming at 5 thing- this is actually true! For the majority of people, gender stabilizes around age 5, when gender roles typically become more prominent, and after all, cis is the majority. However this doesn't mean that people who question later are 'making it up' or anything! The most common age trans people start questioning is around puberty, so 11 fits right in there.
pschology is weird, but good to hear it from a person who knows whats what, thanks anonymoose for ur input
