One of my favorite things about Durge was how good you apparently were as the villain. Both Gortash and the nether brain are like "yeah, it was actually pretty great while you were here. It started going to shit once you were gone." Like we're it not for Orin you would have been the big bad and probably would have been successful. The Netherbrain straight up says it would have followed you, but then you broke your brain.
its also incredibly infuriating for an evil durge. everything was going literally perfect, and then orin steps in and ruins everything. the chosen are now even more distrustful of each other. so you have to come in, and completely change the plan. Ketheric is gone at this point, so the Dead Three is now just Bhaal and Bane. And it could even just be Bhaal depending on your Durge's decisions. That changes everything. You now have to fight the brain that was supposed to be helping you.
Honestly if durge were just to kill Ketheric and nothing more, Orin would truly have ruined everything. Gortash and Orin are at wits end with each other, and the brain would eventually break free. I don't think Orin would work with Gortash to bring it back under control. So now there's a rogue elder brain, and nobody's gotten anywhere.
