The 2026 NHL Rookie Faceoff will return to San Jose on September 12-15, 2026, featuring a return to a six-team prospect tournament: SJS, LAK, ANA, UTA, COL, and VGK.

Mayor’s Manor has learned through a variety of sources that the NHL Rookie Faceoff event is set to go big this September. Originally reconstructed as a six-team tournament back in 2018, Vegas hosted at their training facility in Summerlin that year and it featured the Kings, Ducks, Coyotes, Sharks, Avalanche, and Golden Knights.

It was a fantastic showcase for prospects from each of those teams, and it went on to later be held in Anaheim, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. After eventually growing to seven teams, last year was a little funky — as the event essentially split in half, with the three California teams doing their own thing. Meanwhile, the Avalanche hosted their own three-team deal in Colorado.

We’ve confirmed that for 2026, things are going old school. It is being planned as a six-team event once again. And it will include all of the original member clubs, with one slight exception. Arizona is now the Utah Mammoth.

From what we’ve been able to gather, some teams only want to play two games. Yet, the Kings and Mammoth are confirmed to play three games each.

one of my clients in an attorney for the NHLPA and she’s know Nathan since has 14 years old. she says him and his mom are two of the funniest people she’s ever met. she is constantly going on about what wonderful people his entire family is. she says that Nathan is not only kind and funny off the ice, he’s a little peculiar too, and then proceeded to tell a story about a time they were out on a business lunch with Nate and he was extremely quiet during the meal and then out of nowhere goes “what even is a rock? what’s the purpose of a rock?” and just starts going on about rocks and their meaning.
