Maomao is back!

(Spoilers) You know what I hope they portray well coming up in the anime from the light novels? The fact that Maomao doesn’t seem to think anyone would come for her. When Maomao sees Jinshi outside coming towards the fortress and is like “Could he possibly be here to rescue her?” but then immediately dismisses the possibility and then bam! he kicks down the door into the room only for Maomao to ask “I’m sorry, but might I ask you to protect me, Master Jinshi?” Not getting at all that’s exactly what he’s there for. Apologizing for even asking like he wouldn’t have even considered it after he literally just kicked down the door to get to her.

Like yes this is partly denial on Maomao’s part on not wanting to see what she means to Jinshi but also it’s her complete devaluation of herself. The unwillingness to see she could mean this much to someone. That Jinshi basically was grateful to Lahan and Lakan for giving him a legitimate excuse to go after Shishou cause he wanted to go get Maomao but without adequate means given his position, he couldn’t do it. But he wanted to, and now he’s there and Maomao is trying to pass it off as political, for the Emperor but it’s like, oh Maomao, no. He came mostly for you, to make sure you were safe.
