You didnt know that exodus tells the newly freed slaves rules for how they can own slaves, ans even beat them? You didnt know deuteronomy specifically gives men who rape unmarried women and children a pass and are exempt for rules against rape?
It is true that to become an atheist, all you have to do is read the bible, I guess
@postingtime2 I asked you to cite specific scriptures, not just give untrue generalizations which all atheists do when they have no ability to prove what theyâre trying to claim. Nice try but until you actually can prove your argument, thereâs no discussion here.
For people who claim that God doesnât exist, youâre awfully mad at him and bent on trolling those who have the truth and are willing to defend it with actual facts. Donât claim to know whatâs in Godâs Word like a Christian if you cannot back up what you say.

Whenever you watch a documentary about a cult, they act like their biggest sin is opposing homosexual behavior. Like sure they do child abuse, ritual suicide, forced polygamy, the occasional cannibalism. But did you hear that they don't support the lgbtaarp?
What is with these, quite frankly, insane takes about Vax not submitting due to his ego and wanting to âsave face?â Did we all watch the same show? You know, the one where thereâs a character who has barely any ego and sacrifices himself for his sister and friends over and over? I mean, if people are not able to understand the heroâs journey to this degree, I fear for the ability to grasp much media at all. When heroism is now being spun as selfish and egotistical, thatâs not just a bad take, itâs a dangerous one.
Because yeah, we can say this is fictional and regardless of how people perceive Vaxâs actions, itâs how he was written so people should bear with it and not be so offended. However, if you view a characterâs act of heroism as inherently selfish, what if a person commits such an act in real life? Would you call them an egotistical person just doing it for vanity? If a solider chooses to leap onto on a grenade for comrades, we donât say âwow, just doing it for his ego, what a loser.â No we honor such people because of the costs of their sacrifice. Are there some people who âplay the heroâ for attention? Sure, but that isnât what this is. This isnât a commentary on narcissistic manipulation. Itâs a character journey that leads to one man standing up to a vile, liar of a villain so others can do the same.
Them writing Vax as a character who doesnât submit is completely in line with his arc. Itâs not about ego or pride when he doesnât bow to Vecna. For one, the idea people seem to have that they wouldâve been able to regroup had Vax given in and Vecna wouldâve kept his promise is ludicrous. Heâs a villain, since when are you supposed to trust anything a villain says? Especially when he had just admitted to spinning an unholy web of lies for so long to convince them to kill him so he could resurrect. But yeah, sure, that guy would just let Vax go so they could regroup.
Second to add onto this, he chose Vax purposefully. He knew that Vaxâs abilities as the Champion of the Matron of Ravens was one of the only possibilities of stopping him and he was glad Keyleth had effectively taken that away. So his challenge is to Vax specifically because he holds a grudge against the one person who truly does stand in his way of taking power, namely the Matron and her Champion. In Vax denying him even the satisfaction of submission, itâs him still saying that the Matron and her Champion wonât give him the control he wants.
People just think that his death is so meaningless. My question then would be, what to you makes a death meaningful? Grog and Pike had just discussed this very thing when he was trying to wake her up about The Whispered One and she gave him her blood because she too had believed that everyoneâs death before had been for nothing. But Grog pointed out that he died for Pike and her father died for them. Just because someone chooses to die and someone else calls it a shame and worthless doesnât mean it was so. For Vaxâs character that death had a lot of meaning. Especially because of what he has to weigh in the balance of making that choice. He knew he was free of the Matronâs curse, he knew he could have a life with Keyleth and yet the importance of showing the world you do not have to bow to a liar and a villain was more important in that moment.
The reason Vox Machina is so enjoyable, at least to me, is because these characters have flaws and behave in a highly realistic, relatable way. Theyâre not perfect and can really fall on their face. Thatâs what happened with Keyleth. Peopleâs inability to admit she made a selfish decision because they consider it anti-feminist to say so is absurd. Itâs just narratively true. The others only bowed because they wanted to support her. You can see they disagree and are uncomfortable with the choice. Grog even tries to move forward until Pike discourages him. But itâs this well-rounded character growth and development which makes the story great. If they all just made the expected choice, they wouldnât be the characters we like anymore.
People are welcome to have differing opinions, the problem here is the overarching idea that a heroic action is actually the selfish one vs capitulation which isnât true at all. Thatâs the problem with driving these takes that Vax is the one in the wrong here, because he in no way is. Itâs just fascinating to me that people are trying to spin something objectively good and an honestly incredible character journey into something nasty.
I just saw a dog shit take about Vax killing himself in the s4 finale "to protect his ego" because he "couldn't lie to save himself" and that Keyleth deserved better
Is media literacy dead?? Vax is a heroic character. He has always, always sacrificed himself for the greater good. He will always sacrifice himself for others. His refusal to bend for the Whispered One was literally THE OPPOSITE OF SELFISH!! He did it to save the world! He is a hero and has been for a majority if not the entire show!
Yes, Keyleth does deserve better than losing Vax. She deserves her happy ending. But he was always doomed. He's been doomed since he became the Raven Queen's champion. She chose to be with him, even knowing who he is. The fact that he chose to sacrifice himself shows that he is the very opposite of selfish! He chose the world over spending the rest of his life with his girlfriend and his sister and Vox Machina, because he is a hero
Indeed, RIP to media literacy. Made a post about this very thing, Vax being sacrificial and why that makes him great and yet had people coming to me trying to explain how not great that is. Talk about confusingâŚI mean weâve had comic book heroes since forever. Sacrificial heroes are part of the fabric of society and we adore them because of this exact kind of characterization and now suddenly that honorable behavior is now seen as somehow wrong?? It truly is mind boggling and the opposite of understanding the story arc and why his death and any heroâs journey is meaningful at all.

50yo fb woman who spent the last 5+ years saying carbs were poison, being fat was a choice, keto is the solution to all health problems and everything was simple & straightforward and a matter of willpower discovering fasting can actually be bad for you and carbs are necessary for health, more at 11
More like, discovering Ozempic and the need for no willpower, just a shot or a pill and slowly wasting to death while still screaming about health consciousness
Well this ending was kinda confusing for me, not gonna lie. I get it that of course this series is going to go on for a bit so they canât have him pick a girl right away and need to drag things out but parts just donât totally make sense. Like Arashiyama saying that she likes him but canât be marriage material now due to her wanting to become super independent so she can help and support him. UmâŚdid I miss the last few episodes where she felt powerless and then figured out she could support him another way with the abilities she has? And then also that Gero said he doesnât care if sheâs this awesome boss babe, that he likes her as is and is glad sheâs there to stand behind him. Plus if people become so independent it then almost can become impossible for them to settle down.
On a similar note, when she said sheâd make him fall for her, Gero was flustered but to me it came across like he maybe was interested when he said heâd wait for her. But then later Kinosaki said his reaction in that moment was actually because he felt awkward and couldnât respond to Arashiyamaâs feelings in the way heâd like. Meaning what, he wanted to turn her down? This just makes it appear like Gero was lying when he said he would wait and sheâs a potential candidate. Iâm still gonna root for Arashiyama to be the end girl but after that final I think thatâs a way more remote possibility.
Uh, I donât know, maybe it is setting up Kinosaki as the endgame. I still think if thatâs the case sheâs a woman because regardless of what others wish, Gero isnât into dudes and thereâs so much mystery around Kinosaki. Anyway though, the rest was really good and at this point I could watch a whole Piichi spin-off and enjoy that too. Cause the way he described devotion to his girlfriend was precious đ

Hereâs my thing about the ultimate Vaxleth ending (not Season 4 but when the two are reunited after the campaigns). While I think thereâs beauty in how their love story has deep yearning and basically unfolds over so much time, I would love to see a better payoff in the end (if we ever get there in animated form). What I mean by that is, for those who know the campaign, which Iâll admit Iâm not as versed in but have tried to keep up as best I can, Vax and Keylethâs ending is still somewhat bitter-sweet. Yes, he comes back and it appears heâs basically immortal so now heâs the one who will outlive her vs there being the stress of lifespans as before. However, heâs still very much tied to the Matron of Ravens and his duties keep him wrapped up just as much as they did before. So although he can now see Keyleth, being together still isnât this grand possibility.
Again it reminds me more of Will and Elizabeth, pre-sequel where they released him from the contract. He can only be on land for a day and thatâs it. Yes, those two still got married and had a kid in the meantime but they were basically apart. With Vax and Keyleth, weâre given the impression that Keyleth finally mourned him and although she knows a part of her is very much still in love with him, they have to start from scratch, which both are willing to do, but it ends with âevery now and then her Champion comes to visit.â While this sounds sweet, if youâre a romantic like me itâs still a bit sad cause an epic romance being rebuilt isnât going to happen on âevery now and thenâ. That just sounds like casual friends getting together for lunch. And somehow I canât buy that two people like Keyleth and Vax who had such an intense relationship could either go back to being just friends or stay somewhere in the awkward middle of being in love but never getting married or starting any kind of life together.
Part of me hopes that they use the animated show to add on to this ending or tweak it and make it so thereâs a better finality to it. Do they get married? Have children? Does Vax have time to spare and an actual life with Keyleth or is he almost always gone in which case their relationship is mostly one of companionship and familiarity but wonât ever be what it was before? Sincerely hope itâs the former rather than the latter. I know some fans have wondered if Vax is different because it was speculated that Vax changed when he became part of the celestial realm but my hope would be that as heâs with Keyleth it becomes evident that the old Vax is still present and in ways has always been there.
These things may never be addressed but theyâre just my thoughts on the ending for Vaxleth / potential avenues for their character arc and what itâd be nice to see. Not that itâd be anytime soon, given all the story that has to happen in the meantime, unless they do a flash forward and are willing to let further stories explain the gaps in-between. I think some fans would be up for that just to have a conclusion to Vaxâs story earlier than having to wait for potential other campaign adaptations. Overall though Iâve appreciated what theyâve done with Vaxleth as a whole, Iâm just rooting for an ultimately happy ending since all these characters go through a lot in their respective stories.
I actually like that she was one of the last. Because my whole theory is that she knew he wouldâve rather died and seen them go down fighting then have any of them bow to Vecna so it makes sense why she wouldnât submit until she saw Percy. After Vax sacrificed himself for her once already I think she knew he would willingly do it for any of them again and thatâs why she doesnât seem surprised at his actions. Truly Vex knows her brother best.
Seems to me that some were almost expecting Vaxleth to have a love story similar to Percâahlia when the things is, narratively I wouldnât want a copy of what we saw with Percy and Vex. Iâd say theyâre both good because theyâre different. Percy and Vexâs love story was incredibly well told and is wonderful in its own right but itâs not similar to what unfolds with Vax and Keyleth. While they wanted to have a love like Percy and Vex, their respective paths made it clear that wasnât going to happen early on. Theyâre the star-crossed, deeply in love but tragic Shakespearean lovers as opposed to the more classic yearning and epic declarations of a Jane Austen couple. Itâs ships passing in the night, wasted opportunities, dreams unfulfilled and ultimately the reckoning of having to start over. But their struggle is what makes Vaxleth a beautiful love story. Because it shows that love isnât always about getting swept away in the moment but about choosing the person, over and over, even when itâs uncertain and the road isnât easy.
While some may be like âwhy should a one year fling be a lifelong love story?â Iâd ask why not? And was it really a one year fling? After all, Vex knew she loved Percy in about the same time but was unwilling to admit it. And they settled down into their married life easily and quickly because they knew there was no one else. I think itâs clear, had Vax not have been in the situation he was with the Matron, he and Keyleth wouldâve likely followed the same course. Their âone year flingâ wouldâve turned into marriage, kids and a whole lifetime of everything theyâd wanted together.
The beauty to me of both couples is that their love for one another is no less grand, just different. Vex had to overcome her insecurity at thinking she was a curse to those she loved to be with Percy and both Keyleth and Vax had to overcome a fear of outliving or missing out on important things with their loved ones so distancing themselves because of it. For Keyleth and Vax, so much of their story is about Keyleth learning that Vaxâs choice to stay with the Matron doesnât lessen his love for her and both can be held in tension. So I think fans can appreciate both couples and not expect one to be the other because each brings unique and complex dynamics to the story that are great for the character building as a whole.
Honestly, for all that buildup to having Hinagiku and Sakura see Rosei and Itecho again that was a serious letdown. I was hoping that seeing Rosei again more than anything would be the catalyst for Hinagiku to come back to herself. To stop talking in the third person and saying she doesnât deserve happiness because it belongs to her other self who âdied.â She split her personality due to trauma and a need for self-preservation and yes, there are times where the damage cannot be undone but this is fantasy. Rosei really wanted to ârescueâ her in a way he wasnât able to when they were kids so it wouldâve been more poignant had the true Hinagiku come back when she was with him once more, when he did hand her the flower of ice, effectively making her feel truly safe to be herself again. Instead though, quite frankly, by this point it just got uncomfortable. Especially when she says sheâs the wrong one and he goes âI knowâ yet he thanks her and weâre supposed to think this is a love story?
The same could be said for Sakura and Itecho when there was an equal buildup for them, the tension they had in her feeling betrayed and walking away and his obvious feelings towards her. Yet when they meet there was no impact, as she says it felt like he was addressing her like a relative. All the yearning the story had built for both couples went out completely gone the moment they were together which was a complete shame. And Iâm really over Sakura and her possessiveness of Hinagiku. If they were just going to keep the kind of unhealthy codependency between the girls where they struggle to let anyone between them, why even bring in Rosei and Itecho there in the end? Cause the reunion with the boys falls flat when again itâs just turned into Sakura wanting to interrupt and then actually doing so later but Hinagiku doesnât protest.
Maybe thereâs a further, better conclusion in the original light novel but I just felt like this one was building up to an epic romantic pay off between the two couples but just failed to deliver on it at all. It just repeated the same motifs and was actually highly depressing, more so than I expected it to be. Yes, the seasons come together and everyone is friends again but sheâs very much still a broken person and it felt like there needed to be more closure with everything than there was. The animation was beautiful, Iâll give it that and the premise was solid but it lacked closure.
i do find that vax gets praised for things that keyleth is then criticised for. the double standards is excruciating.
a lot of the criticism ppl have towards keyleth from s4 applies to many of vaxâs actions in s2 and s3
ânot trusting vaxâ he didnât trust her in s3
âsheâs driven by emotionsâ he is too - hence why heâs the champion and the reason he dies
âshe acts without thinkingâ ummmm yup so does vax
âtoo trusting. eg believe the whispered oneâ her whole arc in s3 disproves that entirely
Heâs definitely not getting less of the criticism right now strangely đThe interesting thing about Vaxleth is that they struggle to see things from each others perspectives. Ironically itâs their opposing viewpoints that drove Vax and Keyleth towards one another. He liked how she was kind of goofy but more optimistic and sweet vs his more realistic and combative nature. They challenge one another to see a different side of things in a way they wouldnât have without the other. So yes that can sometimes come across like they donât trust each other but fundamentally they do.
Vax choosing to become the Champion wasnât necessarily an emotional decision. It was him choosing to submit to what he thought was the best course to save Vexâs life and he was willing to take on that burden, again the self-sacrificial kind of thing. With Keyleth though when she submits to Vecna itâs a snap decision she makes. Itâs not that sheâs even trusting Vecna, itâs that in that moment she likely isnât thinking it through much at all and is simply blindly hoping her choice would save Vax. Her whole arc was about her parallel to Delilah and how, regardless of what happened, sheâd be willing to do anything to save Vax. In that way it contrasts Vax who is willing to sacrifice himself to save his friends, she just wanted him to live. Again, understandable but no less selfish in the thought process. Now as Iâve said in other posts, I donât think Keyleth herself is selfish at her core. Sheâs the leader of the Ashari for a reason but this season showed that thereâs very much Keyleth, the Voice of the Tempest and Kiki, the young woman deeply in love. Unlike the others who are better coming to grips with reconciling both sides of themselves and holding them in tension, Keyleth is still struggling with this and because of that struggle she can make these kinds of weighty decisions.
Yes, they all have trust issues and do irrational things at times, thatâs called being flawed and relatable which is why we like these characters. Iâm not sure why everyone assumes just because we like and lift up Vax for selfless behavior and point out Keyleth making objectively questionable decisions this season that means we hate her character as a whole. I donât, I appreciate both characters and have enjoyed the growth both of them have experienced to get to this point in the finale. Thereâs no double standard here. People can appreciate Vax for a decision that was completely in line with his character arc and growth, while also seeing Keyleth make a mistake that was in line with her story this season and it not be demeaning or overly praiseworthy of one or the other.
This will ruffle some feathers but Iâm starting to wonder if this whole inability to just appreciate Vaxâs moment with Vecna is about the feminist need to hate on male characters. When you critique a female characterâs flaw or just point out a poor decision youâre called a misogynist but people will bash male characters up one side and down the others, even for completely good behavior and valid decisions, this signals a pathological need to hate on the male figure in the story whether their plot is good or not. Also, I think it can be about personal validation in the sense of people needing to say Keyleth or anyone else making the selfish decision is justified vs standing up to the villain so if they were in a similar situation in real life they too can deem that as selfless when it isnât. Just some observations because normally we never had a problem celebrating a fictional character for heroic actions but now if that character is male it particularly becomes an argument.

i feel sometimes his love and devotion is shown to be greater to vex than keyleth (i think thatâs often as percy and vex are the more nurtured/invested and thoroughly explored couple by the show runners so keyleth and vax dont feel as explored and more flat)
vax says he is in love with keyleth and wants a future with her but always does/choses the option that shows the opposite of that in his actions throughout the seasons. also when he is upset that he doesnât want to die talking to percy - he never mentioned leaving keyleth but you have keyleth sobbing about him dying in the same scene. paired with vaxâs other actions, it all makes the relationship feel incredibly imbalanced and kind of one sided
Iâm really not sure why people feel this way when he went on her Aramente with her which was entirely about devoting all his time to something that was solely about her. In the beginning of their relationship he denies his feelings when she doesnât want to be with him and then even after she kisses him, he tries not to continue when he has the vision of her being alone after everyoneâs death because he doesnât want her to be in pain. When theyâre together he encourages her and is her biggest cheerleader. Heâs the first one to look after her when sheâs injured and hurt. And Delilah could only show him the vision of the future he couldâve had with Keyleth, including marriage and a family with children, if thatâs something he has dreamed of in the first place. So no, I disagree about his devotion to Keyleth being less strong than that for Vex.
Just because he didnât mention that he would miss her or he wasnât shown breaking down and crying about being separated from Keyleth doesnât mean he lacks devotion. For one, men just donât tend to do this. While media today has kind of feminized men and made them have these big gushy emotional declarations or crying moments, thatâs really not realistic. Men tend to show things in other ways like how Vax is portrayed being the fixer and the one to comfort Keyleth when sheâs distressed. Heâs not going to seek out comfort himself. His moment with Percy was a rare sign of vulnerability to the one guy whoâd understand and Vax knew he wouldnât say anything to the girls and burden them with it. He couldnât say those things to Keyleth because they wouldâve only angered her and made her more upset at his predicament. Vaxâs love is shown in his bearing of the curse and pushing through to be the person everyone knew him to be right to the end. And love doesnât always have to be mentioned to be felt. Their relationship isnât one-sided at all, the way he loves her is just quieter and more steady. Heâs sort of been her rock from the beginning and in him keeping that, to me itâs a special kind of devotion.
People seem to think itâs one or the other, he either capituates and shows her he loves her or he dies and therefore he never loved her at all. As someone else pointed out on my post and was said so well, two things can be true at the same time. He can absolutely love Keyleth but know what the right choice is to make in any given scenario. Say for a real life example, people will push children out of the way of cars and lose their life in the process but that doesnât mean they love their family any less. Same for the soldier who dives on the grenade in war to save his comrades, just because they know thatâs the right decision doesnât mean they donât care about their loved ones. We celebrate these things because we understand there can be a cost to making the heroic choice but the person willing to make it is deserving of a special honor. The same can be said even in the fictional realm, itâs why weâve always loved superheroes who stand alone amidst a sea of people who follow the herd and donât go against the grain.
Also, I think people forget that if Vax made any different choice, say if he was a character who capitulated and wasnât this man who sacrificed himself and put others first, he wouldnât be the guy Keyleth loved in the first place nor the character we all respect. The reason we like him is because heâs noble and heroic and thatâs why Keyleth trusts and thinks highly of him. So if he made any other decision than the one he does for Vex or to spit in Vecnaâs face, he wouldnât be Vax at all and then he and Keyleth wouldnât have the same relationship at all. Thatâs why this is even more tragic because as Iâve said in other posts, she above anyone else shouldâve known he wouldnât want her to bow to Vecna and wouldâve died before he saw his friends make that decision. Ironically though, as fans are struggling to accept the duality of Vaxâs choice, that was also at the heart of what made Keyleth fight so hard. This whole season she couldnât accept that Vax could willingly go along with what the Matron wanted and that his death could be a choice in the sense of him accepting it, but that he also could love her just as deeply.
