sewing needle holder pouch by birdcage and thread
I used to store my sewing needles on tomato pin cushion with a sticky notes. But it was getting too crowded. I needed a holder with labels to identify which sewing needle is which. I found a pattern. It’s been great. No more crowded tomato pincushion.
Valentine gifts for daughter’s classmates and teachers
For the teachers, I made heart shape pot holders. Pattern is from http://aspoonfulofsugardesigns.com/2013/02/pot-holder-pattern/
For her classmates, I got each kid a small container of play-doh.
Each gift is wrapped with origami boxes.
upcycled old bed sheet into laundry basket lining
We have these laundry baskets that we use so much. They’re from SunBeam. I remember buying them from container store years ago.
The laundry baskets are foldable and because it has open wide mouth, it makes it easier to unload clean laundry from dryer. I can’t find these anywhere anymore.Â
The lining was getting torn from years of wear and tear and my husband asked me if I can replace the lining. So I did. I used our old bed sheet that we don’t use and started thinking a way how to mimic the design.Â
I must say I’m quite proud how they come out.Â
I’m also happy that I think my sewing skill is growing.Â

cord holder
Lately what happened to my fabric scraps is to make a cord holder. I figured this is quite handy for those phone chargers, computer cables, or any charging cables. And the printed cotton fabric is so pretty to look at. I only need snaps (Kam Snaps), left over fabric, and interfacing to make these cord holders.
The one on the left is my old design. It’s not that great. It was my way to wrap my sewing cord. Then my phone charge cord came with its own holder. So I mimic their design. I’m quite happy with the design so far. It’s nice to see them all wrapped up so neatly.
upcycled box for sewing needle storage
As I’m journeying into sewing, I’ve been tackling at organizing this sewing hobby. I find that if I’m organized finding my tools, the less stress I am. That’s actually true for my house, my work notes, my bills, etc.Â
This is one of those youtube tutorial that I thought it was brilliant. I tend to keep boxes from old phones, or boxes that I find it’s sturdy and can be re-purposed later. This youtube tutorial gave a way to make accordion slots to store needles. I thought this was genius. Because I can also store business cards, sample cards, etc for other hobbies.

someone shared a knitting needle holder sewing pattern on facebook group. This what came out of it. I think it’s pretty neat.Â
using shoe rack to organize weaving tools
My rigid heddles were in original box for years. I have been wanting to organize my weaving tools like the heddles, sword (pick up sticks), stick shuttles, etc on a somekind of a book shelf. Then I saw this collapsible shoe rack on amazon for $25. It was perfect to store all my weaving accessories.Â

A digitized (One Note) version of projects documentation
Long time ago, I tried to document my projects from various hobbies including house projects onto a physical notebook. I was using washi tapes as tags (categories) and an index page.Â
The system works if I actually sit down and update my physical notebook. But most of the time I don’t update my notebook after a project is finished thus over time I don’t remember what I did on a project.
Then I thought I already use One Note for work and personal notes, why don’t I create a One Note Notebook to document all my projects.
It is working beautifully. Because One Note is very flexible. I created an index page with links to what projects. And on each project page, I can add pdf file like a sewing pattern, I can add what website instruction did I use to create the project, I can add photos, etc.
It’s working so wonderfully. The reason the One Note works is mostly because I’m at my laptop a lot of time. Thus I have access to One Note right there whenever thus it gets updated easily.
more epp out of left over fabric by rjrahardjo
I have a vision that I would have a quilt or project out of epp from left over fabric. Fabric from sewing projects. Then one day I would look at my quilt or project, I’d be reminded of project A, B, C, etc. It’s also a reminder how many projects I have done and a reminder how far I have come in sewing hobby.
